    Hi all,

Has anyone recently been to Myrtos beach?  It looks beautiful but I am concerned about doing an excursion to a beach if there are not any umbrellas for rent.   Antisamos beach also looks nice.  Has anyone been there?

    Thank you!

Who are you booking the excursion with?   I keep looking at Myrtis Beach but no sure how to get there. Royal Caribbean is not offering an excursion to this beach.

  2. My husband and I each purchased a next cruise with our own name. We just changed the cruise to the Panama Canal. My sister in law and brother in law are going with us. When I called Royal to change the cruise, the vacation planner suggested keeping my husband and I in separate rooms so we can each get the $350 balcony discount. The planner told me once on board I could go to guest services to have my husband switched to my room. Has anyone heard this? Has anyone done this?

  3. As you can see Gary ,Cruise wizard, e.mailed me.

This is definitely one of those small world stories.

I have cruised with Gary before on an Adventure TA , we did not really visit with each other but I know friends of ours had a great time at his Trash game.

It appears not only are we to cruise together on the Harmony in October but so are Lloyd and Lana, who are not on CC . WOW, what are the odds?

To all those who gave positive ideas and responses , thank you.

I am a firm believer in paying forward , life is too short to snipe.

Glad you were able to track down Lloyd and Lana. Hope to meet everyone on the Harmony TA.

  4. I did research before we left on Allure in January 2014. I found Red Stripe Beach was the closest beach. I did see Royal Caribbean offered it as an excursion but there was six of us so we decided we would try to take a taxi there. Once off the ship, we asked at the taxi stand and was told no taxis were allowed to go to Red Stripe Beach since it was owned by the cruise lines.

We were able to buy tickets at the bus (excursion) for $5 cheaper than what Royal Caribbean was charging. It was a newer beach when we went. We enjoyed our time there.

  5. We just used Royston's while on the Quantum of the Seas during the last week of January 2015.

Here is my review that I just posted to Trip Advisor.

We booked a private tour for 11 with Royston’s Tours. Our driver was Ashton, Royston’s cousin. We remained on ship time for the entire cruise. Royston and Ashton set up the tour time for island time but they were waiting for us when we got off the ship. Ashton has a nice large van with air conditioning. Our first stop was at the Romney Manor and the Caribelle Batik. Then we went to the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park (there is a $10 fee). Ashton paid for all of us to enter the fort. We then stopped to see the Black Rocks formed by the lava. While we were driving from place to place, Ashton gave us the history of the island and showed us some amazing sights. While we were close to the rainforest, we did experience some liquid sunshine. Ashton stopped at a stand to pick up our lunch. He drove us to an area with a picnic bench on the beach to enjoy the BBQ chicken, garlic bread and some type of donut. The food was delicious. After lunch, he drove us to South Friars Beach. The beach had restrooms and changing rooms. We stayed at the beach for 1.5 hours. Ashton came back to get us and returned us to the ship. We paid for the excursion at the end. It was $45 and that included the fee to the fort, lunch, and drinks for the entire day (water, beer, and soda (the famous Tinq and other flavors). Such a great value for a wonderful day in paradise.

  6. I just posted my review on Trip Advisor for Bernard's Tours. We used them while on Quantum of the Seas during the last week of January 2015.

We have been to St Maarten a few times before. I always said if I returned to St. Maarten I wanted to do a tour with Bernard’s. We booked a private tour for 11 prior to the cruise. We had the option to create our own tour. We met Bernard at the end of the pier and paid him $50 prior to the tour. Since we wanted to go to the beach later in the day, we opted to skip Orient Beach and try another beach later in the day. Our driver was DJ Dave. Dave introduced us to some homemade Rum Punch which was available during the day along with water, beer and soda. Our first stop was with Calvin and his living sea creatures. We enjoyed about 10 to 15 minutes here. Calvin introduced us to some sea creatures and let us hold them (optional tip box). Our second stop was on the side of the road to see some iguanas. Bernard’s no longer stops at the Iguana Farm since it moved and now charges admission. The next stop was at Butterfly Farm. A few in my group wanted to see the farm. There is a nice seating area outside the farm where some of us waited while the others went inside. There was a $13 charge to go inside which the people said it was worth the price of admission. They have guided tours that take about 15 to 20 minutes. The butterfly farm is outside in a screened area so it was very hot and humid. We then drove to Marigot, St Martin. We stopped at Sarafina’s for some French pastries (delicious éclairs including one filled with coffee cream and macarons). We then walked around the open air flea market for a bit. We only spent 45 minutes in Marigot since we wanted to get to the Maho Beach and then a beach for swimming. DJ Dave reminded us it was our tour and we could spend as much time as we wanted at each stop. We continued driving around the island enjoying DJ Dave’s history of the island along with the beautiful views along the way. We arrived at Maho Beach at 1:00pm. It was extremely crowded. We were able to see a couple of small planes and one large plane arrive at 1:15PM. The majority of us walked back to the van while two decided to stay on the beach to see the next plane come in. The next plane was a large plane that came in around 1:25pm. So glad I got to experience Maho Beach. I now can cross it off my bucket list. I wanted to go to Mullet Bay to swim but I found out that they did not offer changing facilities (only a port-a-pot). DJ Dave suggested Little Divi Bay beach when I asked for a beach stop later in the day. The downside of this location was only 1 bathroom to use to get changed. There may have been more restrooms but we did not see them. We spent 1.5 hours at the beach. DJ Dave dropped a few of us off on Front Street for some shopping and he dropped the rest off at the ship. We walked around Front St stopping at Guavaberry Emporium for a Guavaberry Colada and of course we needed to stop at the Hard Rock Café on the Boardwalk. After we shopped, we walked back to the ship. It was about a 15 minute walk back to the pier.

  7. Wanted to go to Mullet Bay when we were in St Maarten during the last week of January. We used Bernard's Tours and when I asked our driver about changing facilities at Mullet Bay he told us there were none. Only porta-potties.

We went to Little Divi Bay and enjoyed our beach time there.

  8. Visited St. Kitts during the last week of January while on Quantum. Booked a private tour for 11 with Royston. Since we had a large group, we went with his cousin, Ashton. We had a great time. Ashton was very knowledgeable and friendly. We went to Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill Fort, Black Rocks and South Friars Beach.

Ashton picked us up a delicious BBQ chicken lunch and took us to a picnic table on a beach. The highlight of the tour.

I was nervous booking a private tour but everyone in my group is still thanking for a wonderful tour at a great price.

  9. Just came across this thread. We enjoyed an AFT cabin on Explorer of the Seas with lounge chairs. We decided to book an AFT cabin for the Westbound TransAtlantic cruise on Liberty in Oct 2011. When we arrived, there were no lounge chairs. We asked the room attendent and we were told due to company policy no lounge chairs allowed on the AFT balcony (except suites).

During the cruise, we were invited to a luncheon with officers. We ate with an officer from the hotel department. Well, after he asked the table a few times how the cruise was going.....I mentioned the fact we did not have lounge chairs on our cruise. He stated he was a corporate decision no more lounge chairs on balconies.

Since my friend booked an AFT room based on my recommendations, I told her when I got home that my balcony did not have any lounge chairs. She went on the Freedom (Jan 2012) and she did have lounge chairs.

Sounds like it was just the Liberty.....
