  1. Hi All,

I haven't cruised in several years so I'm interested in just how dressy formal night is these days. I've heard that it's quite a range from street dress to cocktail dress and even pants. On casual nights, are capris and the like acceptable? Does the later seating make a difference?

Because we'll be spending a few days in Madrid after the cruise, I'm curious about laundry services on the ship. Is it available on a 7-day cruise? Would you recommend using? It would definitely help when trying to pack light.

Also, I read that weather that time of year is in the 70's but I'm not sure of the evenings when sailing. I'm trying NOT to pack for every possibility.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Rocky

  2. Just read several replies and gleaned all kinds of great info for our cruise in October. Some of my questions were answered even before I posted them! Thanks to all of you.

Speaking of October, I'm reading I should expect temps in the 70's for this area. Does that seem reasonable? Coming from upstate NY, I'm calling that glorious. How about evenings?

We're also staying in Barcelona then Madrid for a couple days each and want to pack as light as possible. Gonna be tough for a 12 day trip. Is there laundry service on board?

  3. Hi Smiley,

We'll be doing this cruise in early October and found your comments so far terrific. Keep them coming.

The excursions really add up quickly for 2 people so I'm happy to hear there are more affordable alternatives. So far I've liked the description of these two:

    • Monaco & Monte Carlo at the Nice stop
    • Capri w/out lunch at the Naples stop

Did you do (or plan to do) either? Comments? Not sure what to do in other ports. Hence my questions:

    • Does the ship dock close enough to the port or do we need to take a tender to go on land?
    • In some ports is there enough to interest us if we just want to walk around & lunch on our own where the ship docks rather than take an excursion?

It's been a long time since we've cruised and both were in the Caribbean. Our European travels have all been land-based so far. This will be our first European cruise and we're very excited.
