We booked Irie Tours (west beach tour ) which included a stop to snorkel with the turtles (does not include the distillery though).   The water is shallow where the turtles are so I didn’t use my fins.  My son and daughter in law did though.  Was fantastic with these turtles feeding from the fishermen throwing their stuff off the dock.

Awesome what was the cost through them? Did you have to make it a whole beach break or could you just stop for the turtle part? We live in FL so a full beach stop isn't necessary

  2. Hello everyone! We'll be in Curacao early December (cruise ship) and I was wondering if it's like other ports of call where you can get off of the ship and find a local tour operator to take you around for a bit. We don't want anything super long or super expensive, and want to include stopping at the distillery and the Love Lock Heart. If anyone has done this successfully can you also advise how many were in your group & price per person?

I read that it has been decorated at Christmas time, would it be done the first week of December? And if anyone has any idea of where I can locate what may be going on while we are there that would be outstanding. We will be there on a Wednesday from 1:30 pm to about 10:30 pm (I think)

Thank you in advance for any help/advice!!

  3. I'm going to be the Valor's 2nd Deck...Oceanview 2386 Should I expect the ships motor noise to be soothing or unsettling/noisy? Anything else anyone would like to share about the 2nd deck rooms on Valor would be an added bonus....thanks! :)

We stayed in 2266 on Valor in April & it was my favorite stateroom so far in all of my cruises. No complaints at all about deck 2 and we never heard any outside noise.

  4. This was by far the BEST review I've ever read, thank you for all of the time you put into it! I'm sailing on Sunshine next April & our itinerary is different but I still loved your port reviews as well. (I shared the link to this review in my Sunshine cruise group!) If you ever visit Aruba again I highly recommend Action Tours Aruba's ATV tour. One of the best tours I've ever been on.

    Thank you again!!

  5. Seany527 -

I know you mentioned being in Grand Turk several times - have you ever ventured out into the island? Or just stay close to port? March will be our 3rd time back to Grand Turk. I love going to visit local bars and last time there we stopped at a little outside shopping area. It was really nice to chat with the locals. This time we're thinking of going out for a little bit and heading back to the ship early. We've never stayed on the ship while in Port so it'll be nice to see what that's like for a bit!

I've been to Grand Turk 3 times, the first time I did a tour that took us to the lighthouse with stops along the way there & back. It was nice to see once but I haven't taken my teens the 2 times they've been there. GT is now my favorite port to sit by the pool & do nothing but relax. (And maybe drink a Havanas Bananas or two at Margaritaville)

  6. Just a few questions...

    Grand Lucayan Resort:

It was said that it cost $10 round trip. How is it round trip? Does you cab wait on you while you are there and then take you back to the ship? Or do you have to pay them when they drop you off and "hope" that they return for pick up? Is this pp or for the entire cab? How long of a drive is it from the port?

Junkanoo: Where exactly is this located? When I try to look it up on google earth, it doesn't come up with anything. How far from port? How much to get there? Do they charge to enter?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure Junkanoo is Nassau not Freeport :)

  7. I've been on Valor and it's a very nice ship. I took a quick look at the deck plans and I think you'll be very happy there. And I think it will be better than being one deck down because you never know what might be below you. I don't think you will hear much from above. Just my two cents.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I don't think we'll be in the room when people are in the theater anyway so even if there is noise from there I doubt it will bother us :)

  8. So Carnival upgraded us to deck 2 Ocean View and I was able to pick my cabin but since I was driving without a deck plan in front of me she talked me through where I wanted to be. I said I didn't want public areas over us and I wanted mid or rear of the ship. When I looked at the room today it's in the front and it's not directly under the theater but it's under the restrooms and open deck area just outside of the theater. Has anyone stayed in this part of Valor and was it a miserable place to be? I'd almost rather be on Riviera :/

  9. It's been a long time since I've been on a cruise that stops in Freeport & back then we took a cab to the shopping area and then walked to the beach from there for a bit. Does anyone know if we could find parasailing over in that area? And if we can, does anyone know what it might cost now? Thank you for any and all feedback!!

  10. I just got back from Bonaire and we had a group of 10 do the Twizzy Tour. All 10 of us LOVED it! And nowhere else in the Caribbean can you do this!

They are small, two-seater, electric cars. They go up to 60 mph and are SO FUN to drive!!! We paid $55 per person and all think this tour was the best money spent throughout the cruise!

Hans, the owner/operator, was an awesome tour guide. Very informative! He's straight from Germany, so his English isn't perfect, but he's totally understandable.

We had plenty of stops for pictures, we stopped at a local distillery for some cactus liquor tasting, we stopped at the flamingo sanctuary in the National Park, and we stopped at the Eden/Spice Beach Club at the end for some AWESOME snorkeling and swimming. Delicious food and a full bar were available for lunch too!

The tour site mentions that an "average" adult fits in the back seat, what about the larger than average adult? Since you've been in one of the vehicles, in your opinion do you think someone who is overweight (approximately 240 lb man) will be able to do this tour? Thank you :)

  11.

Sounds fishy to me. Doesn't remember how she got to the crew's quarters but can say with certainty it was not consensual? How does she remember saying no if she doesn't remember getting there? I'm NOT blaming the victim, NOBODY deserves to be assaulted regardless of what state of mind they are in. I'm just saying things don't add up with this particular story.

Grown adults need to remember they are ultimately responsible for their own safety & well being when they are traveling. If you are going to drink yourself into an oblivion don't do it alone and don't blame the cruise line for serving you alcohol when you're the one signing off on the sales receipts for it. I don't understand why anyone would "get wasted" in an environment they aren't familiar with, there are just too many things that can go wrong.

  12. Just need some advice. I've been parasailing twice near Atlantis. Once we used a beach access down the road from Atlantis and found parasailing there. The second time we had limited access to Atlantis because we did The Dig so we were able to find our way to the beach & parasailing there. Now I'm taking my 15 & 17 year olds who haven't been parasailing & I'm wondering if I can still get to it from that beach access? I'm not really interested in paying $35 a person for an aquarium just so I can find my way to the beach. The main thing is I want them to parasail near Atlantis like their two older brothers did years ago, it was pretty cool getting photos of them with that in the background & I'm sappy enough to want the same photos with my two youngest now.

    Any help would be appreciated!
