  1. Last June we arrived in Vancouver late at night. Showed are passport only to customs. Only question I remember them asking is why are you here and what are your plans. Mentioned going on a cruise and told them when we leaving and that was it. Took a cab for around 40 dollars to Pan Pacific hotel. Highly highly recommend this hotel. As others have said it is same area that you board the cruise ship. Mentioned at check in that we going on the radiance in 2 days, and they told us to call down before checkout and they would pick up our bags and take them directly to the cruise ship.

If you have the time checkout Grouse Mountain and Capilano suspension bridge. We loved both!!!

  2. One tip I learned is become a member in the rental company's loyalty program. On our trip we mainly used Thrifty rental and we were allowed to enter the "blue chip" loyalty line which was always much shorter than the other line. We were in and out and on the road, while those in the other line were still in the other line!!

And yes, the discount Hawaii car rental site was cheaper in every port than the agency site!!!

  3. Our fridge didn't work which was an issue since I use insulin. Our stateroom guy was awesome and made sure to bring ice for the ice bucket twice daily to keep my insulin cold. We didn't care for the activities offered on board and we had issues with the whole my time dinning thing, but other than that things were good.

We complained and found out that it's a "chiller not a refrigerator." Items were always room temperature at best!!

  4. We were on this same cruise!! Weather was fantastic!! Looking forward to your reading more of your review!!! Ship was beautiful but showing her age. Staff we encountered were awesome!! Slight issues in our room but not enough to ruin our trip!!!

  5. Going through discount Hawaii rentals was cheaper than going directly through each rental agency. The airport is about a 5-10 min ride to the pier. Your rental car agency will have a shuttle to take you to their location and back. Before you leave home, print your reservation for each island and write the local rental agency ph number on it. If the shuttle is not at the pier when you are ready to leave, call them and let them know to come pick you up.

One hint that I found here on cruise critic that helped us: sign up for Thrifty blue chip program or other rental program, It allows you to bypass the regular line and get your car much faster. So convenient!!!

Parking overnight wasn't a problem for us. There was 2 parking lots, one was much closer to the ship than the other but still within walking distance. I think you can still park in the shopping mall nearby, but you have to move the car before 8 am. If you plan on getting back around 6p you should be fine in one of the 2 parking areas.

  6. Just off the POA last week. The crew was great, always something to do on the ship, and the shows were really good! Rented a car at every port, so can't advise on the excursions. Yes, the cruise seems expensive at first, but I would not have seen the islands I did if I had to fly to each island, then get a hotel etc. also, Kauai would not have been a priority if I had to fly to each island however, that was my favorite island!! Would do same cruise again tomorrow if I could!!!

  7. I just got off the POA Saturday, and I would stick with deck 9. My DH, and I were in rm 10122, which I think is a BA. The room was great, but we could hear noise above us in early morning hours. Above us was the aloha buffet and it seemed what we were hearing were carts being moved around. It wasn't loud, but we definitely could hear it. Deck 9 is sandwiched between guest rooms, so should be quieter.

Overall, had a great trip and seeing the islands is the highlight of it all!!!
