  1. What are the perks for booking a grand suite versus a junior suite on the Freedom class? If I understand correctly, both provide double C&A points.

I know on the Oasis class the CK is not open to JS guests (and there is no concierge for JS) but I am not familiar with the Freedom class. I think there is no CK?

Also, is there a curtain separating the bedroom from the sofa in the GS as I saw in the picture?

I know I could probably find these answers by doing a lot of search on CC... Therefore, your direct help and input is very much appreciated. Thank you!

  2. Thanks! I started looking into the Freedom class. Liberty of the Seas is the only choice for December 2020 for the Caribbean as Freedom of the Seas will be sailing from San Juan. I am also looking into MSC Seaside as an alternative.

Thinking of maybe booking LOS in a suite for a change (only sailed in balcony rooms before) and for double points.Need to read more about suites on the Freedom class.

Coming from Oasis Class, you'll be giving things up no matter what line/ship you choose.  I agree with the Freedom Class recommendation, or even the Voyager Class ships that had the waterparks and Flowrider added.

If you want to try another line, I recommend looking at MSC's new ships.  Seaside and Seaview look beautiful and some friends of mine loved Seaside.

Thanks! I wish we didn’t start cruising with Oasis. But I’m thinking that we are maybe missing on other lines equally attractive to families. I suspect my daughter would love Disney ... but what happened to those prices?! I’ll check MSC.

  4. We’ve cruised only 5 times so far and only on the Oasis ships from RCI. We love it but at the same time, we kind of started feeling that maybe we'd want to look into something new in the future. Our 8-year old totally loves the Adventure Ocean club (she'd spend the entire day there if she could!) and my husband likes the Promenade for sitting down and enjoying coffee and people watching.

What ships sailing in the Caribbean might be a good alternative to try if we wanted a change?

  5. Wow, thank you everyone! You are truly amazing!

My daughter is 8 and she absolutely adores the Adventure Ocean here. We might have to stick with RCI for a few more years (we’re far from Diamond too) or maybe look into Disney cruises (but I’m worried I’ll get too much Disney for my taste). We are now on Symphony and it’s great but something just feels less satisfying than the sister ships... Service seems inferior and there are a lot of rude people 🙄 I figured it might be time to try a different line just to compare.

    Thanks again everyone!

  6. We’ve only been on the Oasis ships from RCI (currently on Symphony 😏) and loved it but feel it is about time to try something new in the future. Our daughter loves the Adventure Ocean club and my husband likes the Promenade while I enjoy the park.

What Celebrity ships would be similar in category (or higher) to the Oasis ships?

Also, did I understand right that we’d still get points for our RCI loyalty status when sailing Celebrity?

Thanks a lot! I just need some ideas of what to start looking for.

  7. I noticed a lot of experienced people are booking as soon as itineraries are released not just for lower prices but for getting the cabin of their choice. I'd like to book for Caribbean summer 2018 as soon as itineraries come out over the next few days (or at least try to) but I do not know which cabin to request  I realize my question is indicative of my ignorance but I do not have much time to do my proper homework on this. I've been on 3 cruises only so far but always booked relatively late - less than 6 months of departure.

Could you kindly recommend which cabins would be best or are your favorites in the Oasis class? I'll be looking for a junior suite or balcony ocean view depending on the price. I have been reading about hump, bow, aft., Aqua something? etc. and feel lost :o

I am also thinking maybe deck 6 or 8? Thanks in advance!

  8. Lovin the live review. Going to be onboard in just a few weeks!!

DW has two questions about breakfast items - if you happen to swing by the buffet in the morning...

Do they have little boxes of All-Bran cereal?

Do they have non-fat greek yogurt?

I realize these are very specific items - but if you happen to see them them she'd love to know. Thanks!!

They do have the little boxes of All-Bran. They have non-fat yogourt but I don't think it is greek style, at least the one I tried.

  9. My apologies...I didn't word it well. My post included a quote from another Poster who had stated that normally C&A gets to book on Monday and then General Public on Tuesday. I was replying to his post and should have stated "non-C&A / general public" were also to book yesterday and that the sale lasts longer this week. Sorry for the confusion.

No worries, I understood what you meant ;) My TA does not work on Friday night/Sat so he wouldn't have checked for me ... Fortunately, it worked out. Thanks again for offering advice!

  10. Hope it works for you so you can be near your parents. I also hope they have a marvelous time.

You said your parents speak a different language. Check with Guest Services, as they print the daily activities bulletin in several different languages. Also, check with the maitre d when you get on board to see if any of the wait staff would also speak your parent's language and maybe you could be seated in their section.

    Thank you! I will!

We forced my parents to come, they don't want me to spend even one cent for them  I am so looking forward to this reunion! It makes my heart sing!

  11. Thank you SO much, everyone! You've been a true support and I am grateful for that.

I got the upgrades (JS for my parents, ocean view with balcony for us). On the SAME deck. BUT I lost the OBC :(

I am nevertheless pleased, my parents being in a JS for their 50th anniversary and avoiding them a heart attack while having to go to the muster drill by themselves (non-English speakers). We'll cut on other things, it is what it is, glad it worked out this way. Thank you all! (I basically called RC a 3rd time and got the courage to ask for Resolution department as suggested by PP, I explained my situation and why it was SO important for me on so many levels, the person asked for the TA name and contacted them and offered this option).

Now back to planning (or rather working till vacation).

    So grateful for this forum!

  12. If prices for each cabin are $800 less perhaps you can cancel lose your deposits and still come out ahead. Depending on where in the cancellation period you are. If you lose $500 per room you would still be up $300 for each cabin. Good luck Let us know how you make out

For our cabin it is $800 less, for my parents' it is $1,500.

I asked the TA to confirm the cancellation fees but need to wait for his answers today. I believe I am at the 50% penalty. Plus OBC.

    Thanks very much everyone!

  13. It is absolutely ridiculous to hold your TA responsible for this.

As others have said before, any outcome will depend on what kind of booking you have and when it was made. Enjoy the cruise!

I already explained above that I am not holding my TA responsible as some might have inferred from my words (English is my 3rd language, sorry). I would have preferred to be able to deal directly with RC. It seems to fit my personality better, that's all. I guess when you have a TA who's looking a lot for you it is different but that is not my case. I do not blame him in anyway, simply I wish I could advocate and handle this myself. Getting that feeling of "at least I tried".

    Thanks!

  14. There is HOPE!!!

I called last night and was able to upgrade from my balcony to JS 7166 for $58.00!

The first time I called the rep quoted $198. I told her that was more than I saw on the website and she explained the GGG sale was for new bookings only. I was disappointed, declined and hung up. The more I thought about it the more I pumped myself up to call again. I did and the rep quoted $98 - definitely better so I jumped on it. She put me on hold for 2-3 mins came back and said she was able to do it for $58!!!! Woooooooooooo!!!!

    So excited!!!!! 13 more days!!!!!

Good for you!! I called twice and gave up while waiting ... Then called again, I am waiting to hear from the TA today. I will lose all OBC if any upgrade can be done. I am willing to pay a bit more but they cannot access my reservation, only the TA can. The cabin of my parents is currently half price of what I paid. When adding to the flights from Europe and the flights from Canada to the USA it does make a difference ...
