Never sailed with Ponant before and am considering a Scandinavian cruise next year. One of the port calls is where my sister lives (and where I grew up). I'm not interested in any excursions - for obvious reasons, but would my sister be allowed to spend the day on board with me? I have no idea what their policy might be. TIA

Thank you for replying so quickly and this is exactly the information I was looking for. I will be on a river boat, so maybe slightly less cramped. But I'm pleased to see you didn't mention having to get all dolled up for dinner (or would you say 'gussied'?) I'm not, and never have been a girly girl and am happiest in trousers and shirts, so it will be linen pants and tops, with possibly the odd linen shift dress thrown in. Might pack my pearls though! I'm used to June/July temperatures in France as we used to have a house there, so I know I will need sensible footwear for excursions and sightseeing. Thanks again K

Yes, I also have a wide variety of adaptors after years of international travel from New Zealand. I just didn't particularly want to have to pack a selection 'just in case', which was why I asked.😃 I was hoping to get a definitive answer from Aussies or Kiwis who had sailed from Australia.

Hoping for a definitive answer. I've trawled through lots of postings, but still can't find what I'm looking for. Cruising out of Sydney and would like to know if the power points are AUS/NZ ones, or do I need to bring adaptors? Also, will I be permitted to bring my GHD straighteners aboard? TIA

Crew gratuities???? Have I got this totally wrong, but I understood that on Australian-based cruises, crew gratuities were factored into the price of the cruise, and no further gratuities were payable?

Would a bank debit card or EFTPOS be acceptable? This will be a Princess cruise out of Australia with all onboard charges in AUD. I've never cruised before, so all of this is quite daunting!

Which brands of tea do they serve? I can't stand flavoured teas and always drink 'gumboot' tea aka very strong English breakfast tea. And is the tea made with boiling water???

I probably won't have luggage as I'm planning on doing this trip with only cabin baggage. Will that make a difference? Presumably if I don't have luggage to contend with, I could just wait until the last passengers were scheduled to disembark??
