  1. My DH and I are going on our first cruise in 14 days!! (Eeek!) I'm curious to know what everyone does after dinner (casual and formal nights). Do you stay in your dress all night until you retire to your room? Do you wear your dress for dinner then change into something comfortable? Do you wear your dress then change into another cute outfit?

I plan on living in gym shorts/tshirts during the day. Do I need to pack more "cutsie" outfits for the evenings??

  2. The same thing happened to me, so I called Carnival and got upgraded from a regular balcony room to an aft-view extended balcony room, which is my prefered location anyways, so I was happy! I checked again the other day and the price went down AGAIN, so I called seeking some OBC. The fare for us 2 is now $600 less than I paid for it in May. Even the room I was upgraded to is now $400 cheaper than the regular balcony room I paid for! I could be in a Premium Vista Balcony for the price I paid. The person I spoke with was surprisingly rude to me and said that I have been given more than enough and they will not honor any more. Would put me on hold without warning and was obviously annoyed. I was nothing but nice, as I alwas am. I plan on calling back and speaking with a supervisor, though. Especially because this isn't the first time I have gone through a rate change with Carnival and before they were thrilled to give me more!

That is awesome! We have a balcony as of now, but she hasn't said anything about a room upgrade, only OBC. We are still about 40 days out from our sail date and I HOPE we'll receive even more OBC!

  3. Haha, this seems too easy to be true! You just call and ask for the current rate? That is awesome, especially because Carnival is doing an "East Coast" special or something that came up because we live in New Jersey.

I know! It seems weird, but I'm okay with it :) more money to spend on drinks that I've already budgeted for!

  4. My DH and I are really getting the casino bug lately. I've been scanning through this forum (not reading all 8 pages, though) and I'm really interested in this players club. How do we become a member and how do we get these great perks?!

  5. My husband and I just called and did that! We now have $216 OBC! It's better than nothing! It was super easy & she told me to keep calling to check if it will go lower until we sail at the end of July!

  6. My husband and I are going on a western Caribbean cruise at the end of July. Jamaica, Cozumel, & Grand Cayman. 7 days on the Carnival Dream.

I'm trying to figure out how much money to bring!

Drinkers - myself, not him. I'm not a "boozer" either. Taking two bottles of wine with us. Maybe a drink during the day on ship. Drinks on port at beach! We don't drink soda either.

Casino- we both like the casino. However, I don't plan on being there 24/7. Never spent more than $100 at a time in a casino.

Excursions- we're trying to do taxis and our own thing. Shopping, beach, snorkeling. Not a group or through the ship trip!

So basically, I'm wondering what I need to take.

I was thinking $1000 - $1500 in total. How much should be cash? What kind of denominations? Do I use a credit card or my bank card for my sail and sign card?

    Confused...

  7. My husband and I are going on the Carnival Dream in July. We currently have a balcony room on the Verandah deck category 8D.

I was checking out the fare viewer today and it said something about category 8F (free upgrade from 8D). When I looked it up on cruisedeckplans dot com it seems as though 8F is on the lido deck? Based upon color codes..

I'm wondering if anyone knows the main difference. Would it be worth changing our room?

  8. My DH and I are going on our 1st cruise. We want to try to do as much as possible on our own (no excursions) to see shops and beaches!

We're going on the Carnival Dream July 27th. Grand cayman, Cozumel, and Jamaica.

My question is: how do I know which pier we will be docking at? I want to have a general location of what's around our area. Is there a place that tells me?

    Thanks!

  9. Can someone give me great ideas on what to do if we want to experience more of the culture in Cozumel? We are wanting to maybe do some shopping (which someone told me was great here) and get in some Mexican food!

Is there a nice beach within walking distance, too?
