We visited the Boatyard on our last trip, and it's about a 20 minute walk from the ships (we took a taxi; it was maybe a 5 minute ride). It's $20 including a lounge chair, umbrella if they aren't all taken, a drink, and transport back to the ship. Nice bathrooms, free wifi, it was really a great find! http://www.theboatyard.com/
Next door to there is Lobster Alive, which we hit up for some fantastic late lunch. They also have loungers and umbrellas if you like a quieter venue.

And who at the pier do they have to go over these custody/visitation legal papers, some of which can be wordy and complicated? Weekend Judges? Paralegals? Magistrates?
Nobody from the cruise lines will ask for documents like this.
Omg.
Yes you need documentation; here's a link:

Our very first cruise was on the Inspiration and we loved it! We did spend most of our time on the serenity deck - pretty darn awesome having a quiet(er) place to relax sans kids. Iirc our cruise left on a Monday

Cocktails are blended drinks. I posted a link for FAQs since you said you could not find it.
I asked a question about what you misunderstood.
And just WOW to everyone else. I should know better. Are you all having a bad day?
I believe you mean that blended drinks are cocktails - while it may be implied that they're included on the carnival site, it is reasonable to ask since it wasn't specifically stated (particularly since they did mention virgin blended drinks).

My sister has issues with motion sickness and has had great results when cruising with the wristbands. We always always traveled with green apples and ginger snaps (the ones from Trader Joe's are fantastic!) to help with the upset tummies. Access to fresh air and being able to see the horizon help me.
We had an inside cabin on our first cruise and I found myself feeling ill mainly in the mornings when we'd get up from bed. Luckily we were prepared and had Gatorade and water ready, and preordered toast, fruit, and tea. Having some simple food in my stomach and staying well hydrated made all the difference!

I love to people watch! [emoji102][emoji16] I don't know that's it's the weirdest, but my first cruise had a couple who wore their robes everywhere - day and night. I still wonder if their luggage had been lost or what lol

Since the splendor will be coming back to the west coast I'm especially interested to read about your thoughts on the ship. Did you check out the spa at all?

My husband and I are sailing in an 8 day cruise 12/18 on Sunshine. I've seen the prices for coffee, espresso, milkshakes. What is the cost of something such as a BBC or a frozen drink? We aren't heavy drinkers - am thinking perhaps a mimosa in the morning/coffee for him; maybe two drinks by the pool, a pre dinner drink, soda at dinner (he may get wine) and one during a show. Not sure that justifies the $919 cost for the two of us. Can anyone offer advice, please?
Going off of what you wrote I came up with the following:
Breakfast: 1 Small Fancy Coffee - 2.95 1 Mimosa - 7.50
By the Pool: 2 Drinks each at ~7.25 per - 14.50pp - 29.00 (Piña Colada, Daiquiri)
Pre-Dinner: Alchemy Bar - 8.95pp - 17.90
Dinner: 1 Soda - 1.95 1 Wine (Chardonnay) - 6.25
Show: Library Bar - 8.75pp - 17.50
Total: ~83.05/day pretax
Cheers: 49.95pp - 99.90/day pretax
Since I'm not sure exactly what you enjoy (or even if I read your post correctly) you'd have to adjust it accordingly. http://www.cruisemapper.com/wiki/711-carnival-cruise-bar-menu-prices

I believe this is from 2010. Does anyone have a more current wine list for the steakhouses? Is there a list of other liquor offered at that bar area (I'd like to see what else they have that differs from the rest of the ship).

You pay gratuities when you pay for the package, not on the individual drinks.
Yes it includes all the specialty coffees, virgin drinks, milkshakes, Red Bull, etc.

So we board sunday and I purchase on Monday, then I am charged for 6 days? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Since we are off the ship Sunday, right?
That's exactly right.

Some of the wines are $15-20/glass or more at the steakhouse bar (don't need to eat there to access it), and they have some higher end scotch as well from what I understand that can be pretty pricey. I think some of the top shelf mixed drinks are where it'd really start pushing the $50 limit.

This is a really cool program! We're going to be sailing during our anniversary (Thursday on a Sat-Sat cruise). If we actually were to get one of these, would it be on our actual anniversary date, or just sometime that week? I love wine, and the spa, and getting pictures of us together that aren't selfies [emoji16][emoji991]

It's great to hear that not all of the two-tops are scrunched up together. Did you email ahead of time or just speak to someone the day you boarded?
I'm also curious did you message John via fb?
I really enjoyed the fun tour when we took it. Was a bit surprised there weren't that many people doing it.

Love love love The Boatyard!!! There were other ships in port with us and it wasn't crazy. Just don't believe the people trying to hustle you into their vans to other beaches. This was my view from their beach:
I would also highly recommend eating at lobster alive! Yum!

I wanted to also mention that you should consider the cost of parking as well. It was almost the same cost for us to do a 'park and cruise' package at a nearby hotel as it was to park directly at the terminal.

We're 1.5 hours from the Port of Long Beach and stayed the night prior for our cruise. I've seen that drive take upwards of three hours before, and that was just from commuter traffic. Not worth the he stress for me.

You may want to check JCrew. They have a good selection of quite modest tankinis (that also happen to be on sale at the moment). I don't know offhand if they offer petite sizing, but they do go all the way to xxs, and the tops/bottoms are sold as separates so it's easy to mix and match.

Window Suites

I looked into booking a window suite but it says two twins/sofa/rollaway for four people. Are they not able to convert the twins in these rooms?
