If it's an overnight stop I'd recommend Disneyland, but you'd need to buy tickets in advance and make a reservation. Else maybe the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.

My parents are staying in Maalaea right now and said they watched one tender come ashore and then return, and now the ship is moving again. Perhaps an on board medical emergency/evac?
I’m a passenger on the PofA now, and yes it was a medical emergency for one passenger. I’m unaware of any details other than they had to be evac’d.

As land lover said, something seemed off and we were disappointed with this cruise, our second on RCI. We also talked to several RC vets who said the first day or two were below par. Actually that and this thread is reassuring since our Radiance cruise 10 years ago was great and we thought the cruise line might have gone downhill. Sounds like this cruise was an outlier.

I'll recommend the Buena Vista Cafe, adjacent to the cable car turntable at the corner of Hyde and Beach in the Fisherman's Wharf area. They are famous for their Irish Coffee, a must for our trips to SF.

I know it's just a half mile walk but this is for my parents and their luggage. Does the Amtrak Red Cap have a shuttle since it's so close, or will they need to do a taxi?
