I would never pay the daily rates Tharp Canadian phone companies charge. I am in the US several months a year and have never paid to use my phone. It goes on airplane mode before crossing the border and stays that way until I am back in Canada. iMessages can be sent to iPhones when connected to wifi and you can communicate with Messenger, Skype, WhatsApp, etc while connected to wifi. If you are concerned about security while using public wifi then get a VPN.

Don't want to sound stupid, but, how do you call UBER over Messenger or WhatApp? Thanks

  2. I have to agree with the previous poster.  There are really no deals to be had with a Canadian TA.  Some claim that they get good deals through the big box company in a coupon but, I've found that you are better off booking with a US agency and then work out the exchange rate.  It's a bit of a hassle but, you have to do the figures to see if it works...also then you have to get a VPN to see the U.S. NCL website to see if prices come down after booking.  🤔

  3. Back in February, we used the NCL flight to get to L.A. but didn't like the return flight.  We simply used the first and booked our own for the second...no problem and we even flew with the same carrier NCL had booked 😉 (but our flight got us home 6 hours sooner and no stop-over).  No issue at all.  I've read this only works if you don't cancel the first flight as the second flight will automatically cancel.

  4. I for one have been disappointed with the service provided with the cleaning cutbacks.  I won't reduce the gratuities because I can see that the steward is doing his best to keep up with the increased demands put on him.  It isn't for my convenience that my room isn't done at 4:30 pm when I get back after a busy port day and I'd like to shower, relax, and then get ready for dinner.  Instead, I now have to locate the steward, ask him to replace my towels (or I just use the beach towels), tell him that I don't need him to do up the room and leave it for another day (did this a few times during my cruise).

I can't blame him for the situation he's been placed under and I can't imagine asking him to make towel animals for us.  I certainly made a point of this on my survey.

Hasn't happened to you?  Perhaps you were at the front of the cleaning line, lucky you!

Did I still enjoy my cruise? Absolutely.

  5. We are Sapphire, and on the Bliss (Panama Canal cruise this January) we were offered the sail/sustain mixology experience and I can honestly say, it wasn't something I would want to do again.  Why drink something you don't particularly like when you've got a beverage package that allows you to chose something you enjoy?  The drinks were different (tasted to me like liquor shots with sediment) and I guess worth trying once?  By the way, they aren't grinding up meat products 😉, just over ripe fruit (some rinds), coffee grounds and I think croissant.

Is the sharing thing really enforced?  We plan on using a FAS credit at Food republic and sharing.

We were able to use one credit for the both of us at Food Republic when on the Bliss last week (we used it twice).  Only thing was that Food Republic was only open for dinner and not open for lunch on sea days.  We figured this was due to staffing issues on our 15 day panama canal cruise.

So, the Mediterranean cruise on the Epic that we took in summer of 2019 disappeared from our Latitudes account. I know it was in there. I remember seeing it when we booked an Alaskan cruise for summer 2020, which we obviously had to cancel before it happened. We haven’t cruised since 2020 and honestly I hadn’t paid much attention to our account other than to check on our CN certificates to make sure they weren’t going to expire.

But now we have another cruise booked (90 more days, yay!!), so I am paying attention. And sure enough the Med cruise is no longer there. I tried to let them know, but can’t because the time limit has expired.

So, I suppose my next step is to call customer service. But I’m not optimistic. Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice? Is there any chance of getting my points back?

Yes this happened to me.  I did eventually get the points back, but, only after several weeks of follow up with NCL.  They can't fix the issue on the phone, but, they will send an email to IT outlining the issue, and then it takes 2-3 weeks as they are having a number of issues.

Thank you.  It is confusing as NCL has nowhere indicated that we should go anywhere but the address given on our e-docs.  If I were not on Cruise Critic I would not even be aware of the conundrum.  I was (am?) hoping that they had realized the shuttling was problematic and gotten things together so that people could check in at the Outer Harbor.  That still may be the case but there is no communication (as usual with NCL!)

We (and many others from our Roll Call) are staying the night before at the Crowne Plaza, which is very close (walking distance) to the normal cruise terminal.  We spoke to the front desk there and alerted them that we would sail from Berth 46 and we were assured the were aware and would have a shuttle going there.  So we will see what actually happens.  I'm guessing the hotel will take an interest in where they should be sending their shuttle and be motivated to sort it out.  I would be if I were them but, then again, I am an efficient type.

We are on this cruise with you.  So far, we are planning on telling our Uber driver to take us to Berth 46 as stated in our documents.  If there is a shuttle involved to get there, then I have to assume the port will prevent my driver from going to Berth 46.  I'll be following cc posts and any news from NCL in hopes that if I need to change this plan, I'll do so then.  'Lack of good communication' is the name of this game we are playing with NCL this time around.

NCL "forgot" DW's username.  We could reset the password, but there was no username.  We just created a new account using her latitudes number and it all works fine now.  That's NCL IT for ya'. 🤣

Worked for me too!  Thank you.  I was a bit nervous creating a new account... figured it might lead me into a new set of issues but, once it allowed me to input my latitude number, everything repopulated.👍

Just noticed at LeBistro there is now a 10.00 upcharge for the tenderloin. Do you know if that is waived with either dining package SDP or Platinum voucher? Seems strange to have an upcharge as it never has before.

    Thank you

    Wow.  Not happy.

For the first time we booked our cruise and flight directly from NCL. I had to contact them in order to get my flight info since we were at 25 days prior to our cruise and no one has sent us any info. They ended up sending me the flight info for someone else. Then I got the flight info which stated that neigther me or my wife were allowed any luggage. To make things even more confusing, when I tried to book our seats via Delta, we can't have seats together and we are charged 30$ CAD per person for the 1st luggage. Air Canada is charging us a min of 30$ CAD per seat and also a 30$ CAD per person for 1st luggage.

So now I'm asking myself, what was the point of booking with NCL when I'll have to pay more to fly...

    Did anyone else experience this?

Yes.  Live and learn.....  I'll make my own arrangements next time.  We are sitting together but, we received conflicting travel/flight info. and had to pay for luggage.  It works for some, but, not for us.

Has anyone ever had a balance due showing on the app when we made our final payment and total payment back in sept!!??

im going to call ncl and see if it’s just a technical error on the app 🤷‍♀️
I have credit card statement showing payment so should be just a house keeping technicality 🤞

This happened to us a couple of weeks ago.  It was a mistake and NCL made the correction.
