  1. Does anyone know when we can expect to see more dates being added to the 2020 calendar ?. It has been stopped at May for a little while now.

I have recently checked on my future cruise letter and discovered that I have to book by the start of March 2019.

As I already have other holidays planned and also another cruise booked I need my next Princess cruise to be much later than is yet advertised,or is there any chance that Princess would extend my " Book By" date ?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Need to have decaf stuff so always take some Yorkshire decaf teabags for a proper brew or sometimes the M&S ones.

Apart from that we sometimes take loads of chocolates with us as we tend to save the ones left from Christmas or Easter and pig out on the ship ;-)

Oh, have always taken a 3 litre box of vino but no more as we will be good and abide by the new rules

Not long for us to go now ---- Oceana is on her way to Malta to pick us up !!!

Loads of chocolates !!! Let us know where you are,as we will also be joining in Malta ( 12th April) Lol

  3. Hi We are on a 7 night cruise and have read that we will have two formal nights and a black & white night / or tropical night.

Is the black & white night more of a "smart casual " night or will it be another Tux night for the men and evening dresses for the ladies.

Have done Black & White nights on Princess Cruises where it was smart casual, just not sure about P & O.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some information on WALKING THE WALLS IN DUBROVNIK.

Is it better to book through the ship excursions ( £42.00 per adult with tour of City first, including guide) or is it just as easy to arrange ourselves when we get into the city. Would there be tours with English speaking guides and would it work out cheaper.??

    Thank you in advance.

  5. This rumours seems to crop up every 6 months or so. To enforce a limit of say one bottle of wine per person would, I think be counter productive. Many cruisers prefer P&O because of their drink policy, and if this policy was to change, many would vote with their feet and switch to Princess, RCL etc.

The drink that passengers take on board to drink in their own cabins is in addition to the drink that will be purchased on board, not in place of on board purchases. I will drink a glass or two of my own wine when getting ready for dinner -if I no longer can take my own wine I will not be buying wine on board for my pre-dinner tipple.

Princess DO NOT allow any alcohol to be taken on board at the start of your cruise or when coming back on board at each stop.

  6. Hi bingo queen

I have some older GHDs which are UK voltage only but I have seen that they now do dual voltage. I ended up buying some other straighteners on-line that are dual voltage that I'll keep for holidays that were reasonable (£25ish), that will only need the US adaptor and work pretty well - variable heat etc.

Thanks, I will start looking now for dual voltage ones, hopefully will solve the problem.

  7. Buy some GHD's. I am British but live in Canada I buy GHD's when I am "home" and I travel all round the world with them, they adjust them selfs to the voltage they are plugged into. I wouldn't be without them. For Europe they have their own plug, you adjust the plug thats on them but for the US you will obviously need the plug that converts 3 - 2 pins. I know they are pricey but you just put a price on a decent pair of straighteners in my opinion.

Hi thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I have two sets of straighteners and I am almost sure I took my GHD's on my cruises and they didn't work. Also have the adapter plugs so not quite sure what to do next. !! Will probably just need to buy USA type ones when I get to America.

Thanks again and to everyone who took the time to reply.

  8. Have any British ladies had a problem getting their hair straighteners to work on the Regal Princess ? I am going on this ship in March 2017.

On my last two cruises, Sapphire Princess and Golden Princess my straighteners did not work in any of the electrical plug points in my cabin. I know the points were ok because I could charge my mobile phone but not heat up my straighteners. !!

Anyone know the reason why ?

    Many thanks in advance.

  9. The deck plans show the cabin orientations & your cabin B418 is a sideways cabin that is parallel to the hallway & is for 2 people.

Unfortunately their online deck plans do not show the red dot indicating when it's a quad cabin with the closed upper bunks protruding from the side walls like B430/431. It's possible to view quad cabins by taking an extra step of changing the number of "Guests" from "any" to "4". Deck plans in brochures do show cabin configurations.

Our only quad was a free upgrade from inside to obstructed OV on the Golden with the closed upper bunks protruding from the walls & we had them split the queen bed into twins to minimize our chances of splitting our heads on them.

Many Thanks for taking the time to reply.

  10. Thanks.

There's a technical definition for "white noise" that has to do with sound waves, pitch, frequency, etc. but essentially, white noise is background noise. It's sometimes called "sound masking." A fan is an example of white noise that you hear but which masks other sounds. White noise is not a bad thing. Quite a few people sleep better with some background noise and buy an app for their phone or use a small machine that generates white noise patterns to help them sleep.

Hi Pam, How can we tell if the inside cabin is 'side to side' or 'front to back' ? We are platinum members and this is the first time that i have learned that there is a difference. !!! We are booked on the Regal Princess for March 2017 cabin B418.

    Many Thanks.

  11. This is a little bit off the original post but I have Restricted myself on taking my hair straightners (maybe known as hair irons outside the UK).The last two cruises that I have done, my hair straightners did not work. I do however remember using them on the Sea Princess, does it depend on the ship or have things changed recently ?

I do understand the need to make sure there is no risk of fires onboard.

Does anyone know of "safer" lower wattage hair straightners that could be used.

    Maybe they ARE RESTRICTED ITEMS.

  12. We're probably the only people on the planet who intentionally went from a grand class, aft, full suite, to inside cabins thereafter.

We never spent any time in the suite, or on the incredible wake-view balcony, and felt it was a waste of money for us. It all depends on your cruising style. If you can convince yourself you're booking cheaper cabins to enjoy something else instead, maybe that'll help!

As long as you're ON a cruise ship, you have a great cabin!

We are like minded.Although the best we have gone are Balcony Staterooms,we also thought that we were not in our rooms long enough to justify the extra cost. Now we book inside and use the money saved for more cruises. For us it makes sense !!

  13. Hi Norris,

Following your exciting trip and amazing photos from here in Bonnie Scotland.

I have been to Venice three times and needless to say I LOVE Venice but I have never managed to capture such wonderful photos.

I know you said it is a Canon camera,I too have recently bought a new Canon for my next cruise to the Far East on the Sapphire Princess.I only hope that I can get amazing photos just like you.Although I am NOT great at getting up early to catch the best shots.I guess I better start setting my alarm here at home a little earlier and try to get into an early morning routine.!!!

Looking forward to the next episode. :):)
