You don't mention the time of year you will be doing the TA.  We did ours, Athens to Ft. Lauderdale, in November.  We loved having the port side (south facing) balcony because we could bask in the sun, even though the weather could be cool.

I am happy to hear this. We are booked on the port side for October 2019 on Nieuw Statendam. This will be our first TA and first time on this ship. Looking forward to relaxing days onboard.

  2. What is it that you like about a Lanai cabin ?

Considering this ship for a 2020 14 night Eastern Med cruise .We know that the Linai doors open to the promenade .My question is more focused about sitting in the chairs outside & or the convenience to have a easier view of the ocean .Is that why you like a Lanai cabin ?

I am trying a Lanai for the first time. We always have been in balcony on prior cruises. Price difference on this ship made me choose a Lanai for fresh air access. Need to remember to be dressed before I open that door on this trip :p

  3. I have cabin 3368 booked. I just realized that it is under the very front of the galley area (even tho the HAL rep said it was not). I cannot find comments about noise for this specific cabin. Has anyone been in this cabin who could inform me? TIA :)

  4. Wow, I had the worst scrambled "eggs" ever on the Royal a couple of weeks ago. They were so bad, that I wouldn't even try them again. I stuck to omelettes or ate in the MDR. Maybe I got an "off" batch.

I had horrible scrambled eggs on the June 6 cruise too. Switched to omelettes also.

  5. Good news everyone, I convinced him to fly in the day before and my parents as well. We will fly in Friday May 24, take the private tour with pickup at heathrow to Stonehenge, with a drop off at a port hotel. We even just booked the Holiday Inn Southampton which is only .75 miles away. It is perfect. Thank you all for your suggestions.

That's great. Much less stress all the way around. Enjoy your cruise:D

  6. I just flew from London to PHL and connected to ATL on Monday. I had 2 hrs 45 mins between flights. Landed at 3:30pm and it took over an hour to get thru immigration. Suitcase was waiting at carousel and right thru Customs to recheck bag. Another terrible line to clear security. Then had to get to B terminal for next flight. I made it to gate at 5:30 for my 6:11 flight. My advice is do not waste any time, you will need it.

  7. I will never fly the day of cruise. We had an 8:30 pm flight from PHL to LHR on June 3. Ultimately delayed for 4 hours, but took off at 12:30 AM. We arrived at LHR, an hour thru immigration and ride to hotel in London took us to 2:00 pm. We could not have made the ship in Southampton, if it were leaving that day. This was the first time I have had flight problems, but enough to convince me not to fly international the day of a cruise. I was terribly stressed out as it was, but at least I was not worried about missing the ship!!

  8. I looked online a few weeks ago, but did not purchase tickets for June 4, there was a lot of available. These are timed tickets apparently. Today there are NO tickets for any dates past this week. Even months ahead. Is this possible or could it be some glitch? I can buy tickets thru Viator for more $$ for my date, but would rather not.;)
