  1. While being a veteran of almost 50 large ship cruises, bookings River cruise has become quite a challenge. We are looking at Viking River cruise from Paris next October. I have been trying to pour through the cancelation policy and all the legalese. Every cruise line I have dealt with lets you cancel for any reason before the final payment is made. Is this the case with Viking? The way I read their policy is you would be charged. $100.00 fee if cancelled before the final payment and then a graduated scale for cancellation s closer to the sailing date. Are there any other pitfalls I might need to know? Please help.

  2. This coming March my dear wife and I are taking our first cruise on Celebrity. My question is, what is the minimum value of the color chips on the roulette tables? Carnival and Princess it is $1.00, but on NCL it was $2.00.

  3. I know that it is pushing the envelope, but has anyone booked a return flight from Ft. Lauderdale as early as 9:58am? The last few times we could have made it, getting to the airport around 8:30am, and that was not rushing. We will be coming in on the Caribbean Princess and we can do self assist debarkation. Any experiences with this would be appreciated.

  4. There is no doubt that there are good and bad things about all cruise lines. But to bash any particular line by hearsay alone is very narrow minded. We are Elite on Princess and Platinum on Carnival. Having said that, it's the main reason why we don't branch out and try other cruises. Although we did try an NCL cruise last year. I think we will stay with Carnival and Princess for awhile, both good product for good prices.

  5. Just came off our first NCL cruise on the Breakaway after 31 cruises between Princess and Carnival. While the ship was nice, there were so many other negatives about NCL. The food was substandard in 3 out of the 4 pay dining venues we tried and down right lousy in the "complimentary" venues. Forget about the buffets, same lukewarm dry food every day. We wanted to give another line a try, but we regretted trying NCL. Never again.
