  1. Craft beers have been ignored for too long.....😥😥😥

Perhaps Princess should create a new position that specializes in procurring craft beers from around the country. Is there such a thing as a brew sommelier?

Now, where should I send my resume'?

  2. I use a lanyard worn around my neck and while on the top deck wind gust blew the pass out of the pouch. I should have had it under my shirt. If it's Ok to mention company names I found a holder made by Swiss Gear that's worn around the neck. It has three pockets with Velcro to hold them closed. Can carry passport, Sea Pass and receipts easily.

I'm a lanyard wearer, too. But I don't use the pouches since I lost a card on my 2nd cruise. I have a paper punch that I keep in my travel gear & use it to make a hole in one end of the card. That's where I'll thread the lanyard keyring to keep it from getting away from me. The card and my bottle opener. Funny how many new friends I meet when I have that opener and someone has a bottle. :D

My lanyards have a buckle toward the card end so I can unclip and present to the bartender, waiter, cashier. I don't always have pockets, so this is just a matter of convenience for me.

  3. There's a web site (Legacy dot com) that allows you to search obituaries. It also provides a link to the Social Security Admin's listing of death records. No SS#'s necessary, just a name. Might be worth a look see to find out if someone with your name (or similar) that lived nearby passed away around the time this started. If Princess is accessing such records, it may explain what's been happening to you.

  4. They are all $12.95, except for the Royal and Regal which are much larger & much more expensive. I think about $30.

Still trying to figure out why Princess changed the size of the models for the Royal & Regal. Here we have all these cruisers purchasing memories of one size and then they switch. Kind of like collecting Matchbox cars then changing to Tonka trucks. I passed when we sailed the Royal last year.

  5. Well I wish I had been the only one to experience this gremlin but it's nice to know I'm in good company.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had cleaned my cache and still was running up against a brick wall before I tried my old email. It's having to use the newer password that has me shaking my head.

Oh well, just as long as Princess didn't get hacked. I'm back in business and hope everyone else has cleared up the issue on their end also.

  6. I went to log on this morning, as I normally do to watch the # of days count down till our next sailing, and the site wouldn't let me in. I thought maybe I fat fingered my password. No, that wasn't it. I'm set so it keeps my email & password so I don't have to enter them. Hmmmm.

Later in the day, I decided to try again. Same results. So on a whim, I input an old email I haven't used with Princess in years. It worked! Some how, my old email was reinstated. But it used my current password.

I changed it back to the current email but I'm still doin' a head scratch. (no,there aren't any bugs up there:p)

  7. No, everyone to whom you write a check has that info. You can't "drain an account" with only that info, not even with the name and address, either.

Sorry to disagree with you, but knowing this information will allow anyone with basic computer skills to begin the writing checks anywhere they want. I've seen many counterfeit checks where accounts were reduced to pennies. Will a bank reimburse the account holder? Eventually perhaps but the damage is done.

  8. As was mentioned, the midship minis do have a slightly larger balcony. We had cabin C410 on the TA and found it to be sufficient. Nothing like those the OP is used to, but still large enough that an UBD would be possible. I have some photos posted here in the CC gallery @ http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=252921

We were far enough below the Skyview Bar that privacy for us wasn't an issue from above.

    Hope this helps.

  9. I received a letter from Princess in Santa Clarita, Ca from someone in the Credit & Collections department that shows a "Unpaid Booking Balance" of $48 with a hand written note at the bottom. It says "We refunded $48 too much in error. You received a credit of $xxxxx. Please return $48.00 and we do apologize for the inconvenience." No signature but at the bottom it says "Finance Representative" with a phone number. There is a second page with a form for payment that I can fax or mail in with a persons name on it. It also came in a Princess envelope.

It's for my May 23rd Alaska cruise on the star.

Anybody received a letter like this?

    Tom:)

As others have mentioned, contact your TA to verify the charge. What ever you do, do not call the number on the letter. At the very least, use a known Princess phone number to discuss the charge. The number on the letter could be as bogus as the letter, if it is indeed a scam.

  10. Most likely a credit got misapplied and technically you do owe it. You should call to verify authenticity, but its a pretty elaborate ruse for $48.

Pretty interesting technique actually. If the OP were to send a personal check for the $48, and this were a scheme, the recepiant would have the OP's bank routing # and account #. Next thing to happen would be a drained checking account. Or if the credit card info was sent, the information to make online charges would be available.

Phishing ideas are pretty creative, and costly, should someone not check the source of the request.

  11. Will we beable to book in the next few weeks?

Every thing that I've read so far indicates bookings open on Tuesday, March 11th.

    (open, open ,open...)

And a big Thank You, Bizziecruzer, for posting the dates. Much appreciated.

  12. Just curious, did you come back covered with a fine grit? We did the dune buggies on Aruba a few years ago, and took along bandanas to cover our nose and mouth, but also came back with fine dust embedded in our clothing. It was a lot fun - just kind of gritty.

We did the buggies in January while sailing on the Crown. Yes, you will be gritty by the time you return. The buggies are open and there's just no way to avoid the dust.

Be ready to step on the brakes when stopping. And I mean step on 'em. They don't have power brakes so you don't want to follow too close to the cart in front of you.

Just before arriving at the beach, there's a hill that they send you up one at a time, be ready and don't stop or you'll never reach the top. Lots of fun going up and coming back down. Thought of this hill while watching the Olympic mogul event.

Getting in and out was interesting. I'm a bigger guy and not as flexible as I was in my youth.

  13. We were not able to get to our cruise because of ice conditions. What recourse do we have?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Hopefully you purchased travel insurance. I'd contact Princess and discuss the options that may be available for you.

    Stay warm and be safe.

  14. So far the Princess ships I've been on have even numbers for Port side rooms. Also, the carpet runners have red in their design whereas the Starboard had blue.

Unfortunately that's going to depend on the ship. Royal had the same color carpets on both port and starboard. I'm not sure if this is going to be done on all ships as the carpets are changed or not. Personally, I liked the two color system.

  15. Under the Cruise Personalizer, Special Requests, go to the Dietary Special Requests. You should see "Distilled Water" as one of the options to check. If not, check "Other" and write your requests in the "Provide Information Here" box. We requested distilled water and an extension cord stating it was needed for the CPAP. We received an email back from Princess confirming this request. We did not go through our TA to handle this. Hope this helps.

1st Cruisers are spot on with their instructions. As they indicated, be sure to include the need is for a CPAP. I didn't once and received a reply back from Princess that they only supply when used in situations such as a CPAP. Putting the comment in up front just saves some back and forth emails.

  16. I'm currently booked in a standard balcony cabin on the Royal Princess in March. I have an opportunity to change my cabin to an MA category minisuite for an excellent price.

I know what to expect for the interior of the minisuite, but would like to see pics of the balconies and if possible, the views from them. I tried searching this site, but all I seemed to pull up were huge threads tnat would be extremely time consuming to weed through.

The cabins I am specifically looking at are on the port side, Baja 428, 426, 414, or 410. If anyone has any insight and/or pics they can share on these cabins (or something comparable) I would greatly appreciate it!

We had C410 on the Royal for the Maiden Transatlantic in Oct. The extended balcony was really nice.

  17. I made a payment with a debit card last Friday and was double charged. My bank account has been on hold all week and I haven't been able to use it. I was told on Monday that it would be taken care of on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. I understood that but then it was not taken care of on Tuesday. Called back yesterday and was told to wait 2 or 3 more days. My paycheck goes into my account tomorrow and it will also be on hold until this is all sorted out. I'm sure it will be taken care of at some point but it sure has put me in a bind. But, it will all be worth it when I'm finally cruising in Alaska :)

I recommend never use a debit card to pay for anything over the internet or for large purchases such as a cruise. While on the Royal recently, I received daily notices from my credit card company that Princess was getting authorizations on a nightly basis for any of that day's purchases (shops, excursions, bars, etc). These authorizations create a hold against the available funds on the account. Had I used a debit card tied to a checking account, it could/would have created a problem with any automatic payments I had set up to come out of the checking account. At the end of my Royal cruise, Princess then submitted an authorization for the total bill. Eventually the daily authorizations expired as Princess hadn't submitted an actual billing to the card, but in effect, they had reserved the amounts due them twice.

Additionally, if the merchant web site is ever hacked, your debit card information (and by default, your checking account) may be at risk.
