  1. Hanging Cabin Organizer - This is key if you have a family or an over-packing spouse. It makes the room so much more organized. If you get one, make sure it is  "flame retardant," so it adheres to cruise line policies and won't get confiscated while boarding. Also, I would get a mesh one so it doesn't get funky and moldy over time. Mesh also seems to fold up much more compactly.

Cruise Power Strip:  As mentioned by others, make sure it's Non-Surge. This is so clutch for keeping phones, laptops, tablets, gaming devices, etc charged. I've seen others suggest USB devices, but these technically violate Royal Caribbean's policy of "no extension cords." All USB charges I've seen have cords that extend the functionality and so violate the rule. Also, don't get a cheap one with few ratings. We've gotten "burnt" (quite literally) by the cheap, Chinese knock-offs before.

Towel Bands:  Soooo much better than towel clips because they're roughly 10% of the size. These work great on the top deck and also at the beach. One unintended benefit is that they make it much easier to find your pool chair amongst the "sea" of others.

Collapsible Beach Tote Bag:  We use a collapsible bag that scrunches up to the size of a wallet when not in use. We use it to bring stuff up and back from the pool. It comes in particularly useful at port. I'll bring two in case my spouse gets a bit souvenir-happy.

Cruise Luggage Tags:  I can't believe people staple pieces of paper together and hope their bags show up. Cruise luggage tags are a very cheap insurance policy to make sure you have your knickers when pushing off.

Cruise Cabin Night Light:  We bring a motion sensor device that sits in the bathroom and turns on when walking in at midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am... The regular cruise bathroom light can be a bit supernova-esque and also tough to find the switch while disoriented.

Cruise Key Card Phone Pouch:  We used to use cruise lanyards and have found this little gem recently. With lanyards, you have one extra item you need to remember. Obviously, my phone is the first thing that I grab... this key card wallet piggybacks my device so my key card is always there with my phone.

  2. I have one. I bought it a couple cruises ago and used it most recently on the Bliss.

It didn't fit on the back of the bathroom door (too big) but worked really well on the back of the adjoining cabin door. I actually found a pic of it, which I think confirms my wife accusations that I take WAY too many pics. I've attached that pic.

One thing to note... make sure to get one that's FIRE RETARDANT. Otherwise, cruise lines could confiscate that and (more devastatingly) hold you up at security while you're trying to get on. Here's the one I bought on Amazon - Fire Retardant Hanging Organizer.

  3. We visited two beaches while in Nassau. Our most important decision making factor was to stay close to port. From the ship, we took a taxi to Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island. It was very nice, but the solicitation got to be a bit much. When we got back to the port area, we had a couple hours so sat at the tiki bar on Junkanoo Beach for a couple drinks. I really enjoyed Junkanoo.

If I had to decide again, I'd consider some of the resort options.

Here's a really good map I found showing the best beaches near Nassau cruise port.

    Hope that helps!

  8. We are fresh off the Allure of the Seas where we booked a catamaran snorkel/ Dunns River Falls excursion with Triptelligent. The excursion was great with one MAJOR flaw ... we nearly missed getting back to the ship in time for departure!!! And by that I mean - just as the last person in our group got on the ship they said "that's it - close the gangway!" !!!!!!! This was after a one hour drive back to the ship from Ocho Rios - and our driver had to drive as speedy as possible while still being safe - and a full out sprint to the ship. There was no one on the catamaran that realized we were from the cruise ship and needed to be back in time. We kept telling them we had to get back so we wouldn't miss our ship and of course their reply was "no problem, it'll all work out." There were 16 of us in our group, so you think it would have been explained to someone in charge that we were on a time schedule. I feel Triptelligent majorly dropped the ball in making sure their clients were taken care of and in good hands. The cruise ships always warn about booking with local companies for that very reason (that you could miss the ship) and we nearly did. I cringe to think of what it would have cost to fly 16 of us to the next stop (after missing a day at sea). It really was a fun excursion but I would warn anyone of booking this unless you don't mind missing the ship.

    Hi Delyn3798,

How did you find TripTelligent when you decided to book with them? Thanks!

  9. Thanks! Shaded Lady Im so glad I glanced at your list because there were some things I didnt even think about on there (i.e. Highlighter and books).

    Hey muffinbaby!

Like UKJJ, I use Ship Mate for my packing checklist. It includes a bunch of great suggestions and is able to be edited. And, the app is free!

  10. I used to have this wonderful App on my iphone that counted down the days in front of a picture of your specific ship.

When I booked my upcoming cruise I went to find the App and upon noticing that I had probably deleted it from my phone, went to the App store to try and find it again and re-download it but was not able to find it. I was sad.

Did anyone else use this app? I, of course, don't remember the name of it. I do remember that you picked your cruise line and ship and it pulled up a picture of your ship as it's background. It also tracked your on-board spending which I had fun using each day. ....again....sad....

It's called "Cruise Ship Mate" and you can find it by searching in either the Apple or Android App stores.

I use it before every cruise to see who I'm cruising with and to check out the deck plans and my itinerary.
