Will be sailing on NCL's Getaway in the Baltic, and am hoping I can completely turn off (not just adjust) the AC in my cabin (I will be in one of the solo studio cabins).
Does anyone who has recently been of the Getaway know if I can in fact turn the AC completely off (not adjust....I know I can do that).
Thanks,
Jim

Not all cruise ships use a card-based, cashless system for slot machines. Royal Caribbean ships still use money for their slot machines. Where a card is supported is merely for player tracking and accumulating points.
Nope, there's not a flaw in that. As you acknowledge, you've got about a 5% chance (0 and 00) of losing both your bets, and the house is willing to accept that as the house advantage.
If I figured this out right:
Chance Loss/Win 47.4% +$5 47.4% even 5.2% -$10
So, you're risking $10 to try to win $5 or break even.
Thanks so much for doing the math for me....that sounds like a "chance" I am willing to take

I am not much of a gambler, and do not like the idea of not being able to use cash in the slot machines, but having said that, this is my question:
My Travel Agent gave me a book of coupons which includes a match play described as a "$5 match play casino credit for blackjack or roulette table". My idea is to play the following on roulette: Put $5 on say black and $5 and the match play on red. If black comes out I get $10 my bet and the "winnings" (which is what I bet) and if red comes out I get (if I correctly understand how this works, my $5 back and then $10 more or $15, netting $5). Now I know I am out of luck if one of the zeros comes up (and if you were to see me at the roulette table betting zeroes would probably be a good bet), but is there a flaw in my "plan"?
Thanks,
Jim

I am a 58 year old single male, and I also tend to be rather shy (although ironically less shy while cruising).
It is amazing when I return home many friends and family will ask "Did you meet anyone while you were crusing?" and my answer is always "quite a few" as in all honesty I will talk with whoever I can.
I also agree with an earlier post that my major goal in crusing is to see areas of the world I have never seen before, so if I have an early port day, I tend to have a quiet evening as I will spend that next day quite busy.

Thank you for the responses....it is not the noise it is the temperature as I like it rather warm and on my last trip to the Baltics (on Princess) it was quite cool anyway.
