So my 11 yr old is fully vaxxed, but the app doesn't let me upload her vax card (like I can for my teen and myself). Meanwhile I just received the email to register her for testing at the pier. The question is THIS: How much of a pain in the ass will it be to avoid this extra test? Will we be able to consider her fully vaxxed because she is? Or will this be a logistical nightmare at boarding? AND slightly unrelated, will they allow her to age up to the teen club with her sister? I pretty sure there will be almost no kids on our Serenaded sailing 1/8.....

We sail the 21st on her and wonder the same thing!

Thanks for the site! AccuWeather.com has me in a tizzy with Thier prediction and "cone of worry"
-
So we sail out of baltimore on Grandeur next Thursday for NE/Canada leaf peeping - new hurricane looks like it's going to be right smack where I want to go!
Predictions? I've sailed right through the middle of a category 2 as a teenager, but as a mom of 2 I was worried if the kids would feel it? Do I OD them on the dramamine, lol?

If you are offered a full voucher, your travel insurance may not apply. It depends on which level you purchased.
We always get usaa travel insurance, it has more than paid for it's self and the process was super easy. Didn't have to ask anyone, just printed claim and filed. I'm thinking you didn't buy the 'cancel for any reason' ?

Who's got the popcorn? I'm settling in early.

Hysterical. I'm here to enjoy the ranting as well.
FWIW, we usually hand our room steward a $20 on day one and find our service to be exceptional. Our prepaid gratuities simply make our budgeting easier, but we often tip extra to staff who help make our trip smooth and relaxing.

So I guess I am back to screw top bottles of wine! AT least my stateroom attendant has always been great about bringing me glasses..... and if the bottle is "open" when I bring it to the dining room, I have never been charged a fee. But what a PITA.

I think this one really depends on who us assigned. I have been at some where all the organizer did was drop a bucket of supplies on the table, dissappear for 15 minutes and then come back to collect supplies and sell mini packages,
That being said, I have been to some where the staff were really into it, helped you cut and layout designs, and had the really nice acid free photo glue etc.....
They have all always offered either a 4 page pack, or, if there are a lot of people opened the packs and allowed you to make 2 pages. The $10 sets Are really nice if you scrapbook at home - I have bought he extenders to make my books thicker and have one for every trip we take. Going to need a bigger cabinet soon as our shelf is filling up!
-
They are only open for an "open house" the first night where parents can register the kids, get wristbands, meet the staff, etc....
The first morning is the first time you are available to drop off.

I was lost about this too. On the last day and night we gave $20 to each person we had seen several times that week. With 2 kiddos, that added up to about $120.

Good Morning Cruisers!
I'm a newbie, who just found CC while searching for information on my first cruise - which is now booked on the Grandeur of the Seas Sept 2017! I've been pouring through the postings here - I especially love the LIVE reviews. What a fun and informative website this is!!!
Anyway, I see that many of you cruise several times a year! How exciting! Looking through all of this information and seeing your trips is making me VERY excited for mine. I want to know what you all do to prepare and/or pass the time when you're excited for your upcoming voyages??? I feel like this is going to be the longest five months of my life :D
Thanks for your help in advance. Looking forward to chatting with so many of you that seem so very cruise knowledgeable :D

Hey Lisa, We are also on Grandeur this Sept, the 21st! Be sure to search for and join your roll call!

thank you so much for posting!

If you roll your clothes, you would be shocked how much you can fit in that bag! We have 2 kids, aged 6 and 8. We fit 4 full days of clothing for all 4 of us (so about 16 outfits) in that bag. I was impressed with myself. The bag got a little stretched, but it worked. They returned 2 full bags about 2 and 1/2 days later.

We sail this itinerary in sept, very excited.

The cabanas and lunch are worth every penny. We have done it both times, and seeing the line at the regular lunch buffet -crazy! They also brought us fruits and champagne and water to our cabana, towels etc. My kids loved having their own private beach area no crowds, worth it!

I found gluten free to be remarkably easy except lunch in dining room. If I ordered lunch at breakfast, it was no big deal and they would have it ready. Windjammer had lots of GF choices and the chef up there always came out to help me. Dinner was great, they made everything GF that I could possibly ask for. I was surprised how simple it was.

We bumped our 5 year old up and shouldn't have. Some of the 8 yr old boys were really big and played too rough. She also had trouble playing a lot of the games because a kindergarten reading level and rules for games is a much lower level then 3rd graders. While I thought 3 yr olds were too young, the upper grades were too old. Rough age.

Although I didn't order them, chai lattes were available on the Jewel last month at Cafe Lattetudes.

YES! These are my only reason for going to a starbucks! And 15 for $31 is a steal for my 9 night cruise! Do they have almond milk?

To surprise my kids last year, I went to etsy and for $8 had a beautiful 8 11 magnet made with Elsa and a Christmas tree and my kids first names, surprise cruise , ship name and date. They put it on their stateroom door to find it faster. Awesome. Still on my fridge 2 years later.

There is no 'High Tea" on RCI. You can get hot water and tea bags any time...and in the afternoon, the WJ does have cookies and snacks...so you can do a "make your own tea" thing....but it's NOT a "high tea" by any stretch of the imagination!
Exactly above. I have found on all 3 caribbean cruises that scones were offered everyday..... I would scoop hem up with some fruit and then head down to Starbucks for a better quality tea...
I am a bit of a tea snob, so often bring my own tea, and really wish they offered a high tea, at least on sea days. sigh,

My kids live and breathe in Adventure ocean. They skip dessert at dinner so they can go back, whine at pick up that they want to stay and prefer Royal to Disney Cruise line.
Two disney cruises were a waste of a lot of money, Royal A is where it's at!

There is a wash n fold special, all you can stuff in the bag for $30. It's limited to things like tshirts, shorts, underwear
We put our sweatpants, jeans, pj's etc in too. With 4 peoplr, we seriously stuffed that bag. and there is a $5 off for c&a. received 2 full bags back cleaned. Well worth it. it did take about 36-48 hours tjough. But we needed it by then. We are doing a 9 day in sept and will definitely send laundry out by day 5.

Under 3's don't have much to do on ANY ship, on ANY line. Carnival and Disney both allow 2 year olds in the clubs....That's about it! A few RCI ships do have a nursery....
I have been on disney with an 2 year old. You have to stay in the club and supervise your child. They are permitted inside WITH you but only for scheduled activities. it sucked.
A cruise with a 2 ur old is not much different from being home. ALthough, on royal, the kids club has toy bags you can take to your room for the week.

On board for Sept '17, maybe something fantastic will be added! It's our first time on board Grandeur and I am so looking forward to the intimate ship size.
vaxxed kids

Her sister is 13 and she is 11 and a few months. Since she is fully vaxxed, and all 12 and over are vaxxed, it made sense to me to keep her with the vaxxed kids. Plus, I don't expect there are many kids on board week of Jan 8.
