  1. Azamara Air (Choice Air b Azamara) NO LONGER Exists!!!! Found out the hard way when I needed a change in reservations due to a medical emergency

  2. Thanks, looks like the new guys have their act together.  you said the ship was not fully booked.  Could you make a guess as to percent occupied based on what you are seeing in the dining room and cabaret. Enjoy, rest, and do not eat too many eclairs.

  3. i was able to book air for feb 5 cruise from  auckland thru choice air the other day.  the good part about choice air under the current conditions if the cruise is going to happen is that payment for the air is not due until full payment for the cruise is do. so if the cruise is cancelled before full payment the flight is cancelled and there is no charge

  4. the only ships that have planned sailings this summer are the very new ships that have the most up to date air filtration systems that all countries require. The Azamara ships are 20 years old as are the 4 that Oceania owns.  I would bet those systems are extremely difficult to update.  The last thing ANY cruise line wants is to start cruising and then have a covid out break on the ship.  That is why only the newest of the fleets are sailing.  Also there are not very many countries you can sail from or to and the list does not seem to be growing

  5. this is what I posted last week.  There is NO information coming from Azamara on items such as Choice Air.  All we received since the purchase was some information on the loyalty program and a confusing announcement about Tony Marky (the memo says one thing and Tony says something else about his new position).

  6. hey sailing for along time will be a crap shoot.  my concern is with the new Azamara, since it is a private company, is how well capitalized are they? will they be using payments made in full for cruises that were cancelled for daily expenses?  how difficult will it be to get full refunds for cancelled cruises? Although, the sale was completed last week, they still had almost three months to put together information about their plans for the future.  If they want to hold on to current reservations and attract more reservations they have to be more proactive with their plans.  I have been involved in a number of company transitions like this and there was always a playbook of announcements for day1 to assure ALL parties involved.

  7. Wonder what happened to Heike.  Is she the hotel director on the new ship?  Is captain Johnnes now the captain of the new ship and is he taking Eric and Heike with him?  Stay tuned for answers

  8. I think everyone is loosing sight of the true endgame.  By Sycamore partners buying a fourth ship for Azamara (R-1) and hiring a highly qualified person as chairman. They are in the cruise industry for the big payoff.  The payoff is to take Azamara public which means they will do everything that is needed to make the line actually better than it was before.  Azamara was a nusiance for Royal.  Royal never really let the brand fly. Do not throw the towel in on the line.  Companies actually get better when someone is paying attention.

  9. If you try to cancel a booking because you cannot obtain a doctor's waiver pertaining to your health  Azamara will still charge you the $75pp cancellation fee.  It appears Azamara wants you to pay the cruise fare and airline costs before they would allow any cancellation.  Then you would have to go thru Azamara's and the airline's maze to get your money back. We recently cancelled the Nov10 sailing to South Africa. The online price for the cabin we had, more than doubled the price we paid!!  We have taken 12 cruises with Azamara.   This is no way to treat loyal cruisers!!!
