  1. Looking forward to reading your review. We sail in this same suite in October 2019 so I am very excited to see pictures and watch on You Tube.

I am also the OCD planner of the family - hence I snagged one of the bigger rooms for the hubby and I. The rest of the family can fight over the other 3 rooms. :)

Do you mind taking pictures of the cruise compass? We are cruising this same cruise (but not this room) 2 weeks after you (Oct 7). I would be appreciative!

  2. We were on the same cruise.

While we did have a couple of service issues (room service one night and lack of cups with our drink package the first day), overall we thought the cruise was great. Any issues we had were immediately taken care of once we politely informed the crew.

We had children with us as well. My kids loved the slide, however they are younger than the group you were with. I did have to go with them on the slide because they were too small to go by themselves. (My oldest is tall for her age - 6) I actually enjoyed the slide and figured out how to go fast on it.

I would recommend next time you travel with kids to bring some back up entertainment options. While we enjoy taking our kids on cruises, it is nice to know that we will probably have some adult time while they are in the kid's club. However, we cannot always guarantee that our kids will enjoy the club that week. Unfortunately, that is just a fact of life with kids. As a parent, it is my responsibility to take care of my kids. As such, I always travel with ipads, portable DVD players & DVDs, and coloring books. I also brought reading books for the oldest.

I think the other posters hit the nail on the head - this was not the right ship for your group. It sounds like you all would have had a better time on either the Freedom or Oasis classes. I do hope your next vacation is better.

  3. My children have been in the Aquanuts on our past two cruises. They love it. On port days, they are usually open the entire time the ship is in port. On sea days, the kids club closes from noon to 2 and then from 5 to 6:45. It opens up at 9am. You can keep the kids in the club after 10, but it costs an hourly rate from 10p-2a.

They do have some nights when they do Adventure dinner. This is when the kids club staff take the kids to Windjammer for dinner. You have to sign up by 5p that day. The dinner is at 5:30. You can find out which days by looking at the kids club schedule that is left in the room the night before.

On the ships we were on, the kids club staff would come down to the main dining room at 6:30 to pick up any kids that want to go to the evening session. I found this nice as my kids do well in the main dining room, but not for as long as dinner usually takes. The waiters are great at bringing the food out fast for the kids.

The activities were mainly arts and crafts, games, toys, and stories. They had a superhero night where they made capes, a pirate night with a parade, and a pj party on the last night. They also had face painting every night.

Merion mom is right (as always) that there is a great forum for families. You might even be able to find some examples of the kids club compass (the daily schedule). I will also be happy to answer any questions you might have about cruising with young children.
