Does anyone have this letter?  What is the original date on it please?

We received cancellation of the April 14 sailing from Oceania on March 18, and they insist we're only entitled to 100% FCC, not 125 or 150, and no refund.

Including mine. April 14 Papeete-Hawaii-San Francisco. Brokenhearted.

    Tahiti closed to cruise tourism.

125% FCC or refund. Hard choice as we've already booked same for next year.

    IMPORTANT ITINERARY UPDATE
    FOR FRENCH POLYNESIA CRUISES

Dear Valued Guests and Travel Advisors,

We would like to provide you with an important update to your scheduled voyage to French Polynesia aboard the Regatta. Earlier this morning, we were notified by the government of French Polynesia that the islands are closed to cruise tourism. Regatta will conclude her current voyage in Papeete tomorrow and all further sailings are cancelled.

    The voyages being cancelled are:
     March 15 roundtrip Papeete
     March 25 roundtrip Papeete
     April 4 roundtrip Papeete
April 14 Papeete to San Francisco
All guests booked on the cancelled voyages will receive a Future Cruise Credit equal to 125% of the cruise fare paid. Alternately, if guests prefer a refund, Oceania Cruises will refund 100% of the fare paid.  Guests should notify their travel advisor or Oceania Cruises of their choice no later than by March 20, 2020.
Guests on the Extended Journey cruise from April 4 through May 2, 2020 will receive the same offer as listed.
Ancillary items including shore excursions, transfers, air fees, and travel insurance, purchased through Oceania Cruises, will be refunded.  Hotel and land programs, purchased through Oceania Cruises, will be included in the Future Cruise Credit.
The Future Cruise Credit will be added to your Oceania Club profile.  It may be applied towards any reservation booked by March 23, 2021 and sailing by March 23, 2022.
Guests with independent air arrangements will be refunded up to US$300 per guest for airline change fees with proper documentation. Please forward your request to OCIconcierge@oceaniacruises.com.
We are truly saddened to have to cancel your Oceania Cruises experience in Tahiti and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you aboard one of our ships in the very near future.
     Warmest regards,
     Carlos Ortega

  2. I was on that sailing with you. Alfredo’s pizzeria is truly outstanding. We ended up going there way more than we’d planned. Yum.

Lack of promenade deck is very annoying, agreed. Also the horizon court is crazy confusing. It’s like, you see something you maybe want on a salad bar. Keep walking. Then you pass 5 more salad bars and it’s not on any of those. So you have to back track through all the aisles. It feels like they don’t put out enough unique items to fill all the stations, so they duplicate here and there but with no rhyme or reason.

We LOVED the active piazza. There was always something going on. This was a major positive for us.

Can’t please 100% of people 100% of the time, can ya?

We will AVOID this class of ships because of the limited itinerary and the commercial ports we got stuck in, due to its sheer size. That’s the main reason for us.

  3. S.S. Minnow is available to house a few folks for a tour of an undetermined amount of time.

One way to get rid of your homeless problem: load them up on a ship and take them on a “threeee hour cruiiiise” [emoji443][emoji443]

I’d make sure there is no engine before I’d get on that [emoji12]

  4. Are you sure you are not mixing St Thomas up with another Caribbean port?

Nope. I have a store that carries my jewelry line in st thomas, so I was happy to see the little train from port terminated at that shopping center. Pretty hard to forget. But, like I said, this was pre-hurricane.

  5. Only match to Diamond-Elite. No match beyond these levels. I would not like to see a match to the higher levels since that might cause overcrowding situations in venues like Michael's Club. I would also be concerned with a reduction of benefits if the cost became too high to Celebrity.

Some of that is already happening, with the 3 drinks per day instead of the open lounge transition. Which some people prefer, but for sure is cheaper.

  6. Sometimes you gotta be careful what you wish for though, as far “find cousin in the us to book for you”.

We’ve gone through a nightmare sailing with celebrity this past January, with zero compensation. The Argentina passengers on board were able to sue and reach a settlement for a refund, Australians and UK pac are in the process of doing the same.

Those of us who booked in USA though are subject to the small print you accept (and don’t read and can’t do anything about) at booking, which means we can’t do a darn thing by default.

  7. Celebrity has been continually diluting and devaluing their brand. On our last celebrity sailing (last ever for us), our 25th in April, chatting with other passengers - overwhelming number in the elite lounge were on their very first celebrity cruise due to their RCL status giving them elite.

They kept bringing up that the sales pitch for celebrity was “free drinks” with your status from their agents.

Some nights you couldn’t get a seat in the lounge unless you stood in line before 5pm. While this is not our main reason for dropping celebrity going forward (look up #celebritycruisesfail on FB or Twitter if curious), we were sad to see this happening. (As I write this on a sea day aboard the Regal Princess)

  8. We did Christmas cruise for 11 years in a row with our two daughters, starting when they were about 9. It was absolutely perfect for us. We are a small family, and just the experience of doing carol singing with a group of a few hundred people in the atrium was priceless. Highly recommend.
