  1. My husband and I have reservations to the steakhouse the 1st night of our cruise on the Vista I February, and we're told by a friend that we would receive a free bottle of wine in the steakhouse that night. Is this true, and if it is, do they give you a choice of wines?

  2. Our family will be visiting Grand Turk in February while aboard the Vista and this will be the first time we've ventured past Margaritaville. We would like to give Jack's Shack a try and are hoping that they have lounger and umbrella rentals we can rent for the day, can someone please confirm and what the normal charges are. Comments regarding the quality of food and the drink prices would be helpful as well.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I'm with you, my husband and I sailed on Vista last February and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and rebooked her again for this coming February. I've read many reviews about the wait time at the Lido buffet; however, we never waited more than 10 mins, if that, and that wait was typically during breakfast, and we never had an issue finding a place to sit and eat. Our cruise was a full sailing and there were a lot of people, but we never felt crowded, with all the different activities around the ship, cruisers were well disbursed throughout. The staff was always very friendly, or room steward was one of the best we've had and we enjoyed the food at all of the venues. You can't please everyone and there are some really impatient people who look for the slightest issues to complain about. Granted I've only sailed on the Vista once and I know sailings can vary, but I highly recommend this ship, if you've booked her and are rethinking it based on some of these negative reviews, don't, give the Vista a shot, and if your open-minded, like the larger ships and don't mind a bit of a wait, occasionally, you won't be disappointed.

Very surprised at the amount of negative Vista feedback. Seems alot came from the 11/4 cruise.... We cruised her last year and had a wonderful cruise and found very little to find a complaint with ?! We enjoyed her so much we are booked again next week on the Vista! Granted my 1st cruise and this cruise ...we are in Havana cabins... which definitely eliminate the "crowding" issues. However I have always come across "crowding" issues, especially on sea days on my other dozen or so Carnival cruises on other class ships. As far as food....I take bad feedback with a grain of salt....as I would say "to each their own". I've never gone hungry..... I'll be interested in comparing my last cruise experience, on the Vista, in the Lido buffet to this cruise as it seems past cruisers have been unhappy with the food.

I plan on roaming the ship and make more detailed observations during our cruise. My wife can sun bathe and read a book all day....I can't sit still more than 10' (lol) ..So I will be up and about observing and checking things out throughout the cruise.

I'll report back with my impressions when I return

  4. Hi all! My sister is flying into Miami for our "family" cruise in February and she's looking for a hotel to stay at the night before. Can anyone recommend a good/safe hotel that offers shuttle service from the airport and then to the cruise terminal the next morning? Thanks

  5. My husband and I were on the Vista this past February and we loved it, so much so, that we have booked for next February. Many people have complained about the buffet lines, but we never encountered any issues and the buffet selections in the mornings were wonderful. I will say that out of all the ships we've been on, the decor was a little blander, but we thought the decor on the lido deck was very nice, we enjoyed sitting and eating on the high-tops looking out over the water. Our mainstay was up in the Serenity area, we were there from 7AM until 4PM every day we were at sea and having a salad bar up there was an added bonus! I hope you enjoy your cruise on the Vista as much as we did!

  6. just off the vista i will try to answer any questions. i stayed in a Havana interior room number 5214. ate at the steakhouse, ji ji asian kitchen, bonsai sushi, and cucina italian. also did the thrill theater which was great. we did the 6 day Jamaica, grand Cayman, Cozumel itinerary.

I saw a photo someone had taken on the Vista some time ago, it was a be beachy background. Do you know when this setting was available, perhaps the first day? And if so, where can we find it? My husband and I did a casual background very similar to that about 12 years ago, I'd love a current one.

    Thanks

  7. I know there have been 100's of questions regarding the dress code in the MDR, but I haven't seen any recently that addressed the dress attire the first night of the cruise. My husband and I typically make reservations in the steak house the first night but thought we'd change things up a bit. Are people more casual the first night given sail away isn't long before that? I enjoy dressing up nicely, but don't want to stick out like a sore thumb.

    Thanks

  8. Question: I've read that the sign & sail cards are put into our mailbox in a sealed envelope on the Vista, they no longer provide them at check-in. We board at 11AM, will we be able to access our card when we board the ship, I know there are many others like us who like to start our cruise with a celebratory drink when they get on.
