  1. We cruised the med about 8 years ago when there was a terrible storm. The ship rocked for most of the week. Day 1 youngest son aged 10 was ill. Took him to the medical centre where they gave him a shot of something. He slept for 4 hours and then was absolutely fine for the rest of the trip.

  2. My aunt is 85 and partially sighted. She just returned from a 17 night P&O cruise out of Southampton, we are Uk based. She travelled with a friend aged 88.

The crew were amazing. They found her a table in the lightest part of the MDR. They read the menu to her and cut up her food. In the bars the bartenders read out the cocktail menu.

She does not carry a white stick as she finds it difficult. She regularly cruises but refuses to fly as airports are too difficult for her to cope with.

She knows that on a ship she will get the help needed. I'll ask her if there were any worrying issues when she returns from her short break!!

Oh I do know I inform the ship prior to departure that she is partially sighted. She also informs when checking in.

    Go and enjoy.

  3. Hi Paul.

Really loving your posts. We are based in UK and were on reflection in August. First time with celebrity for us as we are new ish to cruising. We absolutely loved it.

We have only cruised Europe but want to try the Caribbean next.

Do you have any advice re what ship /company would be good as we will probably be travelling with sons aged 19 and 21? Unfortunately we have to travel in August due to my job but will do a TA as soon as I retire. Enjoy your vacation.

    Tracy

  4. We didn't visit a speciality, although we intended to, as our waiting staff in the MDR were such fun. They made every evening a special occasion.

As we boarded the ship we upgraded to premium drinks as we like a selection of wins with dinner, DH drinks British ale and the cocktails I like were not on the classic. They wanted $10 a day for the upgrade but we paid $90 each for a 10 night cruise. Well worth it for us as we also had a bottle of San pellegrino every evening with our meal.

    Enjoy whatever you do
