I just stumbled across this thread.  On our recent cruise on Solstice we ate breakfast in Blu most sea days, and there were a youngish couple (a man and a woman) who were seated with a large family group.  Every morning they wore their pajamas and slippers to breakfast in Blu, and nothing was said by the staff or anyone else - not that I would've said anything to them either because it's not my place, but it was just kind of like, Blu is a bit fancy, and it's a bit weird to not at least have everyday clothes on?

Most of the time I don't notice or care what people are wearing, but I noticed that because I was so taken aback by it!  I wouldn't have ever considered going into Blu in my pajamas! 😄

OH MY GOSH -- ok. Not even on a dress code level but on a hygiene level that is soooooo nasty! Do you know how many skin cells are shed in pajamas? And people don't wash them every day? And people sweat and do other stuff in their pajamas? Ugh, that's just gross.

I know there is the POSSIBILITY of them getting up and putting on fresh new pajamas but if that was the case, why would you change out of pajamas just to put on other ones instead of a normal outfit?

Showed up after final payment for a December Edge cruise.  I thought at first that Celebrity had given us more credit because they had moved up the Inaugural cruise and also added earlier dates.  We had been booked on the original inaugural cruise.

For our upcoming cruise in 2 weeks, same TA, the Celebrity OBC credit of $300 showed online (we have already spent on excursions😉) but the $100 OBC due from our TA does not show.  That, and the $50 Loyalty OBC, normally do only show up once onboard. 🙂

EXACTLY which is exactly why I'm wondering why it was $100 more...

  3. I booked in January so I don't know if I'll be eligible for that offer.

Also, yes I'm Canadian but it did say it was in US funds.

I found this on my contract:

Shipboard credit may be used as a substitute for any perk listed and will be at least equal to the original perk's value.

I hope I didn't forfeit my free gratuities for the $400.

I'll call Celebrity and see what's up and let you know. Sort of confusing.
  4. I agree with the above poster for Mr.Sanchos. You get all you can eat and drink. You can splurge and get a 'cabana' that comes with a massage which is nice. Beach is nice, lots of festive music and exotic drinks! Just a fun atmosphere!

Walk down a bit and you get one of those fish pedicures too!

  5. I've sailed both -- I love Celebrity and they are my number one cruise line but they tend to get one-dimensional -- meaning there isn't much variety or difference between the ships or classes -- EDGE has changed that, but still. NCL has better entertainment and more "fun" stuff on board (80's party, waterslides, etc) however I would stick to the newer ships.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned here is the drink package situation. I'm HIGHLY ANNOYED that on NCL you don't get any specialty coffee or water with your drink package. On Celebrity you get to drink at Al Bacio which is an amazing coffee bar with speciality coffee and teas and it's all included. If you have the premium package you can get huge bottles of Evian. Because we love a good latte, this matters to us.

All in all Celebrity to me is more 'classy' and NCL is more fun. This is not to say that Celebrity is not 'fun' and NCL not 'classy', just that they lead in those areas.

  6. Equinox is already a great looking ship being in the Solstice class so I'm surprised that it's one of the ships going through the Revolution and/or being done at all. Constellation and those in the Millenium class should have been the first to be done IMO as they are definitely more dated...

I agree.  The world class bar just isn't the same.  Bring back the dry ice drinks!!

I sailed the Celebrity Reflection right before they shut down the Molecular Bar in 2015. They were no longer serving dry ice drinks. 😞 When I pestered the bartender to tell me why he said they were serving dry ice drinks on a Carnival Cruise ship and a passenger was ordered to NOT DRINK his cocktail until the smoke had dissipated. Said passenger proceeded to drink the drink anyways causing damage to his throat. He sued Carnival Cruises and WON and got a settlement in the 5 digits. Even though witnesses said he was warned not to drink it. So Celebrity was ordered not to serve dry ice drinks anymore as it was a 'liability'.

Because of the asinine moves of one, all must be denied. 😞

  8. I read this on the Cruise Planner section in fine print. My concern is that by 'activating' this 'pop up' OBC that I've forfeited the other four perks -- which I DO NOT WANT because Premium Drink Package for Two, prepaid gratuities, unlimited internet and $300 OBC is worth a hell of a lot more than $400 OBC.

Bookings benefitting from free gratuities or a free shore excursion promotional benefit rather than a Promotional OBC amount will see such benefit in Cruise Planner in the form of a Promotional OBC which will be available, should guests so choose, to utilize to purchase other amenities instead of those allocated in accordance with these terms.

  9. Hopefully someone can explain what just happened to me...I'll try to be clear and brief...

I booked Celebrity EDGE for NYE 2019/2020, We got a great deal on a website that specializes in cruises (we've booked with them many times) where we got Premium Drink Pkg, Unlimited Internet, Pre-Paid Gratuities and $300US onboard credit.

I went on the official Celebrity Website just to peruse around and check out possible shore excursions and this black box just popped up that said "You have $400 OBC to spend!" in hot pink. I had visited the site before and this hadn't come up.

I was a little skeptical because I've never had this happen before but I went ahead and booked some excursions and dinners and it was legit!

    My questions are:

    1) Is this some separate promo/contest which means I will still have my OTHER promos that I originally signed on for? (none of the original promos are acknowledged on the website reservation) including the original $300 OBC?

    2) If it was the OBC that was booked originally why is it $100 more?

    3) Is there any way at all that by activating this I forfeited my original booking promos? (the fine print on the booking documents says any change to the reservation forfeits the original promos which I DO NOT WANT)

I have sailed Celebrity four times already (last time was 2016) so I'm not sure if I'm missing anything here...

Believe me I'M NOT COMPLAINING I just want to make sure I know exactly what's going on...

    THANK YOU!
