how are the prices for balconies right now vs what you paid for your obstructed OV?

On our 2017 cruise we were upgraded for free from inside to deluxe obstructed balcony - randomly, by Princess. My parents got a $99/pp upsell offer for the same cruise, from inside to balcony. I called Princess and asked them, since the price for balconies was lower than what I paid for my parents' inside cabin, whether we could just get the obstructed balcony upgrade for free. Princess obliged and came through for us. That's why we love them.

We paid $1068 pp for the obstructed OV. Right now the least expensive balcony is going for $1480 I believe or somewhere in that ballpark.

I really can't believe how empty our ship is. There must be over 200 empty cabins in Inside, OV and balconies.

  2. I have a question. We received an upsell offer for $330 pp to upsell from an obstructed oceanview to a balcony. We declined the offer. We are sailing in about 35 days. There are over 50 balcony's still showing available. We are hoping for a better offer. Has anyone received a 2nd offer when you have already declined one?

This is for the Star 15 days to Hawaii.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

  3. Thanks .. we have the 11 am booked ...

was it easy getting on and off ... for someome who is 75 ?

We took this excursion the week prior. We had my 84 year old grandmother who uses a walker and it was easy for her to get onto the boat. They assisted her to a seat right in front. This was a highlight of our trip. Not to be missed.

  4. I was so happy to read this we have fttf for our august cruise on the miracle and we were not sure if it would be worth it. What time did you get to the port?:)

Hello, Our driver picked us up at 10 am we got to port by 10:30 and were onboard around 11 am. I felt like a VIP with FTTF.

  5. We just did Fttf out of Seattle. I loved it. Room was ready bags were there before we were and we were almost the first ones on the ship. Also I never had to wait when going to guest services. It was very nice and worth it!!!!

  6. I saw the double OBC promotion on my January 20, 2014 sailing on Splendor. On this promotion, the sailing sailing booked onboard had to begin by May 31, 2014. So if you were looking to book a cruise that sailed by May 31, then you would get the double OBC. I booked an on board cruise for January 2015 and I did not receive the double OBC. Bummer but it sure was a great deal.

When booking onboard do you pay full deposit at that time?

  7. My husband and I will be cruising to Alaska in June and our itinerary changed quit a bit, because of this we are supposed to get $50 pp OBC. When I look up our booking on Carnival website I cannot seem to find the OBC. Where would this show up if at all? If it is not on there do I need to call carnival?

My travel agent had to call today to have it added. I have heard others say they needed to also call. Make sure you get the 25% future cruise letter also.

  8. We are going to Alaska in June. My hubby has not flown since 911. I once went for 12 days to Walt Disney World and he vowed he would never stay home again. I will have to get him some anti anxiety medication but he has decided he won't stay home again. Have you checked to see if there is a train you can take. It will take time but it would be part of the adventure.

  9. On the Imagination the Port o' Call Special for Easter was Roast Rabbit served with either a red port reduction or sauce Bordelaise, I can't recall which. The "bunny" as the kids called it, was moist and tender.

Hahahahaha! That totally made me laugh out loud. I hope you are kidding.

  10. Talking to the upgrade fairy now for conquest sailing.

Currently have balcony (8C) on Empress and can upgrade to Ocean Suite on Empress for $520.

There will be three of us in the room (2 adults, 1 4-yr-old).

    What say you, Cruise Critic?

(Totally meant to post this as a new post, BTW...)

If your child was older and took up more space than maybe it would. 520.00 could pay for a lot of shore excursions and beverages. I would pass since you already have a balcony. Have a great cruise.

  11. Carnival also upgraded my grandmother to a Grand Suite since there were no more accessible cabins. She was not.going to be able to lift her leg 22 inches into the tub. Check on renting one and having it at the port for you when you arrive.

  12. I just received word from my TA that the Miracle is having technical issues and will be cruising slower than normal. This will effect out June 17th voyage. We will not be going to Ketchikan (my 40th birthday) but have more time in Juneau and Victoria. They will be giving us $50 per person shipboard credit and 25% off a future cruise. We are allowed to cancel and receive a 100% refund within the next 3 days. Has anyone else received this message?

  13. I remember many years ago we had the midnight buffet, than I remember carnival having only a one buffet late at night and it was a dessert buffet. It's been 7 years since my last cruise. We will be on the Miracle in June and I am curious what to expect this time. Thanks :)

  14. Can anyone whom has done the FTTF tell me how late you can disembark with the late disembarkation option. I have a grandmother that will need to move slow so we thought we would wait. Thanks.
