    (2) The cruise ship operator must not sail or offer to sail on an itinerary longer than 7 days. CDC may shorten or lengthen the number of days permitted to sail based on public health considerations and as set forth in technical instructions or orders.

That pretty much rules out most current itineraries out of Florida in the near term.

I tend to agree with you, could be sometime before real cruising comes back.

  2. Are any of the caribbean islands taking cruise ships, I have read somewhere that St Kitts will not take any until 2021, we are due to sail out of Barbados on Dec 13th, but honestly don't think it will happen, we may need a covid test to enter Barbados, also there are a few islands that are in a bubble with Barbados, maybe those would only be the ones we could visit. We also like to go ashore independently so not too happy with shore excursions or nothing, a family on the MSC Grandiosa went on an excursion but then decided to do their own thing, the ship refused to left them back on apparently.

That is apparently not the policy in the United States. I wanted to cancel more than 120 days out, but my travel agent told me it would be a 15% penalty. I am not a very happy camper right now.

James forgot to mention, here in the UK we are being told it is unlikely we will be allowed to travel to Europe this summer with the exclusion of France, there is a 2 week quarantine for Italy and Spain at the moment and no one knows when this will be lifted.

My cruise line, Silver Sea, is requiring me to forfeit 15% of the almost $10,000 I paid them if I cancel by May 20. Fifty percent after that. Their cruise sails out of Venice, one of the epicenters of COVID-19 in Italy, in late August. My girlfriend doesn’t want to risk it.

Silver Sea claims they are still sailing, but I don’t really believe them. I believe they are claiming they are not canceling so as to make money off our cancellation fees. Any suggestions?

I have just re-booked a cruise out of Venice from Sept 2020 to Sept 2021 with NCL, we have done this cruise already 4 times and it is our favourite, I want to go and enjoy all that Venice and the ports 'O' call have to offer and feel comfortable and safe, that is why we have moved ours to 2021, fingers crossed everything will be much better by then. Hope you enjoy yours when ever you decide to take it.

  5. We have a cancelled cruise from March on the GEM which we are awaiting a refund, however we have a cruise also booked on the Dawn in September, after many weeks of the Dining options saying 'Too early to book come back 9th March' I have tried today to now book but have a difference message 'Not Available to book. Please check back later or once on board.'

I have never come across this before and wonder if NCL think this cruise will not sail, so will not let guests book and dining options. Very strange!

  6. Anyone had a call from NCL today, I returned home to find a message from Yarrow at NCL UK regarding my FCC which is still in my account due to my TA not yet processing my refund for a cancelled cruise on March 16th, just thought it odd after yesterday's CNBC with Del Rio that now we are receiving calls to assist with the FCC not the refund lol!!

Thanks for the update, was hoping someone would post something keeping us all informed. Again many thanks.

  8. Can you believe this, I have just emailed guest services in the UK re FCC not being fully used with a cruise fare and can it be used to pay for the gratuities here is the reply:

    Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email, we are able to split future cruise credits for future use, they do not all need to be applied to one booking.

We are fully all inclusive so do not charge extra for the likes of gratuities.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Kind Regards.

My understanding is that I can apply FCC to cruise booked and taken before Dec31,2021.

may only be applied once, cannot change to another cruise later. I have cruises booked for Dec 2021 and plan to apply my FCC to one when I receive it.

I have been given a FCC 150% with NCL and have an email stating the cruise can be take any time up to Dec 2022. We did request a refund from the agent on  15th March but as with many people nothing yet, not sure if I should think about rebooking, just not sure.

NCL has been identified as probably the weakest, financially, of the cruise lines.

We are in limbo at the moment, we had a cruise from NY on 16th March which was cancelled the day we were due to leave the UK, we asked our agent for a refund but as of yet have not seen any monies so was wondering whether to just bite the bullet and re-book for next year. Suppose there are so many people in the same situation it's hard to know what is best to do.

    Thanks

And there is a worldwide pandemic which is causing the economic distress. No fault of the cruise lines. Their financial house was fine until Covid came along (maybe not NCL). The business operation was fine...otherwise there wouldn't be the investment going on, raising the cash to pay refunds.

Sorry, but what do you mean by (maybe not NCL)

    Thanks

    Two questions...

    1) Is this the Customer Deposits number for ALL cruises or just for those under the COVID-19 cancellation period?

    2) Is this the Customer Deposits number for ALL cruises or just for those customers who are requesting a refund?

I would assume that they only need to refund just the cancelled cruises during the COVID-19 period where people are requesting a refund instead of an FCC. Also assuming that they carry no business continuity insurance that would cover them in case something like this happens.

Just realised I do have some, forgot about them as had them quite some time.

I am curious how you came about the latitudes pins, I assume these are for NCL

This supports my contention they are cash short. Why would you buy shares when if they do have an equity issue you will simply be diluted???

I continue to feel they will survive but project Leonardo will be canned or mothballed

What is Project Leonardo, sorry trying to stay in the loop regarding NCL, we are still waiting for a refund from 15th March cruise and have another one booked for September balance due end May, bit of a dilemma will NCL still be trading or will the sailing be cancelled.

I'll be the unpopular one here.  It's ok- I have enough friends.

I save up to pay for my vacations.  We automatically have money added to our vacation account with each paycheck.

We paid for our cruise.  We don't miss that money.  It was just money in an account.

NCL said, "We will give you a refund or 150% FCC."

We struggled to decide.  We don't "need" the refund because, it was money we already spent.  Offering the extra FFC is tempting.

So, after a lot of thinking we booked a cruise for January - an 11 day cruise!

And- I know it's all a risk.  It's a guessing game.  Maybe this will be awesome and in January we will take an 11 day cruise which we booked using a lot of FREE money.   Or maybe the company will tank and we lose it all.

But- the thing is, we had already spent that money.  If someone is so upset about waiting for money that they already spent then maybe it's about the way you're looking at things.  NCL is trying to figure out how to sustain themselves.  I hope they manage to do it.  I don't want this company to tank over something that isn't even their fault.  They are not trying to screw anyone.  They are trying to survive.  Do you really NEED your refund right away?  If so...there are other questions.

    So let the stoning begin

We were offered the 150% FCC but were told by our TA that would only cover a cabin upgrade so our mini suite would then have to be a suite I guess, decided to go for the refund which we are still waiting for as the cruise was for 16th March, it does say on the FCC credit on my account that the full amount must be fully used which meant we may have had to pay more to go on the same cruise.

I noticed the website now says FCCs can be used for cruises from 10/1/20-12/31/22. Wasn’t it 7/1/2020 - 12/31/22 before?

We should have sailed from NY on 16th March, on the 15th March we opted for a refund via our TA (not received yet). my NCL account shows 150% FCC with dates 01/12/2012 - 03/30/2021 not much time to re-book if that was what we were going to do, we have another NCL booked for September on the Dawn from Venice, the balance for this is due in May not sure what to do at this point as I am not sure NCL will be sailing in September and given it's from Venice Italy.

Let's concentrate on your situation, not mine.   Because you've  rec'd an FCC for you, the question is "does your DH have an account on NCL?"  The FCCs are being sent to each passenger, so, create an account for your DH using his Latitudes number.  This will allow the FCC for him to be applied to the account.

Not sure why but apparently NCL is giving individuals the FCCs, not the person who paid for the cruise.

    HTHs.

    PS;

Two other threads which might be helpful:

Thanks very much for the info, we will just have to be patient and wait for the refund from Virgin, we are also due to cruise on the Dawn from Venice in September but thinking this might not happen, will re-book this one if not as this is our favourite cruise but this year we added a Lake Garda stay which we have never done so want to do this. Hope your future cruises happen soon, no doubt we will all enjoy them more than ever once we are back on the high seas again. Stay safe in Canada.

This is so strange.  I cancelled my cruise (Mar. 13th) for the Dawn Mar. 29 and rec'd an email 2 days later to confirm the amount I'd be receiving as an FCC. I received the FCC on my account on Mar. 27th.

Were you not expecting a FCC, did you ask for a refund, I have asked for a refund for our 16th March NCL GEM cruise and now have a FCC in my account, not sure what is going on, although it only looks like the credit cover one cruise passenger, looks like I will have to leave hubby at home!
