  1. We are leaving on our first Princess cruise to Alaska August 9th and we booked an obstructed OV guarantee and just noticed on cruise personalizer that we were assigned an OV. Yay!

  2. I have the opposite issue with my husband, he is a Canadian with a DUI loooonnnggg ago, but in a different last name than his passport. He's never had any difficulty crossing into the US from Canada through airports or at land crossings but has never been seriously questioned.

We are driving ourselves up the Klondike Highway and back and I'm a bit worried about him being stopped on the way back into the US and not being allowed back to the Cruise ship.

Does anyone have any insight on the procedure on the way back and if we are driving an Alaskan rental, with a woman at the wheel, will it just be a cursory glance at the passports and a breeze on through?

Trying to get our US travelling done before all nationalities are finger printed at US border crossings.

  3. I would love to try the Crab Shack on our upcoming August 9th Coral Princess Northbound Alaska cruise but I'm traveling with my husband who doesn't eat seafood. Could I pay for one and would they be OK with my husband sitting with my while I indulged? I really don't want to miss out on a seafood feast but wouldn't want to dine solo or have to pay for him and only have him nibble corn.

  4. Just a thought here (no judgment please, I'm frugal!) but how closely do they examine those two bottles of wine? For example, not being a wine drinker, what if I brought two screw top dark wine bottles filled with rum or vodka?

  5. Just a heads up, Butchart Gardens is beautiful, particularly at night when it's all lit up but it is at least a 35 minute drive from the port so taxi fare would be extremely high, better to book a bus tour if it's available. It's open til 10:00 pm until the end of August. Good luck!

  6. I've lived in Victoria all my life. 4 hours in the evening is a very short visit but you can walk to the inner harbour within 10 minutes or take a 2 to 3 minute cab ride to the inner harbour then wander through the Empress Hotel and up Government street to see the lovely historic architecture and tourist shops. In that short of time, I don't think you'd be able to get too far from town but there are some very nice pubs if that is of interest to you. What is the date of your stop in Victoria?
