Not everyone's cup of tea, but we are bargain travelers and are able to haul our bags around a bit, so we take the city bus.  You have to walk a couple hundred yards from the pier up to the magnolia street bridge and take the #33 bus (or there is one other but I forget the number).  The bus stops about 2 blocks from the Amtrak station.  $2 per person (maybe less for seniors).

Thanks, I appreciate the info. The luggage is a problem this time since we're going from the cruise to our daughter's wedding and have extra bags.

That's all we did--we were going to get an Uber but there was only one person ahead of us in the taxi line.  No reservations. Driver loaded up the luggage and we got to the station in about 20 minutes.

We got off the ship early (self-embark)--I was worried about the crowds since there were two ships in port that day.  I think we missed the crowds..

Thank you so much for your help!

We took a taxi from the pier to Kings Station this past July  We didn't have to walk too far--exited the port building, walked across the street to the taxi line.  It was very close.

Oh, so they can come in to where the shuttles do?  Great!  And we don't have to make a reservation?  We just walk out and get in a line for taxi rides? Sorry if I sound uneducated about this but we live out in the country, no taxis or busses.

  4. Hello All, I need to plan transportation from Seattle's Pier 91 to the Amtrak King Street Station post cruise to travel to Portland, OR.  I haven't been able to find any info regarding this, so I'm guessing my options are taxi, Lyft, or Uber.  My concern is, if I remember correctly, these cannot pick you up near the port building, but that we would have to walk to their designated area by the gate.  That would be an issue for my husband and myself.  Is there any way we can be picked up near the building like the shuttles do?  Or are there other options?  Any input would be appreciated.  Thank you!

We have previously sailed Eurodam to AK Sept 2018 & Sept 2019 and also to Caribbean Jan 2022. Honestly can't remember much specifically about her from those voyages, but I will say DH commented that the outside is looking a tad rough for a ship that just came out of drydock. There are paint scrapes, visible rust (?) on balcony, and several cracked windows in the Lido. Inside carpet in our cabin (SS6056) is a little frayed along the wall and there are screw holes where the old small 12" TV was removed above the fridge. With that said, overall she isn't really looking aged, just not fresh. But I think the biggest change was the installation of the library - it is very nice. Not sure what else was done, but that is noticeable.

We're really enjoying the trip - first cruise of the season has been nice. The earliest we've been is a May 5 sailing. Here's wishing you a fabulous voyage!!

Very glad to hear they have installed a library.  There was one when we first sailed with HAL in 2019 and were sad to see that there was not one when we sailed in 2022.  It was our favorite spot on the ship.

  6. Thank you for your travel log and all the pictures.  We sailed this itinerary last year on the Eurodam and will be doing so again this year.  Its fun to read your report and remember our last cruise and look forward to the next.  I have a question for you.  Have you sailed on the Eurodam before?  I understand it was in a short drydock this year and am curious if there are any noticeable changes.

  7. We will be sailing on the Amsterdam in September. Our daughter let us know she purchased an onboard credit as a gift for us.  Should that show up in my online account somewhere?  Or will they just inform us when we sail?  Or will it just "magically" be in our account once we are onboard?  I know things sometimes get "lost" online and want to be sure we can check on and receive her gift.  Thanks in advance for anyone's input.

  8. Hope you have a wonderful time. Looking forward to your posts. We will be on the Amsterdam in September. If you happen to be in an oceanview stateroom would you please let us know the location of the electric outlets? My husband uses a CPAP machine so the location of the outlets is a big concern. I've also read there is a usb outlet/slot by the bed.  Could you confirm that? Thanks in advance.

  9. @richwmn I just want to add my thank you to all the others for you taking the time to make all these posts.  We are going on this cruise in September, so reading your info has helped us get excited about the trip.  We booked so far in advance that I wouldn't allow myself to think about it because it was so far away.  Now we're starting plan.  Thanks!!

  10. I've looked at the spa brochure and it describes the Greenhouse Retreat and the Greenhouse Hydrotherapy Pool, but has an asterisk that states it is not available on all ships.  Is there anyone who has used the spa facilities on the Amsterdam?  Do they only have the steam rooms and heated lounges or is there a pool of some sort also available in the spa area?  Thanks in advance for your answers.

  11. We just returned last week from this cruise and loved everything about it. In fact, we considered booking again for next year, but we have an out of state family wedding and that may have to be our vacation.

We felt the Summit was in excellent condition. We originally sailed on her when she was quite new and shiny. She is showing her age a bit, but is still lovely and well kept. We particularly like the size and layout of the M Class ships.

As far as Fall color, the best we saw was outside of Quebec. As someone else stated, that can vary year to year. I would tend to think that the last cruise would be the best chance, but you never know.

Regarding Corner Brook - we didn't take any shore excursions, but I saw pictures from others that did and they were exceptional. We also spoke to someone who walked the trails around the lake and said it was wonderful. However, I don't think Celebrity goes there next year.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is the age of the passengers of these particular Fall cruises. Because it is after the time that most schools are in session, and because of the length of the cruise, most of the passengers will be older and retired. That doesn't reflect anything about the cruise, the ship, or the passengers, just a bit of information in case it matters to you.

    Our opinion - Highly Recommended!

  12. Hi all,

We installed an update for the website in the middle of the night. Please let us know if you continue to have any issues.

It is 10:45 p.m. Pacific Time Zone and I still can't log in. Come on, Celebrity; are you trying to keep us from using the website? Spend the necessary money to hire some technology experts and bring the website into today's world! It simply cannot be that hard. You hear from your loyal guests all the time about how much trouble we have with the website, so we know you are aware.

  13. We live just 15 minutes from the Long Beach airport and we use it any time we can. I just mapped it and it is closest to both the Long Beach and San Pedro ports. It is true, that only 4 airlines fly from there, so that can make or break it, depending on where you are flying from, or to. LAX can be quite overwhelming, if you are not used to a really big airport. Long beach is smaller, easier, and yet has plenty of restaurants, a gift shop, what's not to like.....

  14. For $200 more...definitely worth it for me. These are the amenities I like and will pay a little extra for:

Pillow menu -- #1 reason for me

    Expanded room service menu

    Priority boarding

    Priority dining reservations

Upgraded towels and robes for your use

    The footstools on the balcony

Fresh flowers in your room -- not the most important amenity but still nice

Now, AQ is so worth it because of all these as well as Blu, Persian Gardens and the observation relaxation lounge!! Oh, and those smoothies...yummo!

More info please regarding the Pillow Menu. Is this online to request before we sail? Or must we talk to the cabin steward about it? And what types of pillows are available?

  15. I am reading the cruise documents that I just received today for our September 21st Summit Cruise. I must admit that I really haven't paid much attention to them in the past, since we've been on 21 cruises.

On page 2 it states check in is between: 10:30 - 2:30 PM.

Then on the next page it states that check-in is between 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM.

Then it goes to list check in times by deck. Deck 2 is the last one listed at 3:00 PM.

Underneath the chart it states that Suite Guests and Captains Club can check in between 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM.

Our ship is scheduled to sail at 4:00 PM. Isn't 3:30 PM very late to check in? Wouldn't we miss muster drill?

If I was a first time cruiser and did not know any better might I arrive to late to check in? Also why the different times on page 2 and 3?

Doesn't anyone proof these documents before they go?

Did you get the documents in the mail or e-mail? I'm on the same cruise. Filled out the online check-in weeks ago and haven't received any documents, e-mail or regular. Wondering what's going on.
