I just found compostable straws on Amazon that work and feel more like plastic. I'm not a fan of paper straws, so I will be bringing a box of these!

I am also Type 1 and I have frequent late night lows. The last time I cruised on the Getaway, I ran out of everything and ended up ordering a kids pbj room service meal at midnight, lol. Juice is the best for me, so I wrote to the access desk and requested a liquid exemption to bring juice boxes, which was granted. I also bring packaged candy and glucose tabs to have in my bag for shore excursions. There is plenty in the buffet you can bring back to your room- baggies are a great idea, I will be bringing some this time. Last time, I also ended up buying some candy in the gift shop. I will be much better prepared this time around. Leaving on the Escape in 3 weeks!

Not going to miss Brat Pack. Saw it and After Midnight in July on Escape and they were both underwhelming.
Choir of Man was absolutely fantastic. Lucky to have seen it with the original cast that created it and it was probably the best show I've seen on a cruise. Between Choir of Man and the dueling pianos, we were very entertained.
Booked on Encore for Jan. 2020 and hopefully Kinky Boots is a good one. I heard they won't have the dueling pianos on Encore and that makes me sad. So much fun that you could walk in on at any time of the night and enjoy.
Kinky Boots is a great show!

Only a few ports are persnickery about fruits veggies and other stuff - California comes to mind.
I buy Snickers candy bars a dozen for the price of one on board the ship.
In reality you don't need much - the buffet certainly has enough ideas - the gift shops are expensive
but if you are on a port intensive cruise - you can always get something there off ship.
Some of the private island port calls you maybe restricted in taking food off or back on the ship.
If you can do without your favorite indulgences - you will survive !
I subscribe to the "don't ask don't tell" bringing food on/off board (California excepted) but NCL
has so much food why bother - eating less is more healthy anyway.
Only big deal is having some foods in areas where others with food allergies may have troubles.
But that onus should not be on me - you no like peanuts - stay out of the state of Georgia !
So bringing snacks on board beware there maybe federal state local restrictions that NCL will
have to enforce - don't bring on stuff that may have to be trashed like the water issue with NCL.
I agree with what you've said- for the most part. I need to bring a few things to have in my state room to combat low blood sugar. But it is quite possible to bring a few things from the buffet back to your room and stash them in the fridge. Last cruise I ran out of packaged stuff and ended up having to buy candy in the gift shop. Going to pack more this time even if I bring it home,

We did this last year on the Getaway- so much fun! Does anyone know if they have this on the Escape? Going in February.

My nephew was, up until recently, a paramedic for Princess. They medivac all the time and remove passengers to hospital on almost every cruise. I was on the Allure last summer and there were TWO medivacs in one port and three ambulances lined up at another. My nephew said the longer the cruise, the more people are disembarked (and die), because older people tend to go on the longer cruises.

Wondering who has had bids accepted on GA 1/28?

We are on Freedom Sat Jan 6th sailing. We have are arriving a day early and our flight leaves at 10:00 am from a very cold Michigan. I hope one day extra is enough.
Best of luck to you! The blizzard may make things dicey, I hope it all works out.

Well we are in a haven spa suite and we bid on another haven suite... if we get our bid you might get our spa suite.... so it could be a win win. Lol

Yes! Hope to see you at the Meet and Greet! All I really care about now is getting out of this freezer that is called Upstate New York!

We are also sailing the Getaway that same sailing. We have a couple bids in to upgrade to the Haven area proper (we are in a haven spa suite already) and also have not heard anything. At the same time we are tempted to cancel our bids and keep with the room we originally booked. If we decide to keep our bid I will let you know if/when we are awarded the upgrade or not!

We are on the same sailing and we bid on four different Haven upgrades. I'm not feeling hopeful at this point. Haven spa suites and aft facing penthouse show as sold out on a mock booking. We bid on courtyard penthouse, spa suite, aft facing penthouse and forward facing penthouse. We didn't bid on a mini-suite because it's not that different from a balcony and we like out location for the balcony. We will be fine if we don't get the upgrade, but I really want it!!!!

We are sailing in 28 days and the waiting to hear is killing me! I bid on four different cabins in Haven, anywhere from $540 (Forward Facing Penthouse) to $810 ( for the Courtyard Penthouse). January 28 on Getaway. Anyone hear yet?

You all must live in warm climates! We are from the Northeast and cruising on Getaway in January. When we were on Breakaway several years ago, we were there to escape the cold. We couldn't imagine paying to go into a freezer- that was waiting for us when we got home!

The ship will provide an extension cord if needed, as well as distilled water. Let the access department know in advance that you're bringing it and they will take care of it.

Sailed out of NYC the first week of March a few years ago. The first day, there was enough snow that we couldn't see the Statue of Liberty and I nearly killed myself slipping on the deck. As others have said, it was warm enough to shed most layers by the afternoon of the second day. Now we fly to Florida even though NYC is close enough for us to drive to.

Don't forget to bring Imodium! A little bit of a tummy upset could get you locked in your cabin for three days if you have to go to medical to get a remedy.

Cirque & Dreams Steam - seating types?

Banquet is right up next to the stage- floor is further back. I don't think there's a bad seat, but we enjoyed being up close. That being said- you will be sitting quite close to your dining companions if you sit in the banquet seating. And you may not know them in advance. We loved the show and wish they had it on the Escape.
