  1. The Gem cruise in Nov 22 starts in Turkey, which has an active war to the north, a smaller war to the east, and Syria and Iran to the south.  The US has recently shot down a Turkey drone.  Egypt police just shot some tourists and their guide.  The USN is sending in an aircraft carrier.  Is there a chance the entire Istanbul to Rome cruise will be cancelled?

  2. Thanks to the person who linked the actual agreement concerning the cruise ticket.

Took about an hour to read it, but was surprised (unless it is a huge misprint) that guests agree that the value of all their luggage, cameras, phones and laptops, clothing and all else...is no more than $100.

As far as I am concerned these "drink packages" that are offered by many cruise lines are little more than a sales gimmick.  I enjoy 2-3 drinks during HH; maybe another drink or two before dinner and a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.  Maybe a Bloody Mary or Mimosa during the late morning.  Maybe a nightcap before bedtime, but, I have never found these packages to be worth it for me.

  4. Sadly, yes.  Definitely re evaluating.

Booked on the Jade Greek Islands for October.  Just watched a webcam showing Jade anchored off Santorini with the tenders coming and going.  Just gorgeous.

But a false (or worse actual) positive could mean thousands of dollars in repatriation costs and quite likely loss of a job which has medical benefits.

Using NCL air made the trip almost a gift, but not knowing ATL-ATH connection times, even airline ahead of time is a huge stressor.

I want to thank NCL and my PCC for the courteous and efficient responses to my concerns as we made and booked three times.

I really wish cruising could resume at a person's own risk with negative covid testing prior to boarding.  If someone gets deathly sick, quarantine them until they can get them off of the ship.  The days of quarantining everyone should be long gone.

This is as far as I've gotten on this thread, so the obvious problem with your remark may have been addressed (maybe even kindly, lol).

You ignore the well known fact that once someone displays symptoms of the disease, every one they have encountered has been exposed and has the potential to get sick and/or infect others.  Picture a ship that is not allowed to dock anywhere.  Ooops... it already happened.

  6. Thanks for the great photos, Mr G.  I've never been on the Jade, but did a crossing from Dover on the Jewel which I guess is similar.  Not too big, not too small (well, no such things as too small, imo; i Loved our two cruises on the Norwegian Crown, now the Balmoral).

Seldom can I remember such uncertainty about book a cruise 90 days out.  What a whirl it has been, and is.

  7. The Jade is currently in Naples, with a 2021 itinerary that takes it all over the world.  The Southern Caribbean 13 night out of Tampa looks SO tempting, but my travel companion is (rightly) concerned about the repercussions of being denied docking on return.  Like losing a job and health insurance.  Or getting sick and dying.

  8. For some time there has been a cluster of cruise ships from several different lines moored near the Bahamas.

At any one time there appeared to be 10-15, from Carnival, MSC, RCL that I remember.  As the storm approached, I looked and they were gone but I found them or a similar pod just north of the West end of Cuba.

My question is, did they all travel together?  Who gave the order?  Who told them when to return?
