  1. the options are numerous as caves branch river runs thru the 6 caves system and can be explored using tubes or kayaks, and there are other river branches that feed into the river and one such branches comes from the Crystal Cave that is explored by tubing and walking in the caves.

we explored these caves with vivtours.com

  2. Hi, We'd like to try cave tubing in Belize, but most excursions seem to include a significant walk through the jungle. My SIL is on the tail end of recovering from foot surgery and will likely still be in a walking boot. She has no open wounds and is cleared for all normal activities, but would have a tough time walking for 20 minutes in rough terrain. One review I saw said their hike to the tubing site was 45 minutes!

So, can anyone tell me how long the walk/hike was up to your tubing site, and let me know which company you went with. Any suggestions for a tour agency with minimal walking would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

yes it is possible, this company has had guest in similar situations and did the cavetubing. email narcisoat vivtours.com for more information.

  4. i have been to Belize several times, and highly recommend doing a excursion at this port, whether to the rain forest, the caves, the maya ruins, the little islands of Goffs Caye, Caye Caulker, its all so natural and beautiful, it so worth it, but staying on the dock and having a beer thats nice, could be done anywhere in the world..........

  5. we did the cave tour with vivtours.com and their tubes have a mesh seat bottom, head rest and there staff carry the tubes to the cave entrance, all the tubes also have all around tow rope and quick release clips to link the tubes together and the guides do the power work and navigation, its awesome,

  6. One of the best maya sites to visit in the maya world is Lamanai, this tour is a 5 hour tour, you get to spend 2 hours at the site, viewing the temples, mask of the sun god, the carvings on the stelas and the articles displayed on the onsite musuem, climbing the temples are optional, and the views are fantastic.

the guides at vivtours.com are exceptional and highly recommended.

  7. cavetubing only is family oriented and easy to do, floating through the caves, led by a guide, while seeing the crystal cave involves some floating, but much of it is also walking inside the caves, the views are awesome, the walking is on uneven wet rocky paths and requires good footing and lighting, the sensitivity of protecting the crystals, by not touching and maintaining foot balance is why i recommend adults only for this trip.

  8. Thinking of booking this tour.

Do they carry your tubes for you? We went several years ago and had to hike and carry. Not fun.

Also, do they have back rests?

    And do they tie together.

    Any help would be great!

  9. It is nice to see that other companies have adapted the narciso style of cave-tubing, that is narciso at vivtours.com designed and implemented the style of tubes and safety method that is now used today. He noticed that for years guest were uncomfortable using the hand to foot method where guest were holding each others feet to float downstream while sitting on a truck tire, the new system is certainly more hygienic and safe. He also instituted the all around tow rope with carbines quick release clips for easy attachment and easy towing. For the past 2 years he also implemented the "Hands Free" system where his courtesy staff takes the luxury 53" diameter tube to the cave entrance, so guest can walk hands free and enjoy the tour.

  10. so doing a cruise to here as this port later in October to belize

i was looking at the trips to Maya Ruins

i understand there is a tender from ship

how long of a day trip this be

how long of a bus ride from port area is it to the ruins and return. i assume this is like a full day when u factor in the tender to and from boat

how many hours should factor in

also suggestions of good local outfitter to us vs cruise line

i have been on the Xunantunich- Cahal Pech tour through a local independent provider, V.i.V. the tour lasted 6 hours, 2 hour driving going, 1 hour at each site and 2 hours return, the tour company offers this tour as a Private Executive Tour for a small group, 1 to 12 max. this ensures a quicker pace tour as compared to the 6 buses of guest on the cruise line tour which requires 7-8 hours to manage this volume.

  11. been there several times, we did the cave-zip tour with vivtours.com, the tendering was ok and returned on time to get the tender back to the ship, these independent operators are aware of the cruise time and operate well within the given time. Go Independent.

  12. Yes, i have been there, and its was worth it, awesome, i cant recall the guide name, his nickname is "booths", we got lots of photos, we even had time to stop and shop at a "Orange" gift shop, now here i am happy we spent 20 minutes, the place has so much beautiful mahagony carvings, bowls, slate carvings, and jewelry, that my cc would explode.
