  1. You are welcome Plucasana!

The only wardrobe area was in the walk-in closet area which did have 6 or 7 nice size drawers, plenty of hanging space (suits, dresses etc.), upper shelves, and several little "nooks" for shoes etc. There was also plenty of storage at the mini-bar area - just to the left of the refrigerator there were 2 nice deep shelves that were covered by a cabinet door. My son stored all of his clothing and shoes there. There was also a drawer at each bedside table. We utilized every inch of storage - which ended up being plenty for us (and I'm known for over-packing).

The luggage fit very nicely under the bed.

We did absolutely love this room!

  2. The balcony was wider than the regular YC suites - our butler Mohammed brought us a third chair so we all had a place to sit! I thought that was great!

The wardrobe area was very well laid out and all of our clothing fit very nicely. My son used the shelf space next to the mini-bar for his clothing and my hubby and I used the wardrobe. Lots of drawers, hangers and shelves. Truly I never felt crowded.

  3. There is a glass panel at the tub/shower which covers roughly a 3rd of the shower - kind of strange though. It never really kept all the water IN the tub area while taking a shower. I found myself having to place extra towels in the floor to absorb the water.

  4. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Pillows were perfect. Sheets were super cozy (we are really picky about our sheets). The draperies are SUPER blackout. We slept each night with the slider door open but with the draperies closed - this way the A/C stayed in but the sound of the waves was soothing and wonderful.

  5. The lack of outlets was a bit of an issue - I do wish there were at least USB outlets next to the bed for phone charging. There was an "American" outlet at the vanity and an outlet in the bathroom that required an adapter in order to use a curling iron or electric razor.

  6. The blow dryer is permanently attached inside the drawer at the vanity - it does have two settings (it took me a while to figure this out - initially I was a bit freaked out at how "under-powered" it was) - the high setting was perfect even for my very thick hair.

  7. I overheard that MSC saves these rooms for parties of 3 or 4. The "very comfortable" pull-out sofa was made up each evening while we were at dinner and then put back each morning during the regular cleaning. Very spacious and I especially loved the vanity area which was a lifesaver while getting ready as the bathroom is truly only big enough for 1 person (although it's very nicely appointed).

  8. Hi all! We were on the 7/30-8/6 Eastern Caribbean sailing in Suite 16034 which is one of the "square" rooms. Lovely!!!

Super spacious and perfect for the two of us and our 11-year-old son. Here are some pics!!

  9. I was on the sailing before Mimimama2004 and saw mostly the same. First formal night I only saw a couple of kids (teens) in shorts. Second formal night was MUCH more casual. I was expecting it to be dressier, based on a comment I got when I started this thread. However, as others have said, it could vary sailing to sailing.

I do remember the blonde "gate keeper" as well. She was at the door with a clip board. I'm assuming she was making sure everyone belonged. Lilliana(sp) however, was in charge. She seemed to know everyone's name and where to seat them. She was constantly running around working really hard to make everyone happy.

Lillianna (sp) was a very hard worker....totally in control and boy did she run around!! We had quite a few chats with her - she was Maîtres'd on "The World" for 7 years and several with Seabourn. These folks are wonderful - hard workers - many are away from their small children for months at a time. Impressive.

If any of you with upcoming Yacht Club reservations have the opportunity to have Giovanni Scognamigilio/Italy as your waiter...you're super lucky...he's a gem.

  10. Just got home yesterday from our Divina/Yacht Club cruise.

I'll prepare a full review when I get the laundry and emails under control but will comment on the dress "code". You will receive the "Daily" activity papers every day - look in the lower left hand corner of the front page for the suggested attire for that evening.

Formal, casual, 70's, White night, etc.

formal they suggest a tuxedo or dark suit for men. I saw mostly dark suit coats, tie and long pants the first of the two formal nights. I absolutely saw NO tuxedos - I did see one Scottish gentleman in full kilt formalwear. it was impressive and fabulous. They will not allow shorts on gentlemen - my hubby was turned away until the Maitre D rescued him and swooped us quickly to our table (it was white night - he only had white dress shorts and I thought he looked amazing).

I would pack a dark suit and one or two pair of slacks/trousers with a lightweight jacket that matches both of them. Nice button down shirt sleeve shirts too -

For ladies - sundresses or maxi dresses are great. I "dressed mine up" with fun accessories.

You can certainly go to Le Muse for breakfast and lunch in shorts. No bathing suits though.

In my opinion - the BEST place to have breakfast and lunch is on deck 18 at One Pool by the bar under the shade canopy. Best view - best service AND you can sit there in your wet bathing suit!!!

  11. The first formal night was night #2 and I would say most folks were dressed to impress. Gentlemen were in suits - ladies were in either a gown/maxi dress or cocktail-type dress. There were a few "offenders" in my opinion - but no shorts on "gala" night.

The second formal night was #6 - I think folks were getting "sun and fun" weary - and I definitely saw less suits and way less gowns.

  12. We just disembarked this morning (i'll be posting a review once I get the unpacking under control)...

My hubby was one of those guys who was turned away due to his "knees showing" - on white night. We wanted to get festive and join in on the fun of White Night BUT the only outfit he had that was all white was white dress shorts and a white short-sleeve button down shirt. How could they turn him away especially looking so dapper? Well...he was turned away by the young lady who is more of a gate-keeper at the entrance each evening (she's blonde - never caught her name).

Leilianna (sp?) the maitre D, quickly swooped in and saved us from heading WAY back to the YC to change. She was swift and just wanted to please us as she knew we were upset and a bit dumbfounded. I thought she was VERY good.

My 11-year-old son wore shorts the first and last night- usually with a nice button down. He wore a suit on the first formal night - but truly only because he enjoys it!!

In a world where casual is taking on a whole new meaning - it's truly nice to get dressed for dinner. I enjoyed it very much!!

The only issue we really had at Le Muse was the small children/toddlers and babies who were "dining" with their parents at 8:30 and 9:00PM....very fussy (as a baby should be if not in their cribs by 7:00 or 8:00). One small toddler cried every night in her high chair - I felt so badly for her - she quieted down only after she passed out of exhaustion. :(

I could tell the Le Muse staff were a bit uncomfortable as they sensed the other diners were feeling a bit put off - these weren't quiet cries - but rather loud, constant crying (the type that would have be pick up my child and leave the restaurant immediately as to not bother the diners who were not expecting babies in a fine dining restaurant).

Actually - there was one more young boy who had the worst hacking cough - like the entire meal - and his parents didn't pick themselves up and their obviously sick child and head back to the room to not bother or freak out the other diners. We dubbed him "hacking cough boy"...

Other than those two examples...the children in the yacht club were quite well behaved....and well (and appropriately) dressed. We were told several times that shorts on children every night was totally exceptable - just not on adult men.

Sorry for the long reply - having just disembarked today - I've got fresh memories swirling in my head!!

  13. A cocktail in the USA is typically an alcoholic drink consisting of a spirit or several spirits mixed with other ingredients, such as fruit juice, lemonade, or cream.

Favorites in the USA would be Cosmos, Martini, Gin and Tonic, Manhattan etc.

  14. Good Sunday Morning!

Getting excited for our July 30th Divina trip!!

We are booked in the YC and have our excursion booked for St. Maarten (http://www.soualigadestinations.com/soualiga_destinations/Welcome.html)

but are trying to figure out what to do in Puerto Rico with the time we have (8am to 4pm). We are two adults and an 11-year old. I'm sure it's going to be hot as blazes - and probably will appreciate a more water related type event for the day. Was wondering if any of you who have stayed in the YC have experience any of the "private" excursions and what they are - and if you have any recommendations.

My hubby would love a great pool at a nice resort - he loves a lazy river!!

Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions/recommendations you may have - this site is such a wealth of information!!

  15. Hi all!

I'm very excited for our upcoming cruise on the Divina/Yacht Club. I'll definitely pay it forward and bring my spin on things with a review once we arrive home. I've REALLY enjoyed reading all the threads and beefing up my knowledge of MSC.

I do have a question re: pre-cruise hotel in Miami. We are booked at the JW Marriott/Brickell and wondered if anyone has experience with this hotel and/or if there's a better option. We were recently told it's more of a business hotel and not very kid friendly. We are 2 adults and an 11-year-old son who loves a great pool - we just want to be fairly close to the pier and airport - and love a great hotel.

    Thanks! :)

  16. Really looking forward to your review! My family and I are sailing for the first time on Divina/Yacht Club on July 30th sailing. Was planning on paying it forward with a review of my own as I've benefitted and appreciated so much the reviews that others have left.

Have a great time! Really looking forward to sipping some of that coffee!

  17. Since you are comparing the pizza to places in Miami and New Jersey, I have to ask, have you ever been to Italy?

I have to chime in here. I am sailing from Miami on the 30th of July with my husband and son. We're booked in the Yacht Club and couldn't be more excited to spend a week with MSC. We're not as experienced as some cruisers (this will be our 4th in 15 years) but we are experienced travelers. In my opinion, I find that folks who complain about just about everything are "glass half empty" type people. Traveling is all about experiencing new things. The world is a big place with all sorts of personalities and ways of doing things. Learning to embrace and let things that might not fit your "way" roll off - gives way to moving forward and clearing the path to experience new wonderful things.

I feel that some negative reviews of MSC from experienced cruisers are folks who may be a tiny bit envious of the "new gal in town" and are really grasping at straws and picking her apart to make themselves feel better.

I think you could certainly pick apart ANY cruise line if given the chance.

It's vacation. You're on the ocean. You don't have to get up to go to work. You chose it. Enjoy yourself. Smile.
