  1. We are also on this cruise and pretty much agree that it is not the usual standard we have come to expect from Celebrity.  We are also elite plus and have done a number of transatlantic cruises. It saddens me that this much anticipated cruise on a stunning ship for our silver anniversary has fallen short mainly due to staffing issues.

We are also in our cabin due to the high seas. I did finally manage to get an answer from room service and it's an hours wait for the food due to high demand.

It's not all been bad. We have had wonderful food in all venues. The staff are trying their best. I did email the executive office with my concerns but have yet to receive an answer.

Interested to hear any responses on this as we will also have to put a claim in

I was on the July 3rd cruise.  I sent our claim for private pcr tests to the UK customer relations address. I sent a screenshot of the receipt and scanned the completed claim forms which accompanied the PCR test info e ,mail we received pre cruise. About 7 working  days after return I got an e mail confirming the refund would be applied to the card they have on file which we paid our cruise balance with.

It said allow 30 days but it showed up after a week.

When we’ve parked at the port the car park has been right next to the ship. We’ve parked up and left our suitcases behind the car where they have been collected and taken on board. There are plenty of port personnel about to help. Lock your car and take your keys with you and head off into the terminal!

They were taking your luggage again on Saturday.

  4. Ended up going with Assured Screening at Newark for our PCR tests as they offered evening appointments.

We arrived an hour before our scheduled appointments as we left loads of time for traffic yesterday but they let us in early, nice staff, took self test in a booth, was given a barcode so I could track when it arrived at the lab. Got the results by e mail just now. used the 24hr service. very relieved to have negative results, now we can finally pack and look forward to the cruise this Saturday.

    Phew!

  5. I am loving watching the repeats of this.

Its interesting to look back especially knowing that it launched Jane Macdonald to stardom and all the ups and downs that followed

Cant believe it's almost 25 years since it was filmed.

Our first Celebrity cruise was on the Mercury, sister ship to the Galaxy in 2002. Great memories.

I contacted our local place Eurofins is using. Apparently, as has been said, they are ‘renting’ space. Ours is a local Travel Agency. Eurofins are visiting them on the 28th June to set up the process. It sounds like Eurofins are supplying the people to oversee the testing. The manager took my email and said he would let me know if there were any issues with Eurofins, which I felt was very good of him. We are on the 17th July sailing, so third one in and hopefully any issues should be ironed out by then. I don’t envy those of you on the first two sailings.

Yes the travel agent they are using in Grimsby told me pretty much the same thing. One of their staff will oversee the test you complete yourself. I did mention about the awful reviews and she was quite aware of them. she said the problem had been down to Royal Mail and they will be now having a courier pick up the tests at 5pm every evening.

I feel a bit more reassured, now I just need to decide whether to get our own or stick with Eurofins!  Certainly feel like a guinea  pig on the 3rd July sailing!

@vino123 do you have details of the provider in Newark please? I’m about 20 minutes from Newark and it would be a useful backup option.
    Many thanks.

    It's on this link

    https://www.assuredscreening.com/covid-testing-locations/

Just put your postcode in the search and the Newark location should come up.

The online reviews for this company are much more reassuring than the ones I have read for Eurofins.

  8. it seems like this whole PCR testing thing is a bit of a money making racket. The private test I booked as a back up is in an industrial premises in Newark and the Eurofins  one via Celebrity is at a back street travel agents in Grimsby!

Both locations are a 2 hour round trip for us . Our local Boots only offers postal tests,  I'm inclined to keep the private booking as its an evening one so much more convenient for my husband as he wont have to take time off work but the payment receipt I have is only in my name and Celebrity needs a receipt with both names to reimburse the costs. I have e mailed the company to ask for one but haven't had a reply yet.

It really doesn't have to be so complicated if only they would offer us antigen tests at the port especially as we are all fully vaccinated.

  9. Just had some clarification from Celebrity regarding the timing of the PCR tests for our 3rd July cruise:

    Hi Lisa

We have finally had confirmation back in regards to when your test needs to be done.

    Silhouette 3rd July sailing

Rt-PCR tests can be done anytime on June 30th and July 1st

The 2nd July should not be booked to do a test as the guest needs to allow time to get back their test result.

Just out of interest, has anyone on the first few sailings been contacted by the Retreat concierge yet? Usually they reach out at around 30 days with an email. We are on July 17th sailing yet and nothing so wondering if anyone on the 2 sailings before have had anything?

On the July 3rd in a sky suite, not heard anything yet🙂

  11. Just had a an e mail from Celebrity regarding the 3rd July sailing. Basically Dover and Liverpool have been added and Greenock cancelled. Belfast brought forward a day.

"We look forward to welcoming you aboard Celebrity Silhouette® for your 6-Night UK Cruise sailing from Southampton, England on 3 July 2021. Before we depart, we have some important information to share regarding your itinerary. Celebrity Cruises has been working closely with health and government authorities, in each country we sail from, to outline a clear path for cruising with new health and safety measures. As we thoughtfully plan our return to service, we are evaluating all current itineraries and the status of travel conditions around the world. This means some of our sailings will need to be modified. Specific to your future Celebrity Silhouette sailing, we have added a call to the port of Dover on Sunday, July 4, now followed by Belfast on 6 July and replaced our call to Glasgow with a full day in Liverpool on 7 July.

We anticipate that guests will be permitted to debark Celebrity Silhouette in ports of call where there are no restrictions put in place by port authorities or local government. If and where local restrictions are in place, Celebrity Cruises will only allow guests who have booked a curated shore excursion to leave the ship to ensure we adhere to the protocols they have defined.

  12. My cruise consultant called me this morning from Celebrity and reinstated my booking. She said they are aware of the deposit situation but are working to resolve it and also reinstate any shore excursions etc on the bookings.

She confirmed that it was an error from someone the USA and about 100 bookings are affected.

  13. No children with us either so it's not that. My cancellation invoice has a £220 cancellation fee which would not be charged if Celebrity cancelled the cruise so that's why I hopeful it's an IT glitch. I'm sure all will become clear when they open at 9am. I expect their phone lines will be red hot.

  14. We are booked on the Navigator 23rd Dec cruise on H gty and still haven't had our allocation.  I notice the entire cruise is showing wait list in all categories.

We booked in February 2018 and was not on any wait list.

Fingers crossed we get something soon. Not sure how they work it when all categories are showing as unavailable?
