So I will say again...what I SAW was everyone in formal...yep..you got that right. Now I didn't walk around to every table on both floors so it was limited to my sight path but I would have assumed some would have adopted the evening chic but I didn't SEE anyone dressed less than formal. I also am just trying to add that yes we departed before December but the daily sheet is referring to Evening Chic but all staff, guests and other documents refer to formal. I was also adding the information for other people who were interested ...not for an argument starter. I believe the more info you have on a topic the better. If it doesn't meet your agenda sorry but I am not posting to promote either...just stating what I saw.

Daily sheet said evening chic so I guess it is in play. Many noted that there was confusion about when it was going into play so I just wanted everyone to know it's there as the guide but everyone is still doing formal in the MDR. And it was a major topic of conversation with most opinions being they were going to still adhere to the formal dress option because they liked it not because they had to. Just trying to give a real time feedback on the situation.

Currently on the Eclipse and last night was our first formal night. They still refer to it as formal night (though the daily sheet uses the new terminology). Also to let everyone know all that I could see in attendance in the MDR were formal....so rules may change but old habits die hard.

We have actually asked and been told it is Lavazza throughout but.........certain areas of the ship have a weaker version than others (think mass servings vesus specialty restaurants)

So be it...chic/formal/how I feel....I am still going to compliment the men and women who make an effort and look amazing whatever their decision and I am going to do my formal dressing because #1 I love dressing up and #2 I love the way dressing up makes me feel. I am not going to look down on those who choose not to just as I hope those that don't look at me as a snob.....it just makes me feel good. I don't think it's a huge infringement on any new personal sensibilities to make an effort whether it's a tux, or dockers an a shirt...as long as we are all having fun and laughing isn't that what we all want?

No you are not able to just switch to Select on any night. Blu is your assigned dinning restaurant. If you are unsatisfied with Blu then a discussion with the Maitre D may get you switched into the main dining room IF they can accommodate you. People that have chosen Select made that decision when they booked (and pre-paid their gratuities) and many times it is full with a wait list. Others trying to switch over only make Select over full and then there are long wait times for tables. Please do not go into this thinking it is an option to switch between the two choices.
We are always in Aqua but we also have MDR early seating on our reservations. We have gone before to MDR and never had to make pre-arrangements. We tend to do it on formal nights. So not saying your wrong just giving you our experience.

I always dress for dinner no matter
which line I am on. At a minimum, slacks shirt and jacket. Some times a tie. Dinner Suit (Tux) on formal nights. It just makes it special. I don't care what others wear. Except hats at the table.
I like it when people make an effort for dinner so thank you!

Willemstad, Curaçao, St George's Grenada, Bridgetown Barbados, Castries St Lucia, St. John's Antigua, Baaeterre St Kitts, and Philipsburgh St Maarten......we don't need something on each one but want to know if there are some don't miss items and don't bother items. Thanks in advance!

Heading to the southern Caribbean on Celebrity Eclipse in November. Looking for the "don't miss/don't bother" suggestions. We are bringing our own snorkeling gear but even we have limits with the snorkeling and beaches. Ideas?
-
Looking for those must do excursions for a cruise in the Eclipse November 29th on the Eclipse. Most seem to be snorkeling or beach - both of which we love but even we have limits. We are bringing our own snorkeling masks and snorkel but want to ensure we do the "musts" for that but hit the "musts" for other ports. Suggestions?

Read it again, it never says lawn club GRILL, just LAWN CLUB. A lawn there is, but no grill, so it's the photo that's wrong, not the description. Also it's GastroBAR, not GastroPUB
Sorry about the name issue....pretty sure we were one the first conversion last year and am equally sure that they called it Gastropub trying yo drum up business but I think it may have put a few people off. Can say it wasn't the name that put us off but the bad service and poor food selection.
-
I agree that when we were last on X there was an identity issue for the Gastropub...I put it down to we were on the first ship with its installation and hey hadn't worked out the kinks. That was last June(Equinox) and had hoped they had worked it out - it was located where the former Cellar Masters was - hence my question . Our feeling was there was a general disgruntlement from the staff in that it wasn't what they signed up for . I am glad to hear I get my Cellar Masters back and IF the Gastropub is still not up to par it won't bug me. Thank you for the feedback!
-
We were on Eclipse post dry dock....Cellar Masters is STILL Cellar Masters....it's entry was modified to make it more "open" and it was MUCH more in use on the TA than I have ever seen it on any ship. GastroBar was added to the Passport Bar, we never tried the food there although a friend did state it was good...
Thank you. I had heard that was how they were going to do it but was concerned they opted to remove my fave!

Premium includes Sierra Nevada but there is a side by side comparison in Celebrity's site for the classic package (within the description so says DH)
Ironically do you not see it is the two wives talking for their two husbands for beer,,ha ha. I'm a wine drinker!
-
Sorry peeps...can anyone who has been on the Eclipse since retro fit tell us if cellar masters is still available? We were on the first re outfitted Solstice class last year with the Gastrobar and I'm sorry I didn't like the change (staff was surly and there wasn't anything we wanted on the new menu that we would be willing to extra for). Would be a shame to have lost the wines we like to sample and the sommeliers we've come to love!
-
You need to define "craft" beer. If you mean draft (other than cheap beer like Budweiser) this would probably only be at the Gastrobar. If you mean bottle craft then ask...most have a wide selection but sometimes they run out at that bar. You Thad need to go to the next. My DH loves his beer and he had always found options and ironically once he overs at one bar and they don't have it then the next day they might (and they remember us).
We usually upgrade to premium as almost all non-American factory beers require a premium package level. Hope that helps !

We love Aqua for a number of reasons:
- ease of check in (we are at the front of that line)
- Blu restaurant (meal sizes are more reasonable and lend to not adding on the cruise weight)...also the ability to eat when we want (no set dinner time) and we meet different people every meal even if the tables are for two! Almost always have a convo with one or both of our neighbours
- amazing staff taking care of our room - they really seem to care and take an effort to get to know your needs and wants
- placement of rooms...we have to be the only people who like it under the pool area ....why...because it's quiet at night! When it's noisey we aren't in the room we are helping make the noise!
- the shower is amazing!
- bottled water is always available...I know you can get it anywhere but having it at your finger tips is great (we usually have 3-4 bottles)
- unlimited access to the Persian Gardens
- the robes are nice when you want to unwind but stay comfy ...and slippers...hee hee
These are the things we love and why out of five cruises we have booked four as Aqua (the first one we didn't know any better oh and they didn't offer on the first shop we did!)
-
We will be traveling in Aqua for the first time and have a question about Blu. It seems some love it and some hate it. We are vegetarians. Has anyone had experience with Blu's vegetarian offerings? Could you give me an example of what they might be? (We do eat eggs and dairy, just no fish or meat.) Thanks.
They usually have a vegetarian option but more importantly with celebrity overall I have found they will bend over backwards to make your meals to your liking. Our first ever cruise was on Celebrity with the whole family. My sister has some pretty sever allergies. Every night she was given the menu for the next night so they could accommodate her needs. On another celebrity cruise we had a special meal prepared by the staff at their insistence because we got to talking with our server about favourite meals - so he did it for us. And on another my DH wanted someone off the main dining room menu while we were eating in Blu....no problem. I think it comes down to if you treat the staff with respect and kindness they will attempt to do everything they can to help!

Just got off the Pearl and never had an issue with taking food to the room. No staff ever tried to stop or talk to us about it. Took the steward over a day to remove the plates but that spoke to the general overall service on this trip.
-
Just came off the Pearl and was disappointed with the food quality (not just buffet but specialty restaurants where premiums are paid), the service (kicked into high gear only the day before disembarking - for tip appreciation I'm sure) and the general overall shape of the ship - needs some updating. We stayed in a mini suite which had some perks we appreciated. Staff could not have cared less that we took food with us to our room - though the steward left the dishes there for a full day before removing. We generally sail with Celebrity and in the future will continue to do so as this ship and line leave a lot to be desired.

Thank you so much for your updates. We are embarking on the reverse cruise June 1st so it is great to get your view of what is happening. I also thank you for the gym review as I want to take advantage of it when I can on our trip. I am a runner and know I will get plenty of walking in but need my running adrenaline every now and again!

On Eclipse, captain Leo just mandated masks indoors
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
We are quite in agreement with the captain on his decision . We saw mask use increase the last couple of days and it was being encouraged but making it mandatory was a decision they did not take lightly. We are now at the point in our cruise that the weather is too cool to hang outside so the crowd density inside is going up. And I agree the coughing is very evident now .
