  1. With the app? :)

If you have a smart phone go to your app store or on line and find Princess@sea and download it now and put it on your phone. The Regal and Royal both have it operational. When you get on board put your phone on Airplane Mode this turns off part that takes to your network. or would create large roaming bills.

Go to wifi and connect to the Princess Wifi connection. You will then be able to use app. Cannot use app until on ship. The app right now has the patten on it so you can see the activities by hour on the ship for the day. What movies are going to play in theater and movies under the stars and all the other stuff. You can also text between friend on board with smart phones if you get there number, assigned by princess, and you set it up in the texting section in the app. Need to go to internet café and get the instructions off the desk to make this one work. Problem here is no alarm if you get a text. So if you do not look you do not know.

I have been on another cruise lines that has all of this and also the menu each night for dinner. They only do MDR. so by the second night the waiter stopped giving me a menu because sometime during the day I already made up my mind what I was having for dinner. I am sure Princess will expand it as time goes by. Wifi only gives you access to app. If you want internet then you have to purchase a package internet plan for Princess and frankly they are terrible.

It's funny because a sister Co Carnival has far better deal then they do. We just wait until we get to port and I carry old smart phone that is striped of all information and use it to go to hot spot and check in at home tough one of the social media spots with DD and DGCs who will not be on this cruise. Sat in rest across form RP in Bonaire last time had three beers half what they charge on board and free internet got all caught up. If you use sprint it is on the Network while in St Thomas so we get caught up there just take phones off of Airplane mode.

Be happy to help you with it cannot remember stateroom number right now but sure we will be communicating more before cruise.

  2. We booked Crown Grill on formal night just because we do not need to get "dressed up for dinner" We have both been retiered since 2008 and are not out to impress anyone. We also do not care what anyone else thinks. We are on vacation and it is our vaction. All the stupid dress rules are falling and will be gone sooner than later. I do not pay attention to what any one wares. As soon as dinner is over i go back to stateroom and put shorts on and go to shows or explores in my shorts. They take my money in the casinos in my shorts also. There more time wasted on this subject than the law allows. DCL dress code the best. Cruise casual, no swimsuits or tank tops in MDR. That is it.

  3. Because. FTPC people in Dec 2014, after a set MDR routine on DCL. Love anytime dinning. I do not care who or when anyone comes to any dinning room. We did not have any place to go. Enjoyed all 24 people we shared table with. Did not mind had 10 min wait one night. I see the way things going there will not be MDR in not to distant future. Change or change will change you. We did not go to dinner until 7:30 and when we finished the dinning room was half empty. See you on Royal Princess on Nov 10, 2015. Mean while have late seating on Fantasy in may. This is going to be interesting. Show before dinner. ??? One thing other than outside entertainment have seen all the shows.

  4. $8.05 a day Emerald Princess. Soft Drinks, Mock Cocktails, and Malts. We came out way ahead. 3 mock pinacolotas each per day.

We carried on bottled water and bottled diet cokes in plastic bottles and two bottles of wine. Only thing not allowed in liquor and limit on wine.

  5. It's not an app. You are using the intranet aboard the ship then using your web browser you go to royal.princess.com

This loads the page, as long as you stay within these pages, and don't go to the internet you have no problem, and it remains free.

It gives you the daily patter, you can set up an account to view your shipboard account. It also shows you where on the ship the venues are located.

Thanks now i understand how PCL's system is working will becusing in Nov.

  6. Just got off the Royal, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I used it quite often during the cruise. I was very impressed at how quickly the onboard accounts were updated.

One improvement I'd like to see is the ability to mark certain events that you are interested in, and maybe a reminder pop up.

Please don't misunderstand me, I think this is an awesome use of technology. Just thinking of improvements.

Thanks again to the folks of cruise critic for bringing this to my attention!

Did you load app after boarding or before you went. to ship?

  7. Crzn-Life says the post is from the ship, so it sounds as if Wifi works, but not the ship's intranet.

The app works on wifi on board the ship, internet does not come into play at all you put you devise in airplane mode. Do not connect to internet.

Have used it on DCL ships. Called Navigator App on DCL.

I run my model trains with my cell phone with a system very similar to it on a router in my train room not connected to internet. Stand alone wifi connected to computer and command station on trains connected to computer. App is in the phone and tablet that is my throttle. New world. Ain't your daddies trains no more.

Can run a 100 at one time on same track if I were that good.

    Happy cruising.

  8. I said I would report on how well the app works once onboard the Regal. Well, here I am on the beautiful Regal but nothing to report because Princess@Sea is Currently Unavailable. Very disappointing. I was counting on at least having Princess@Sea to use in my cell phone to help me find my way around the ship, but instead had to resort to the paper map! Darn. Internet Manager hasn't a clue when the system outage will be resolved.

Sound like you are saying the Wifi was out and not a case of app not working?

  9. We were on in Dec but did not become operational until Jan. Have used the same type program on DCL Fantasy and it worked every were on board. I use iphone, is my watch, camera, and pattern all in one.

Put your phone or tablet in airplane mode and leave wifi on.

Do not know if you have to load app before boarding. You do on DCL.

    It is Princess@Sea app.

There are videos about it on You Tube.

  10. We did carry on 1.5 cases of diet cokes in roll on bag. 12 oz plastic bottles. Put in room frig. If you fly maybe worth having shuttle stop at store on way to ship. Your call. We are drive people so easy for us to do. Will say there was all the coffee and OJ you can drink in Horizons.

We only had been on DCL prior to cruise on EP. So this was new to us with drink card but it all works.

  11. Hi

Is this the $8 a day package? What other mocktails can you get & may be a silly question but are malts the same as milkshakes?

    Thanks

    Poppy:)

Yes Malt, Milkshake same on Emerald was right next to pizza on lido deck. We only drank pina colatas about 3 each per day. Did carry some one dollar bills because no bill for drinks and no way to tip bartender for service.

  12. We are preparing for drive to the port in Houston and we purchased parking rom Bayport Cruise Parking at the dock. They gave us a address of 4700 Cruise Rd. Pasadena, TX but our GPS won’t allow us to enter that address in Pasadena. Our GPS says there is a cruise port in Seabrook with the 4700 Cruise Rd address but I believe that wrong town.

My question is does any have the GPS coordinates of the parking lot at Houston Port? We are on the Princess Emerald on 22 Feb.

Watch video will show all. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express La Port Tx. Which is six miles away.

  13. Purchased on board in atrium they had table set up. $58 per person Soda Plus you get all the soda, all the mock cocktails, and all the malts you can drink. We got our moneys worth on pina colotas mock cocktails.
