  1. Ship - Freedom

    Deck - 8

    Stateroom # - 8310

    Stateroom Category - Deluxe balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom ? - Yes very quiet, midship, not far from the elevators. We did not here our neighbors.

Is stateroom a connecting stateroom? Yes it was.

Balcony View - very nice view no obstruction. We had 2 reclining chairs, one chair and one round table. Very private.

    Wind was not a problem

No soot we were mid ship.

    No problem with the cabin.

Canin was spacious, clean. The shower head had a little problem was on massage and could not be controlled. We called maintenance and all was fix. Plenty of room for toiletries in the bathroom. Great service and very clean. I would book this cabin again.

  2. As we have seen recently, this may not be the case. All of the bus accidents and deaths I've seen in the past year are ship's tours.

We have never had a problem that a friendly "No Thank You" can't handle with Haitians in Labadee, but I don't typically buy trinkets I don't want or need just to help them out. I'd rather give my charity dollars to reputable organizations like Red Cross for relief efforts there.

The Red Cross did nothing for Haiti. They only build on house with all that money... huge scandal please research. Rather give by buying directly from the artisan at least you know where the money is going.

  3. This is a very common scenario - but I've only seen it in the market area in the hills. I speak Haitian Creole (I lived there for 18 months way back when), so I try to talk to as many workers as I can. The market sellers (mostly) all work for someone else who owns all of the trinkets, carvings, etc. They have to PAY Royal Caribbean a daily fee to rent the booth when ships are in town. They normally bring their own lunch from home (like you would on your job). But, if they can get a free lunch from someone - that's one less expense for them.

Believe me, Haitians are FAR worse off than you or I, but most of them, especially in the north, are relatively happy people who have a very humble existence, but are not as destitute as you might think. Sure, many don't have running water in their homes (many of them being simply 10x10 huts ), but they find a way to make it work.

We are used to unrest and protest every election. Usually when the President is elected and gets in power on the 7 of Feb it all calms down. The fact that we are talking about it proves that they did have their voices heard. Knowing the people of the North they would not of hurt the tourists... This is unfortunate for all the Haitian workers who did not get tips and a days pay of work.... Most of the workers are temps from what I heard ( no confirmation).

  4. Thanks! I can't wait to head there, so many people we work with have been! support Haitians 100%, it's sad to see the level of poverty in a country that is so close to home! Hopefully the protesting will settle down, they are desperately trying to market the island to tourists and this sort of activity is not helping their cause. However, if my family was starving and living in the same conditions that they are in I would probably do the same.

My feelings as well. Hope you have a nice stay. Keep us posted. And have an awesome time on your future cruise.

  5. Just wondering if they don't stop in Haiti do they pick another port to stop at or is it considered just a Sea Day? We were actually planning on going to Haiti with Project Medicare before booking this cruise but things there are getting worse and it's not exactly safe at the moment. Hopefully the tension eases.

Project Medishare is an awesome project. Yes closer to the elections the tension is rising and the streets have been chaotic, tires burning, truck being assaulted. But it is in some of the areas. Medishare people are loved by the population and are protected, they do a lot of good. Dr. Green who started Medishare is a great man. You will be safe. The hospital is very close to the airport.

  6. This is ridiculous. It is the time to talk to them and ask questions on life on board. And to get to know the people who makes your cruise and vacation a delite.... Some people really do have their noses up there and think that they are beneath them..... Hey! It might come as a surprise but they are people.

  7. Cruising August 2nd on the Glory.... First time Carnival.... What should i expect? Tips please... Happy that they would go back to old menu. All review that i read were more or less negative on the new menu we were getting worried since we are a family group of 10. Some of them already cruised with Carnival but none with the Glory. Thanks for the rumor. Feeling so much better. Are they going back with the live singers? Seen some complains about the loud boom boom DJ's.

Took the walking excursions as much as possible and also did 30 minutes of running before getting dress for dinner... And trust me i ate a lot.... So worth it... Also had other cruisers that i met at the gym and we motivated each other... Worth it... Now i keep the same routine on every cruise... And gain none on my last cruise... Have a wonderful cruise!
