  1. One is out of Miami and the other is Ft Lauderdale. Ft Lauderdale is less expensive to fly to for us but I know we can get a shuttle to and between there and the  Miami port for about $30 a person so that really isn't a big factor. Good point to consider though...thanks!

  2. I was just a bit concerned by recent reviews saying Infinity was too run down?  The quality of food is the most important to my DH - is the quality pretty even across ships?  I know each has it's own chef and staff but overall is it something I should consider when choosing a ship on Celebrity?

  3. We are looking at cruises for 2020 and have not cruised Celebrity before.  There are two identical itineraries on the same week.  One is on the Infinity and one is on the Equinox.  The Infinity cruise is about $500 less than the Equinox.  Is it worth the extra money?  We do not typically eat at specialty restaurants and just want a relaxing time with good food and good service.  Thanks for any help!

  4. I am planning on booking a Celebrity Cruise on the Summit for November.  I'm new to Celebrity and am trying to find out what kinds of activities are offered and what prices are charged for those activities.  I have seen different wine tastings mentioned on here and a formal tea (not sure if that's still offered).  I just like to know ahead of time what's available and have the money budgeted for the ones that I'm interested in.  Thanks!

  5. We are a group of 7 ranging in age from 2 to 80 (three generations going!). This our first cruise out of Port Canaveral. I am a budget traveler and am always looking for ways to save a few dollars. We will be arriving in Orlando on the Friday morning before our Saturday cruise on the Carnival Magic. I already reserved a car rental for that day and a hotel in Orlando. Our plan is to go to the outlet stores near our hotel on Friday - well the females are - while the men can rest or use the hotel pool. When we go to the port on the day of the cruise - should we drop most of the passengers and the luggage off at the terminal before taking the rental back? Is it crowded and hard to get in and drop people off there? Also after the cruise we are also renting a car because we don't leave until about 6 that evening. Any suggestions on inexpensive things to do? My parents who are going aren't big on spending time at the beach so I'm kinda stumped. Thanks for any advice or help!

  6. I was wondering about traveler's checks also. I haven't used them in ages but we are getting married while on our cruise and the wedding planner we're using only accepts cash or traveler's checks for the balance of the wedding fees. I don't like carrying that much cash with me so I thought the traveler's checks would be a safer option but after reading this I don't know if I'll even be able to find them.

  7. You guys all scare me. Have been engaged 2 weeks now & just tossing around ideas. Was thinking about just a "simple" beach wedding somewhere but it seems from this forum that nothing will be "simple". Ugh. We are in late 40's, I've been widowed for 13 years and my fiancé has been divorced for 12 years. We both have 2 kids. Ages 18-24. Just want a simple ceremony somewhere hot with our kids and whoever else wants to come and make it a party. Was thinking Oct 2015 while our 3 youngest are on college break week in Ontario. Now I'm frightened to start the planning

You can make it as simple or complicated as you want. We are also in our 40s and wanted something simple but still beautiful. We chose our cruise first and then I found a wedding planner on the first port island to use. I found that was more affordable and had more options than using Carnival. We have only 8 other people coming...just close family. It's been very stress-free compared to what I've read by others on here.

  8. I am using island bliss weddings. I have heard/read amazing things about Janelle and her husband Stuart. We chose lime tree beach because there's a grassy area for the ceremony and then beach for photos. Plus, no other wedding will be going on at the same time. Did you pick a photographer?

We're using Island Wedding Services. We're having a very small, simple wedding...just us and family. There will be 9 of us altogether so very intimate. Right now we haven't added a photography package...I'm debating on that since I really just want a couple of good photos of us.

  9. The thing is, a lot of it is taken care of by the wedding planner. She has great reviews. I'm so happy I chose to have it in St Thomas. I do have to send in the paperwork. That's something I haven't done. I don't know how many people are going so there's no reception stuff done. The planner said that can be arranged a few months out so I'm not worried. I like the laid back style anyways. I work so much I don't have time for every tiny detail. That's why I hired her :)

Which planner are you using? We are also getting married in St Thomas and using a planner there. We choose St Peter's Greathouse as our site because I wanted the view but I'm not the 'on the beach' kind of bride.

  10. Hey...yes St Thomas requires you apply 60 days early. I'm not using Carnival for the wedding. My planner has the forms online to fill out and return to her and she'll submit them for me. All we'll have to do is go by the courthouse before the ceremony and get our license. The minister will take the signed forms back for us afterwards and we'll get the final papers in the mail. I found using an island planner was much less expensive and I could get a more personalized ceremony than using Carnival's. There was also a much more extensive list of location options.

  11. We're getting married on the Jan 25, 2015 sailing on Carnival Valor. We decided to go with an island wedding on St Thomas (1st port of call) because of cost and the beautiful setting. Any of the wedding planners there will help with the marriage licensing logistics if that's a worry.
