  1. Great Overnight Shore Excursion from Safaga Port

We've just finished a 2 day, overnight tour in Luxor with Ramses Tours. Waleed met us at the cruise terminal with a big smile on his face. The van was clean and off we go to the journey. Waleed is a ultimate professional, he is friendly and knowledgable about his trade.

He is a well of information and very personable. On our way to Luxor at a rest stop, we wanted to take a picture of a local lady but we didnot have any local currency. Waleed just jumped in without me asking and helped me to pay to the lady.

Throughout the entire day we were taken care of like a royality. But pay attention because he will quiz you about what he has talked about all the facts and history (Haha, kidding).

I highly recommend both Ramses and Waleed, and I’ll use them both on a fourth trip.

  2. We are trying to decide where to stay for our overnight. Would it be better to stay at the Oberoi Mena House or to stay at Fairmont Nile City Hotel in Cairo

We have used this company on previous tours. They were terrific. We are scheduled with them to go to Cairo on Day 1 in Egypt, spend the night in Cairo and return to the ship in Alexandria. We are doing this with two other couples under the surname of Lewis. Given our last experience we are excited! Arlene
  3. Thanks.... Excellent trip report!

My family of 5 just returned from a cruise that stopped at Safaga.

Safaga Port is nearly 300 Km from Luxor. Our bus ride from the port to Luxor was 4 hours, with 1 not 2 stops on the way to Luxor. Our outstanding tour guide, Adham Farouk, used the time to provide our group with a wide range of information concerning life in Egypt as well as information concerning the sites that we would visit in Luxor and the surrounding area. His knowledge of each of the sites that we visited greatly enhanced our enjoyment of this tour.

Karnak Temple is an amazing site, as are the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens. We had ample time to visit each of these sites. For those interested in photography, Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Queens provide excellent opportunities to be creative with their cameras. Unfortunately, cameras are not permitted in the Valley of the Kings due to the potential damage to the extremely old pigments in the tombs.

Driving from the east bank of the Nile River where the Karnak Temple is located to the west bank of the river where the valleys of the Kings and Queens are located reqires approximately 1 hour of travel on the roads. Our group crossed the river on a small boat and had lunch while our driver brought the bus to the oposite of the river. This is just a small example of how Ramses Tours maximizes the limited time available for a one day vist to Luxor from Safaga port.

The Egyptian relics in the Luxor area are well worth visiting and I highly recommend using the services of Ramses Tours AKA Ramasside Tours to maximize your visit to this area.

  4. I booked a cruise which is meant to be stopping in Egypt.

    Departure Date: January 10, 2015

The Trip: Cunard's Queen Elizabeth is embarking on a 112-night world cruise, roundtrip from Southampton, but passengers can opt for variations, including departures from New York, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles and other ex-North America homeports for slightly shorter or longer voyages. Journey highlights include visits to American Samoa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China and Egypt, returning May 2.

  5. In 2011 I organized a trip to Cairo to Port Said with them, We hope to be on true World Cruise of Holland America and will be in Safaga from early morning until midnight on April 2nd. What tours do you recommend from the port to see the Valley of the Kings?

  6. We did an excursion in November 2013. There is not a lot to see and do in the Port area.

going to tunis in march with ncl is there anything to do around port area or is it safer to take a tour with ship.
