  1. I was on the phone with Royal Caribbean a few days ago (with website issue questions) and he told me I could get to the port and check in whenever I wanted to after 1, I believe.

I just finally got an email with a check in time, it states our assigned time between 4:45-6pm. Much later than we had planned.

We can just show up and wait in the required line, right? We will have all our luggage, hotel check out is at 1. We are not rule-breaking people but I thought I'd be on the ship by at least 2 for lunch.

I found one thread on this from last year by searching but womdered what the current thoughts are.

    Thanks!

  2. Curacao was lovely, but the Grand Tour of St Kitts given by Thenford Grey made that island our favorite. His tour was amazing. Standing at the spot where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea while petting monkees is an unforgettable memory. This particular 6 hour tour was only $55 per person and worth every penny. You can check out this and his other tours at www.thenfordgreytours.com

I have this scheduled for our July 1 cruise on Adventure and I can't wait! I hope we get to meet Thenford! So glad to hear of your experience. 😊

  3. Disclaimer: I did post this in the Curaçao ports of call forum but it's not very active. If this is a bad place for this, please let me know.

    Hello,

We will be in Curaçao all day in port in July. I've booked the Aqua Boat Tour with snorkeling through RCI. A lot of the older reviews (several years old) are not great but the more recent ones are very good.

I'm hoping to find people that have done this tour in the past couple of years as I have some specific questions.

It takes people to the sunken tug boat which I am anxious to see. I have snorkeled only one time and I'm a bit of a scaredy cat but love the idea of adventure ;p

The time we snorkeled before was just walking into the water in Hawaii off a random beach and it was amazing. I liked that I could stand up if I wanted to.

I can see from YouTube videos that the tug boat isn't in water I can stand up in. Is the shore near by? Do they have people just jump off of the aqua boats/jet skis and you're just in deep water? Is it reasonable that this makes me scared? :o

Is there somewhere nearby to be on a beach and just snorkel in shallow water while still being with the tour? I might last a few minutes in the deep stuff but maybe not too long. Is there shade nearby?

I guess I just need an idea of what I'm getting myself into. It's an expensive tour and I want to enjoy it but recognize my limitations.

Thanks so much for any help!

  5. This is all great advice. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Here is a cut and paste from article (on cruise critic from March 10th) about the new cabins.

    news-adventure-ots.jpg

(1:15 p.m. EST) -- Almost four months after Hurricane Matthew forced Royal Caribbean to scale back and divide up its refurbishment of Adventure of the Seas, the ship has received the last of its upgrades. Among the new additions are Chops Grille and studio cabins.

Cruise Critic learned of the additions from ******************.com, which noted that Chops Grille is now open on Deck 4, and five inside studio cabins have been added on Deck 2.

Back in late October, after Hurricane Matthew caused extensive damage at the Bahamian shipyard in which Adventure of the Seas was located, Royal Caribbean had said it would not be possible to include any of the new cabin categories originally scheduled to be added during the dry dock. So the new studio cabins come as a surprise.

Upgrades completed during the original dry dock included renovations to Boleros Lounge and the ship's two-story mini-golf course. Completed shortly after the dry dock were the additions of the Dual Racer waterslides, FlowRider and Splashaway Bay Aqua Park.

  6. Hello! I've been reading here for months and appreciate all of the knowledge I've gained. We have been on one other RCI cruise and I think we are brand loyal now! It was on the Allure in 2014. Only one other cruise ever, many years ago on Carnival. I have a question I'm seeking help with.

We sail July 1st on Adventure of the Seas. I suspect that our cabin is one of the newly added ones. Is there a way to find this out? We are booked for cabin 2345.

There is a website that reviews and has photos of cabins from ships all over, and our cabin was not on their deck plan on the ship. I asked them, and they said it was likely new and they'd add it.

This is an inside cabin. We did inside before and were fine with it. We have booked a lot of shore excursions and don't mind saving money on the cabin. But with all of the reading I've done and advice I'm seeing, it's tempting me to see if I can change to something with an ocean view at least.

I'm a "germophobe" and really like things to be newer, so if this cabin is one of the new ones, it will probably make me happier than something with a view. If it isn't, I'm tempted to switch.

Can anyone offer advice or insight? And, can I just call RCI and ask if it's one of the new cabins? The RCI blog does say they have completed the renovations for the ship and have added studio cabins on deck 2.
