I’ve sailed the Epic twice, still my favorite NCL ship.  Their thermal suite is awesome and it has the best Haven.  Shows are great, loved Priscilla.  Bars/ lounges are great and the music on the Epic has been better than i’ve experienced on others.  True, it does not have a waterfront, but the two trips we took on ships that did we never used it. Usually too windy and the one time we tried on the Getaway as soon as we walked out the door we were engulfed in cigarette smoke.  My daughter turned around and said nope.  Not sure if that was a smoking area and maybe that is why it was so bad.

But you’ll be fine.  I was on the Breakaway solo this past March, and had a great time as well.   I was seated next to a young couple at O’Sheehans and listening to them talk it was hard to believe we were on the same trip.  They complained to each other the whole meal, said never again, worst vacation ever, etc.  They were made for each other, most miserable people ever.  So attitude is everything.  Fun

people  have fun trips.  You’ll have a great time, don’t worry another second.

  2. The whole point of us traveling this time with carry-on only is to prevent loss of luggage and keep all of our luggage containing medicines, CPAP machine, etc with us at all times. We would obviously not go to our cabin to drop off luggage if this is not permitted and have no problems wheeling the bags around with us until then, and would also be considerate of those around us if we do.

  3. Getting read for our 2nd NCL Cruise Feb.2 on the Epic. We cruised the Breakaway several years ago...had a blast. Was reading tons of reviews on the ship here last night and most are not favorable!  Many who say service was awful (20-30 minutes to get a drink), rude employees and general disappointment with NCL..would never cruise them again. Yikes....we are not hugely picky people..heck, not having to cook for a week is enough to thrill me but all these negative reviews (in fact more "poor" rated than "excellent") have gotten me a bit bumbed. Trying not to let it affect our excitement for vacation!! Any good reviews????

  4. We're headed to our 2nd cruise in Feb and decided this time we are both going to pack carry-on only for our cruise on the plane. When we arrive at the port, can we just bring our carry on luggage with us until we can get in our stateroom? I remember having to turn our bags over last time and they were delivered to our stateroom later that day. Trying to prevent any issues by keeping it with us both on flight and when we check in.

  5. I just booked specialty dining for our Feb. cruise. We have the specialty dining (3 nights) included in our trip. My confirmation for Moderno listed "0.00" for price but LeBistro and Cagneys have nothing noted under price and say it is a "ala carte" menu. I am assuming our specialty dining covers these 2 also, as I seem to remember on our last cruise we went to those without any additional charges. Can someone confirm for us? Thank you!

  6. My husband and I cruised on the Getaway several years ago..had a blast. We are now booked on a western caribbean Feb. 2nd on the Epic.Basically chose this because of the date and ports. I really wanted to hit Grand Cayman. Now I am reading may reviews from folks that do not care much for the Epic...hard to get around, not as many places to see the ocean. I can still change our choice if we want...we are in our 50's, hubby likes the "play stuff", I can live without some of it. Any suggestions?????

  7. We sailed the Getaway 2 years ago and loved it. Planning 2017 cruise and are going back and forth between the new Escape or the Epic. We like the Western that the Epic runs from Port Canaveral and are leaning towards that. How does the Epic compare to the Getaway as far as onboard activities? I compared online and they look similar except for no rope course on the Epic (not a big deal for me). Suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
