  1. Hi

Currently on Navigator and was on Anthem last year. Navigator, sadly, does not currently have "real" Voom. I have 2 device Surf and Stream package and getting around 2mb up and down - but very jumpy and ping of over 700ms. Its usable and can email, Facebook and basic surfing and even managed to stream a little video. It's good enough for what i want and so not going to ask for money back but its not the Voom i had on Anthem last year which was a LOT faster! Bad on RCL for trying to market it as the same thing.

    Will upload some speedtest.bet later.

  2. Hi

I see you can buy up to 5 devices for internet. Wondering how many i really need to buy :)

For the techies among you.... I was wondering if anyone knows how they check for number of devices? Is it a login, and as long as no more than X people logged at any one time you can use multiple devices or is it done on MAC address (network card address) and once you login that device is used up?

    Thanks

  3. Hi

We are going on the Navigator of the seas on the 10th July, and had a couple of questions. We are a party of 5, we are in our late 30’s + parents in law in their 60’s.

    1. Is it worth buying the 5-night specialty restaurant dinner deal now? and do we need to book the restaurants now or can we just wait until we are onboard? I would prefer to wait, but then don’t know hard to then get a table once onboard? Went on a 3 night cruise last year and was busy, but on a 14 night assumed it would be a bit more relaxed due to time everyone has to eat at the various places?

    2. Excursions are my biggest unknown at the moment. Do we book on board and see whats left, book via RCCL or via one of the web sites. Cruise118 who is our TA pointed us to http://www.cruisingexcursions.com/

    Our stops.

Gibraltar - I have been before, and I know it’s easy to get off. Was just thinking taking a taxi tour up the rock. Is it worth booking this ? Someone pointed me to the following.

    http://gibraltar-rock-tours.com/package/semi-private-complete-tour-c/

Nice - This is a tender port, so i think we definitely need to book an excursion. However, reading on here seems Nice is not the best option in terms of where to go. My preference would be Monaco and Monte Carlo tour.

Rome - Again, due to distance from port think an excursion is safest option. Never been to Rome so seems Vatican or colosseum is best option ? any recommendations ?

Florence - Never been, no idea what to do :)

Genoa - Never been, no idea what to do :)

Malaga - Easy port, and I used to live on Costa del Sol back in 2000 so planning to grab a taxi and go and check out a few places I used to visit. Fuengirola and if I can get that far Puerto banus. Just need to be careful to get back to ship in time :-)

Lisbon - I have been before, but ages ago. Is the port central? Any suggestions on what to do?

Generally, we just want to wander around at each port – grab something to eat, relax and take in the sights. Not looking to do anything to crazy.

Thanks for any advice! If it was just the two of us would be a bit more relaxed, but first time I am taking my parents in law on a cruise so want it to run smoothly.

  4. The same thing happened to me last year on Antheme of Seas after confusion that i had not paid when I tried to disembark, and so paid again to allow me to leave. Then found two completed transactions (not holds!). Took weeks of calling to get the money back. I was given £100 compensation by RCCL on a future cruise. Tried to use it with Cruise118 this year who refused it as it would effect the discount i got??, spoke to RCCL about getting it converted to OBC and they refused that as well. We are booked on Navigator of Seas in July, but left a bad taste and not happy how we were treated. I have always cruised P&O before, so will probably go back to them next year and not via a travel agent. This year I am planning to have a cash account and then pay as I go - so I don't leave a debit card.

  5. Hi

I am after a little advice. We are a couple in our late 30's.

We were booked on Harmony of the seas in July for a week from Barcelona, but worked out after flights and hotel the same amount of money could be spent on independence of the seas / Navigator of the seas from Southampton for 14 days around the same time. So we are planning to change our booking. I know we might lose our deposit, but was only £50 each.

My partner's family are also going.

Her sister (35) is now single, and so looking to share room with her parents (in their late 60's) I see you can have 3 adults in a cabin, but how practical is this for 14 nights. I assume families do this with children. I did look for a single cabin for her, but they want £3k for 1 person for an inside cabin which works out more than 2 people sharing!.

So we are a party of 5. 2 adults (in 60's), sister (35) and myself and my partner (late 30's). I have done a lot of P&O cruises before, but they had never cruised until last year when we went on anthem of the seas for 4 nights and loved it!

So 2 questions and sorry if too much info ;-)

    1. Would you go on Navigator of the seas or independence of the seas? The only thing leading me to navigator of the seas is that I think it has the Zoom high speed internet we got on Anthem of seas (which was amazing!) plus had a newer refit.

    2. Advice on 3 adults in an inside or balcony cabin? Do you get another bed or do you sleep on the sofa?

    Thanks

  6. I went on a cruise in 2004 on P&O on Adonia (adults only) and had an amazing holiday, and loved the whole experience.

I am now with my current partner and are in our mid 30’s - no kids. She has never cruised before, and have been looking at a cruise for this summer. My current thinking was Adventure of the Seas from Southampton.

My main concern is the difference between P&O and RC ? Also the fact its family / kids based ? Worried its more like Butlins at sea! :)

I had an inside cabin on Adonia and had no issues, so do not think it's worth paying extra for the outside cabin.

Any other tips for cruising with RC?

I like the idea of a bigger ship which was why I was thinking RC over PO.

    Thanks
