Oh...just saw the answer to my question in your signature :) You got on as I got off.
-
which crossing were you on? I crossed westbound on 20 Aug & eastbound on 27 Sept.
-
On my 20 Aug transatlantic crossing the top sailor was a Mr William Fairweather who had a total of 713 days. I've a bit to go yet to reach that...just have 369 to date :(
-
Also if it is pier 88 what is the address? I presume the taxi driver will need to know. They dont seem to automatically know.
-
On my e-ticket it says pier 92 but in the email & text message I received this week it says pier 88. Which is correct?
-
Well not only did I pay full fare, but as a single traveller I also paid 75% of another person's fare. The 1st gift we received was a canvas bag with QM2 World Voyage 2013 on it, if you put anything heavier than a leaflet or hair brush in it, the handle came off. I don't think they ever replaced them, but if you gave them to your steward, they came back newly stitched & strengthened. In 2010 we received a MUCH better bag which I still have to this day.
-
I did the full world cruise on QM2 in 2010 & we docked at Garden Island. We went into the city via shuttle bus, but people boarding there came to the ship by ferry/small boat.
-
They still give gifts to the full world cruisers but we really noticed a big difference in the frequency, quality & value of these gifts between 2010 & 2013. Looks like they're penny-pinching.
-
I've done the full world cruise twice & received the benefits every segment, about 6 or 7 in total.
-
I always mention it when I call Todd English to make the reservation, then take the voucher with me when I go. Only lunch is free, there is a small additional charge if you want to go to TE for dinner.
-
Thanks for your replies. Have you any idea what I'd be likely to pay for a cab to a Manhattan hotel?
-
I will disembarking in Brooklyn on 27 Aug. Does anyone know what time Diamond World Club members are likely to get off at? Also is there a Cunard shuttle into Manhattan? If so, would it be cheaper for 1 person travelling alone to take this & then a cab to the hotel or would it be better value to get a cab for the entire journey?

I do not know Mary Mastony's current situation, but in early 2014 she was 94 years young and still residing in New Jersey.
Thanks for your reply. I just was thinking she must be in her 90s by now.
-
I just was wondering if she is still alive; I haven't heard of her being onboard recently. Does anyone know?
-
thanks! think I remember getting up about 4.30am when we sailed in on QE2.
-
It's a while since I sailed into NY but will be doing it again on 27 Aug. Can anyone remind me exactly how early I need to be up & on deck?
-
I am Diamond too & unless things have changed since I was last there, you can upgrade to dinner for $15.
-
did you feel much motion at the start of the voyage when there were quite a few white horses around?
-
Is there currently a Cunard shuttle from Red Hook? Where does it take you to & how much does it cost? If it's any help, I'm staying in a hotel near Times Square. I presume it doesn't operate for a journey TO the ship, just FROM the ship.
-
I paid about £30k (that's about $50k in US money) for everything, though that was an obstructed view cabin on deck 8. So I presume you'd not have to pay that much more for an unobstructed view room. I don't drink alcohol so really the only expenses I had onboard were the shore excursions & those are included in the price above.
-
If I remember correctly, at one time it was supposed to be ready by 2016.
-
I've done QM2's full world cruise twice on my own. There's always lots of people to talk to & you make new friends. However, I must admit at times, I did miss having people I 'really' knew with me. That said, I'd rather do it alone than with someone I didn't really want to be with. You won't pay a 100% supplement unless you're in the top grade cabins, I paid about 75% of the 2nd person's fare. Go for it :)

I'm booked on 2 transatlantic crossings for Aug & Sep this year but something has come up & I'd like to change to an earlier date. I presume doing this would be considered as a cancellation & rebooking & I'd lose my deposit. Am I right? I once was allowed to change from the 2012 world cruise to the 2013 world cruise for a fee of £100 but I think that was a one-off.
-
I've never had any problem & I ask for no upgrade every time :)

What's the least number of days anyone has been awarded Top Sailor for? I think I've seen around 500 or maybe even less.
