  1. -Santorini

This island is the gem of any E. Med cruise. Make the most of it, by taking a ship's excursion. We did the tour that included a winery. We saw most of the island. Others in our group DTY Santorini and never got out of FIRA. They wasted a lot of time getting up the hill, then transport was hard to find.

My only issue is that yes you get off the boat quicker in a way - but what if we want to spend more time in Oia, have lunch there rather than being forced back to Fira if it's only a 3 hour cruise.. can we leave the tour or is there some alternatives?

  2. You hit a nerve with this. This is an oft discussed topic on these boards. Please don't cheat and jeporadize this package for others.

And you better put your asbestos suit on cuz you're gonna be flamed. Get ready!

Wow it was a joke. On the other thread when someone made that joke everyone laughed. Here, apparently everyone lost their humor on ships.

  3. Equinox ship, docks are:

    -Dubrovnik

    -Corfu

    -Katakolon

    -Santorini

    -Kusadasi (Ephesus)

-Istanbul (final port, no need tour).

So of those ports above, which ones would you recommend def taking a tour on, and which ones do you recommend going our own way? We are a family of 6, with 4 adults and 2 kids (12 and 15). So based on that, I myself am not too much into history, a little is nice where needed but like santorni i just want to see the pretty sights, take amazing pics and enjoy good food. Other ones I'm not sure.

So please do let me know :)

  4. Hi all,

Got a family of 6, 4 adults, and 2 kids (12 and 15). We want to do a tour when we land in Dubrovnik, i believe timings are 12pm to 8pm.

The cable car option looks nice, but we don't want to tour to be too overbearing either. Is it worth it to do a tour in Dubrovnik? I'm a fairly big Game of Thrones fan as well (only me, no one else) so I want to kind of experience the shooting sites (and ideas here)?

Let me know if any thoughts. As for pricing, not too expensive either.. 6 people = a lot of money if we keep taking expensive tours.

  5. IMHO a drink pkg is well worth it, and the price is the same either way.

If the pricing is the same either way - what's the difference of buying on board or not. There are 4 of us, so I reckon we'll do 2 alcoholic packages and 2 non, then just mix and share whenever no one looks lol.

  6. Not sure if you are planning on spending on any specialty restaurants but if you are Tuscan grill is a nice place to be when you leave Venice

Depending on what time you sail away of course

This was early afternoon and a window seat view was lovely :)

Wow that looks nice! But I plan on being on the deck taking photos - would never get that height advantage of Venice unless you're on the Cruise. Does the ship go through the MAIN canal, or just go past it?

Also.. are ANY drinks included when you board the ship, or is it worth it to buy the drink packages online? I'm worried it might be more expensive on the ship - and thus it's easier ot buy straight up.

  7. Hi Guys,

First time cruising on any of the big liners in Europe (I've done Star Cruises once on Asia).

I'm always a big fan of finding out cool hidden secrets that you may not know unless you've experienced it before, or someone has told you etc. I'm talking things like, best place to grab a picture of the ship, best side to stand when docking for pics, where to get free wifi, best deals on ship, which food to take and not to take, cool things on this ship etc.

Anyone want to share? FYI, I'm taking the 7 night Venice to Turkey cruise on Equinox. What's cool about Equinox - what do you know that no one else does (or very few people). Share away!
