We did the Bamboo Beach Break (Carnival) quite some time ago and it was by far the worst experience ever. The beach was not clean at all, facilities were improvised, the buffet was disgusting (sorry but its true) and all was focused on loud music and sexy dances (too sexy for my taste, almost a bunch over the top).

There is not really anything within walking distance of the pier...and I agree, Doctors Beach is one of the best there is in MoBay. If taking a taxi (don't think there was a shuttle available), make sure it is a licensed taxi, you wont ever have a problem with those guys as they are under strict supervision of the government...

We used Shore Excursioneer Falmouth Excursions to do the BM Experience. I think there was a HUGE difference between this excursion and the ship sponsored one. When we arrived and checked in at Nine Mile, about 200 people from the ship just finished their tour, that place was PACKED! Once we were ready to tour the premises, it was just our group, nobody else. Our guide was so happy to give this tour to a small group rather than hundreds of people and showed us stuff you do not get to see (or do...haha) with the ship's excursion. I think we got 5 times the value out of that experience, no joking!

We did it back 2 years ago...was not something we would recommend, the only highlight is the activity but not much to see. Maybe they changed the location?

We did the Orient Beach Break in St Maarten. It's not an all inclusive deal (no open bar but all the rest is included also lunch) and that was probably a better option as sometimes the AI places are more about party, cheap booze and food...this place was great, excellent food, nice and quick service...we were happy.

We did the Sightseeing & Two Reef Snorkel Fun excursion in Roatan and were very happy. Compared with snorkeling in Cozumel it was definitely worth it as well. The reef is different but very exciting, a lot to see, safe and enjoyable.

Our taxi did not even have seatbelts...at least the main road to the beaches, etc...is just a straight road :D

We've been to Cozumel many times (cruise and resort). We visited Nachi Cocom 2 times, the first time was 3 years ago and it was nice. Small, great service and nice beach. The next time we went it was really crowded (that beach caters to 2 local hotels) and service was bad...and the facilities were run down as if nobody took care of it. Palancar was recommended by our concierge. The beach is nice but really not a lot of sand, it seems they have an erosion issue. The only real bad thing were the flies all day long and worse...the mosquitoes by 4pm...sorry, as much as we liked it, we will not be back for those 2 exact reasons...

Punta Langosta, this one is right in the center of Cozumel downtown, no need for a taxi if you want to go shopping. I remember Carnival docking there as well years ago, I wish they'd still dock there so you save some money (taxis are kind of expensive in Coz)

We did the Catamaran Sail and Snorkel Tour in Cozumel and also Uxmal in Progreso, great excursions, I think much better organized and personalized than the ship's excursions we took 2 years back. Plus we were able to save quite a bunch of $ (ok...we then spent it in the casino but we had fun doing it!)

We've been to Papitos just 3 weeks ago, laid back is really the word, haven't seen any similar beach yet in Cozumel. No beach vendors, no jets ski noise, no boat traffic....relaxation pure :)
We took a taxi and the driver actually waited for us at the location to take us back, transport was no problem at all..the staff can also call a taxi for you they told us.
Food items were different salads including shrimp and chicken cesar, main courses were marinated arachera Mexican flank steak, grilled shrimp, grilled chicken fillet, grilled fish fillet (FRESH stuff!!) and a surf and turf mix (either with chicken or arachera). The food was ..... EXCELLENT!...you cannot compare it with regular beach club foods, that stuff was tasty, fresh and great size. This will be our no1 beach to go in Cozumel in the future!

One of the pursers told us that they are testing a new internet provider and if all works out, they will go fleet wide with it. Agree, 300MB is more than enough for FB, email, etc. Once you want to download pics, movies, music, etc...you may want to go with 1GB

was a great trip!

Our vote goes for San Pedro island!

We went there for lunch last year. Food was good, service was excellent but it was not cheap compared to other places we found...

The Fe Catamaran was our pick and we can confirm their TA rating!

Looks like they have a beautiful beach!
-
Yep, still open, we did their all inclusive package just last April.

On the google maps it looks like a 5min taxi ride.

We just checked with Cozumel Water Sports and they canceled all their dolphin tours. When you get to the dolphin swim page they show a popup that they no longer "approve" these activities. That made us think twice indeed . Should that be a good or a bad sign?

Costa Maya is a "day on the beach" port. We did go to the Mayan ruins the first time there, so we saw that part. The beaches in downtown are really nice and there are several little restaurants right on the beach as well.

We did not find it boring but very relaxing...you are not really looking at a lot of action but for sure it is a little adventure.
-
We had not problem paying in USD but be careful, BZE dollars are sometimes 2x1 so make sure you understand the quoted price :)

Very different destinations....we like them both but prefer the Caribbean...there is something about those white sandy beaches and blue waters..:)

We did the Catamaran Sail, Snorkel & Beach Break @ Doctor's Cave excursion with Shore Excursioneer company earlier this year. I agree, this is one of the best beaches we could see in the bay...to get to other beaches you need to drive south for quite a bit, so that option seems perfect for Montego Bay
