Also we asked about free water at dinner and were told no!  The right hand does not know what the left is doing in the company.  sad.

We had the same. We asked about the free water and were told no. We had to pay for the water. I know we should get free bottled water as we booked from the USA but I didn't want to make a fuss so just paid.

Just don't understand how they can promise things but not deliver just to save on a few cents.

Suggested embarkation times are very rarely enforced.

This is what I thought too but  I can tell you that sometimes MSC does enforce the suggested embarkation time. Maybe it all depends on the embarkation port.

On our last cruise out of Southampton (just few weeks ago), we had a boarding time of 14:30 and we were not allowed to board  earlier than that. We were not even allowed to enter the departure building and we had to wait in the arrival hall area until around 14:15 before we could go over to the departure building.

  3. According to the Hamburg port info, we will dock at the Steinwerder cruise terminal.

This is for the Preziosa. This terminal seems to be located furthest out and difficult

to get to and that is why we want to know more about the process and timings so

we can decide whether we can go to the city or not and prebook any transport.

  4. We have booked 2 cruises B2B at Hamburg and I am wondering how the process will be and

the timings. The ship arrives at 7am and leaves at 9pm that day.

I think we need to get off and then get on again as new passengers (also need to change cabin)

and we would also need to attend the drill again. (not sure if that will happen on the day itself

as departure is scheduled late at 9pm)

If we want to book anything for Hamburg on that day (transport to city or excursions), what

time would be safe to book ?

Has anyone done this and can share their experience ?  TIA

  5. Will any of the July or August 2014 cruises be included in this kids sail free promo ? I guess not because summer is high season but as far as I can tell there are still lots of availabity for lastminute cruises so maybe they will include it ? Maybe someone with insiders info may know ? Thanks

  6. I happen to watch this cruise and I can still see many categories available today.

Are you booking for 2 guest ? If so, I can still see many inside categories on sale where I can select a cabin number (not GUA). For example IC,IB,ID,IF etc. This is just from the NCL website.

If booking for more people in the same cabin then quite often you can only book GUA close to the saling date.

  7. Question: Does anyone know if these cruises were offered in the Kids Sale Free Promo? If so my theory is they already have too many 3rd & 4th etc. cabin guests so this forces people into two cabins instead of one where lifeboats are nearly full but the ship isn't.

I am not sure for the June 7 cruise but I am sure the July cruises (where the same more expensive pricing logic appears for the 3th person) did not qualify for the kids free promo.

I guess only NCL revenue department knows why this is done ! I can't find any logic behind it. From what I can see, there are still many rooms available on the cruise.

  8. We are considering to book the Getaway and we are first time NCL cruisers.

I was pricing the cruise for June 7 and was surprised to see that the third person gets charged much more that the first and second passenger.

For example, first and second pax would cost $579pp but third pax costs $829.

I would expect that the third pax would cost less. Is this an usual thing for NCL. Looks like they don't encourage you to book more than 2 in a stateroom.

  9. Are you in driving distance to a port? If so, you may want to wait a bit until after final payments are being made. Even though summer prices are high now, you can still get lucky on a cruise in the slower time periods. Early to mid June, and mid to late August, you may see some last minute pricing that is a decent deal. Also I have found that the last week in July is typically less expensive than the first 3 weeks for some reason.

So keep checking. Even though you aren't finding good prices with kids sail free, there will be other deals coming up. They have to fill up their ships. If you are not picky about category or location you should be able to find something at a price you like if you just keep looking.

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, I am in driving distance to the ports (Florida). We are staying in Orlando the whole month of July so it's easy enough to book something really lastminute. But I realise that July is a high demand month and most cruiselines are running promo's right now to fill their ships so chances are slim that prices will get any lower than they are now.

But anyway, we are very flexible indeed so will keep an eye out.

  10. You can do this on NCL (also having a kids sail free promo) but I don't believe you can on RCI.

EDIT - NCL gives an average price per person. So it may appear as though the kids are not free but they are.

Yes, I found out that you have this search function with NCL and DCL. Though not really needed for these 2 cruiselines because their 2 person sharing price is very accurate so I can easily know the price for 3 sharing even I search for 2 sharing. They don't bump up the price when booking for 3.

It's only with RCCL where I feel the frustration because the 2 sharing price differs so much with the 3 person sharing price. Hence I was looking for the easy search functon but I guess RCCL just doesn't want to make this easy for you otherwise you will not be enticed to book this so-called 3rd person free promo.

Anyway, I have already given up with RCCL and I know (as another poster suggested) that I am just too late for any good deal for this summer. No problem, it's not really a big deal, just thought I could try RCCL if there is any good deals out there. I realize the summer prices are easily more than double so I will have to forget about it for the time being !

Thanks anyway for all the comments !

  11. Are you checking off for another discount like res, senior, mil/police? That's what happens to us if we do. Looks like the kids sail free can't be combined. If we check off any of those with 2 people, the discounted price comes up. If we add a 3rd person, we get the regular cabin price with the 3rd person free.

No, not checking those boxes. I can get a quote for 3 if I enter for 3 people but then I have to do it cruise by cruise. I was just wondering whether there is some site that allows you to enter the number of people and then it will shows you a list of available cruises (e.g. for the whole month of July) with the correct total amount for the 3 people in the cabin. The same what you would get if you do a normal search where the site will assume you are a party of 2.

I do not have a specific date or ship or itinerary in mind and I am just trying to find out a good deal for 3 people. I know I can get the details if I select s specific cruise and then enter for 3 people but that takes lots of time.

I know I can ask a TA to do this for me but I have yet to find a TA that is responsive enough for me and I like to be in control of the booking myself so much prefer to book directly.

I guess I am asking for something that does not exist !

  12. I am having trouble finding a good price for 3 people. Does anyone know a site where you can enter 3 people and it shows you a list with all the total price for the cabin ? Right now, I have to select a sailing first before I can enter 3 people and it shows me the cabin price.

I am looking for a cruise in July but whenever I see a price for 899 pp, it will go up to 1599 pp if I enter 3 people. I understand the demand and supply theory and I am aware that this is just a marketing strategy from RCCL but for me it is very difficult to search for cruises as the 2 person sharing price differs so much with the 3 person sharing price.

Anyone knows a site or a tip/trick how I can search more easily for 3 people's price ? TIA for any tips !
