  1. Hello,

I've spent hours reading through all the helpful Ravenna info here, and understand that we want to fly into either Marco Polo or Bologna, and stay either in Ravenna or Venice before the cruise.  I understand the train options between those cities.  But what I cannot figure out is the logistics of getting to either airport after we disembark.  We will be a group of 6, including children, and we have to fly home the same day.  Will RC offer some sort of transportation and if so-which airport?  Or are there easy-ish options to get to the airport (and which one?)?

Really want to show the kids and grandparents Venice for the first time (and their first cruise, too) but trying to minimize the chaos.  Thank you!

  2. We have sailed with NCL several times now, on smaller ships like the Pearl. We have always booked a suite in the past, either forward facing or aft, which we loved.

I am looking at a Mediterranian cruise that sails on the Epic and frankly I am very disappointed with the choice of rooms. It appears that the Heaven is the only room somewhat equivalent to the suites on the other ships, in that it allows you priority boarding and disembarkation and access to a different restaurant for breakfast and lunch. These are the reasons we loved having a suite. But the Heaven seems to be a lot higher priced than what we paid for the suites, and it has only been about a year since our last trip. Have prices really gone up that much?

An additional wrinkle is that this time we are traveling with a baby who will be 14 months at the time, so we will have a stroller, a crib and additional luggage with us. And we are also traveling with our parents, who only cruised once on a different cruise line and in an inside cabin. They hated it and are now hesitant...

Edited to add: I understand that the current promo expires soon. Anyone know when the next opportunity to get beverages and wifi will come up?

I don't think we can afford two heaven rooms. Would it be worth it for us to get one to have the extra space? Or would it be dumb since they won't be able to spend time with us in the fancy private areas? How small are the regular balcony rooms? They could still hang out in our room if we had the heaven, right?

I am so upset by the arrangements that I am almost considering a different cruise line, but for the fact that we put down a deposit last time......

  3. The quickest way to the pier would be a private water taxi. Look at the alilaguna schedule from St Marks to the pier to see how it will work for you. Or if you have purchased a vaporetto pass, you can easily take the water bus up to Piazzale Roma, walk a block to the People Mover for a 3 minute ride to the pier.

great, thank you! we are staying at Hotel Bonvecchiati, which I could not locate on the map. the hotel website states to take a shuttle to PR and vaporetto 1 or 2 to Ponte di Rialto.

it has been many years since I've visited Venice, and last time I didn't have luggage to worry about! (or a grumpy husband for that matter).

thank you to the nice person who provided the video!!!!!!!! goodness, I cannot wait!

  4. thank you both! I am actually not sure what stop I need--the hotel says to get off at Rialto to access it, but it also says that the square is right there as you walk out of the door.

we don;'t mind the walk and are able to walk long distances if necessary.

also--what is the quickest way to the cruise terminal? we'll likely try to spend as much time OFF the ship as possible so we'll be one of those last minute boarding people. we prefer being on land to being on a parked ship. so board priority so aren't too worried about lines.

    thanks again!

  5. We arrive in Venice around 10am the day before our cruise departs. Our hotel is near San Marco square. From what I understand, the cheapest way from the air port to hotel would be a bus to pizzalo Roma and then the vaporetto. Is that accurate? Would we be able to get on with a suitcase and a bag each?

We aren't really in a rush to get there so we want the most economical way. And also a way to get to the port the next afternoon.

    Thank you!!!
