I feel like I was on a different ship than some of you, slow elevators? Waiting for hours to eat? Long lines everywhere? Bad crew attitude? I saw none of it, it sounds like a combination of people that showed up determined to have a lousy time and succeeded, and people that were expecting a small ship experience, which Getaway can't be.

The problem is you are reading the contract in a way to support your argument that NCL cannot shorten the cruise. They have the legal right to change the itinerary. The itinerary is not the ports, its not the route its the entire voyage. Itinerary is defined as
the route of a journey or tour or the proposed outline of one, the word clearly covers the entire voyage. On top of that our cruise was reduced in length by 16% and we received 25% off of this trip, and an equal amount on another trip. No logical court is ever going to say the compensation was inadequate.

There is no doubt that many people got on the ship annoyed and were determined to have a lousy time and had one. The cruise wasn't nearly as bad as people state. Was the atrium crowed? yes, is it always crowded on every Getaway cruise? yes. Did I go there every afternoon and get twp seats ? yes? . Was there a long line at the guest relations desk the first four days? Yes, but we had 7 sea days there was no reason that people needed to talk to someone the first couple of days. I made reservations the day of for 5 specialty restaurants, I waited for 5 minutes one day at the noodle bar, the hours wait for food is nonsense. People make this cruise sound like mass pandemonium and huge lines everyplace, it just wasn't the reality. The weather wasn't great and that wasn't NCL's fault. When we left NYC the forecast was for 63 in Le Harve , a cold front came in. Would I have rather had the original itinerary ? Yes thats what I purchased, but I received 25% off this and another cruise. Its not like we weren't compensated. The notion of a class action suit is absurd, groundless and baseless, you can't sue someone because your pissed.

I'm puzzled by the comment "waiting in lines HOURS on two occasions" I was on the cruise also, was it what I originally though it was going to be, of course not. The cruise from hell I certainly wouldn't describe it that way. I never saw a line or waited on a line that was remotely close to that. The worst line I had I was getting on the ship in Brugge and although long it was no worse than many other boarding experiences. Clearly the weather caused issues but most of that was the weather not the route. The day we left the forecast for Le Harve was 63 degrees and sunny obviously that changed dramatically. Unfortunately late April early May the weather can be unpredictable.

I'm on this cruise and when Le Havre and Brugge were removed I couldn't believe it and felt like I was taking a 10 day cruise to nowhere. But NCL did listen to the complaints and added back the ports most people care about it. I still get 25% off my cruise and 25% off my next cruise, considering everything its not a bad compromise.

I'm taking an NCL translation and one of the stops is Portland England, I haven't been able to find out much about what there is to see or do while in port. Any ideas from someone who has been there?
-
I'm also booked on the getaway May Transatlantic. Unfortunately you don't get the flight info until 60 days out, so I don't know anything about the flight.
-
I'm taking a Transatlantic leaving from NYC where I can drive to, I'm getting airfare from London home for $199 so I can't complain. Its a real perk for me.

I love being in Haven on the same level as the courtyard. You just can't beat the convenience, to me it really enhances the experience.
-
One caveat I haven't traveled on a holiday week but I have never had an issue with seating around the pool at the Haven. You can make a reservation in the Haven restaurant but I haven't found it necessary .
-
It was a private group with an NCL board member
-
I would never pay for the Haven if I couldn't walk out of my room into the courtyard, lounge and restaurant. To me that convenience is a huge part of why I love the Haven.

yes the the Le Bistro kitchen was koshered under Rabbinical supervision, the reason they chose Le Bistro is the fact that it has its own smaller kitchen. The group was 120 and yes a member of the NCL was in the group.

Most of the people that don't understand the op questions have likely not eaten there. When the waiter brings you your dish you get an explanation about whats on the dish ie "Parmesan encrusted dover sole with a puree of ....."

We were on Getaway last year during the Super Bowl and it was on every screen on the ship. We watched it on the big tv at Spice H2O although the first game will conflict with the sail away so that might no be an option. I'm sure they will have it on the atrium screen. and Maltings and O'Sheehans
-
Do they still sell daily spa passes on the Getaway during port days? And if so how much are they?
-
The lack of sea days is hard to ignore, I did a 14 day med cruise with 1 sea days and it felt like a forced march.
-
I would be surprised if that is over $15, there really isn't a lot over $15
-
Our room was right off the Haven courtyard and it was ready when we got on. With escort and the waiting elevator it's very easy to carry your own luggage on.
-
I know that this has been probably answered 50 times but I couldn't find the answer. When you have the UDP and order a super premium drink that is over the $ allotment do they charge you from zero or do you pay the amount over $15.

Is Julie still a cruise director on NCL? I always thought she was the best one they have.

I'm new to NCL and am sailing on the Breakaway in Feb and hoping someone could answer my questions.
1. We just upgraded to a mini-suite with large balcony. Originally we were going to try and get Vibe passes but I'm thinking now with the extra large balcony it might not even be worth it. Any thoughts?
I'm a big fan of the Vibe I enjoy laying out there and the quiet nature of it, the hot tubs and bar. If your planning on hanging out on your deck most of the time it might not be worth it you. I like the rest of the conveniences that the Vibe affords.

I am going to be on the ship for the first time in July. Although I have been on Getaway and Breakaway 5 times I like the look of this ship. The "older" decor doesn't bother, what I'd love to see is renovations of the bathrooms to modernize them.

Since you guys have had the cabin in the past, is it worth an extra $620 over a regular balcony? We booked the large balcony last time, and that one is $460 less than the M6. I just can't stop looking at the huge balcony, and the larger bathroom!
I had regular room with a large balcony and for us that did the trick for us. I didnt like the mini suites with the large balcony since it sticks out so much there is zero privacy. The large balcony rooms are on 9 the mini suite large balconies are on 8 and if I was at the rail I could have a conversation with the couple on 8.

It’s highly unlikely this was bait and switch and proving it would be virtually impossible.
