  1. My first cruise (and first vacation) ever, and I'm extremely excited! I'll be on Oasis on June 14 for 7 nights. I'm interested in shopping on the ship, can someone tell me if the prices (and selections) are good? If I buy something on the ship and find out later the price was inflated I'd be pretty upset. I don't know what to expect, so any advise would be great! Is it better to shop at the ports?

    Thanks!

  2. Hello~

I've booked my first ever vacation over a year ago, but it's finally creeping nearer and I'm not nearly as decisive as I thought I'd be at this point!

My upcoming cruise on Oasis is June 14, 2014 from Ft. Lauderdale. We'll be stopping by:

    1. Nassau, Bahamas

    2. Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

    3. Philipsburgh, St. Maarten

I'm extremely excited, and I've been looking at the excursions available on the pre-cruise planner. So many options! I'd love to hear opinions, especially based off of experience.

I am especially interested in Atlantis Ultimate Tour Without Lunch - NS90 which takes place in Nassau, but it's $299 so I'm not entirely sure it would be worth it (it includes a deep water dolphin swim and access to the water park.) I'm not exactly rolling in the dough (college student!) but I'm willing to splurge on something since it's not like I get chances like this everyday.

My understanding is that the excursions book up fast, so I'm worried if I don't decide soon I'll be SOL.

Oh, and since it probably matters on some excursions... I AM old enough to drink! :)

  3. I wouldn't be overly concerned, but I generally pack a small travel size bug repellant and keep it in my beach bag....just in case. I did use it in St. Maarten last vacation. The only place I routinely see jelly fish are on Coco Cay, but I have never been stung. It is unlikely and if, by chance, you do get stung, the medical staff will have cream to use. Fortunately, you don't have to worry about moose and bears on the islands ;)

You might want to make sure to have a lot of sunscreen though! Enjoy your first Caribbean Cruise! Oasis class is fantastic!

Bug repellent it is! And don't worry, I'm looking for the strongest sunscreen I can possibly find since I'm well aware that the sun actually exists outside of Alaska. :P

Thanks for your answer! I'm so glad that it doesn't seem to be a huge issue. :)

  4. I'm going to be going on my first cruise ever on the Oasis in June. I am not entirely sure what to expect, but I've been trying to be really prepared.

What should I expect in terms of 'creatures that like to bite/sting'? Should I be bringing lots and lots of repellant type products? If so, I'd love some recommendations! I am from Alaska so I don't really know much about this kind of thing.

    Thank you!
