Your TA seems to think someone already cancelled the H1, but in all likelihood it's still booked and they are taking bids just in case someone cancels at the last minute.  NCL always takes bids on all categories, regardless of how many cabins are truly available.

This is not my experience.  We were on the Gem in 2017 and I posted bids on a number of categories but the garden villa was not in my list to bid for.  I kept watching cabins and what was sold out and checking my bids.  Late in the game the garden villa showed up, we placed a bid and got it. I’m guessing a lot of bidders never saw it because they didn’t check their bids.

  2. Gem 10/21 just gave away most of the Haven and Suites. I happened to have checked inventory yesterday and there were 17 available, I got my notice at noon and went back to check and inventory shows only 4 remaining. My min amount for GV was accepted. It was flat “poor” but apparently no one else wanted to even put their toes in so I got it. I had lowballed most of the rest of my bids so sort of expected to stay in my balcony. All told, GV for $3700/pp 10 days. Still expensive but not full price.

  3. Alright, my 90 days out date is approaching and I'm trying to figure out what email address I should be looking for. Searching the thread is a bit hard since nearly everyone mentions the word email :)

Can someone tell me what the from address is on the bidding email so I can put out an alert to watch for it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  4. Hmm, well in NYC after we got off the BA, as Haven passengers we skipped all the lines to get to the baggage collection area at the port and then were directed towards the "express" (i.e. shorter) customs line that porters and those disembarking with wheelchairs used after we showed our Haven key cards.

I had the same experience in NY. Haven pathway to bypass the disembarkation lineup to baggage claim then the "express" customs line to bypass the zigzag lineup for a customs officer. THEN the real world hit trying to get a taxi!

  5. I have quite a few magnet hooks, magnet pockets etc from cruising and sadly? Discovered that the Haven suites I've been in have very little metal. Standard cabins have had the metal walls, Haven seems to have some sort of paneling that is not magnetic.

  6. We were in a Haven Spa room. I had read on here that there was a back entrance available from off the Haven Spa room hallway, but when I was on board, I was told that wasn't open for passengers. To get to the Spa, you walk through the gym area on the 16th floor and through the glass doors to the spa.

We had to use our Haven card to go through the "special" door. Regular passengers would be stuck in a dead end.

  7. There is a staircase down from the Haven that gets you to the spa exercise area. You are still going in the front door of the spa to get to the thermal spa. The door from the Haven opens up just past the weights room so you end up walking past the treadmills and weights to the spa, check in and walk back to the thermal suite.

  8. Do you know this for a fact? This has never been our experience. KFamily confirms the same above. No change to their promos for an upsell. Just ask how much $ and if anything will change re promos and then make your decision.

The key difference is Upsell department or "Upsell" yourself via the regular reservations department. If you call Upsell and take what they are offering you keep your promos. If you call the regular reservations line it is typically a cancel/rebook so you lose what you had and get what they are currently giving.

  9. Thanks Jenjer,

We're not really worried about kids, is more so the convenience and ease of finding a place to bake in the sun without the noise of main pool deck. We are generally up early, but who want to fight to grab a chair? We're on vacation trying to decompress, not get stressed about a lounger.

And I agree, I do feel that going after Vibe passes is "double dipping". I don't want to be that guy who gets a vibe pass and barely uses it. As long as the Haven sundeck has a place to layout, beverages are served and I can get into some kind of water like a hot tub, I think we'll be just fine!

Our biggest problem is that even the haven had inconsiderate people. On my sailing we had an extended family group (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 3 kids) take a cabana, 4 poolside chairs, and all 6 of the pool loungers. They held them all day with stuff, the group came and went but rarely was the entire group together needing all of that seating. I definitely saw other groups saving not sitting in sears but there were plenty of loungers upstairs in the shade.

  10. They don't sell them prior to the cruise. We go get ours after we get on board. I think the thermal suites are much better on NCL than Carnival. We had it for the first time on Epic and always get it on every ship that has one. We have used thermal suite on Epic, Star, Dawn, Jewel and in 2 weeks we will get it on the Pearl. For CCL we have had it on Dream and Breeze.

I have not tried the salt room, but plan on it when we go on Breakaway next year.

They sell them at a slight discount if you order them before the cruise, so they can be acquired prior to the cruise. ($179 instead of $199 on my last cruise)

  11. My 18yo was a child as well from her previous cruises. The cruise consultant folks can fix it but apparently it's not an automatic system update. She went from child to platinum and they gave her a new card. Still got the corner clipped to indicate under 21 for bar service.

For final disembarkation, my understanding was that the concierge would take all Haven guests who were ready off the ship as soon as it cleared customs, but if anyone was not ready, they would have to wait in line with everyone else. (This does not apply to those who walked off with their luggage, only those who had it delivered to the port). Our concierge took us down in the crew elevators and directly off the gangway. It was awesome.

On the Getaway last month Haven guests were escorted off in waves all morning. They would just ask "who's ready to go" and then take that group down directly to the gangway.

  13. The only difference other than size ( separate bedroom/living room and very large balcony) is a more extensive list of concierge amenities- your choice of 3 bottles of alcohol (including wine, port and kahlua), sparkling or still bottles of water and soft drinks. If you have the UDP, then none of this really matters. We only booked it over the Haven Penthouse Suite because of the separation of the rooms.

Aren't the 3 bottles of alcohol/replenished soft drinks Etc only with the deluxe owners suite?

  14. Okay, called and got em to send me my amenity confirmation and it's listed as 4 meals. He did say that if I upgraded that this would change though. Was hoping to call the upsell line in a few weeks :(

Most likely if you upGRADE you lose the promo you had but if you UpSELL you keep the promo you had.
