  1. Hi,

Do you have any comments on the size of the room? How many people were in the cabin with you?

I will be on the Musica next year and we are 4 in an ocean view ( I am concerned about size)

We were three in a balcony room. Room size was comparable to any other cruise line. Only issue was our daughter was not in a bunk bed but a pullout couch which took way too much space, and prevented us from going on the balcony when the bed was out, if I were you I'd make sure the 3rd and 4th occupants have bunk beds and not a Pullout couch.

  2. Since you are just on day one maybe you can answer this later but I read something along the lines that you have to be back to the dock 2 hours before departure and it take 1-2 hours to get off the boat? Sounds like it would really limit your time in port. Let me know if you have this happen.

    thanks!

Hello, no we did not have that problem at all. We were always off and on pretty swiftly. Back on board was always 30 minutes before sail away and we were usually about the last ones on. Even the santorini tender operation was great. No problem there!

  3. Hope you enjoyed your cruise.

Now that you are home, hopefully, is there anything to look out for on Musica?

    Interesting things to do etc.

Also is there and possibility you could post some daily planners.

    Thanks

Hi, apologies we extended our vacation after the cruise! Look out for ....best thing were drinks and pizza! Sitting by the pool in the shade, walking around deck at night. Got a wonderful massage. Played bingo. Shows were ho-hum but entertaining.

Sorry we had our room steward trash all our daily planners in the last night...

  4. Agocrusin, I just noticed that you're from Canada. Did you book in the US? I was under the impression that US bookings were given vouchers for water for cruises in the Med. If you have to pay, then that explains Beardie's situation. However, previous US posters have reported on this forum that they received vouchers for water on Med cruises because of complaints that tap water is not served in the MDRs. Maybe MSC has rescinded this policy? They've certainly be making (unannounced) cutbacks where drinks packages are concerned!

Booked with an agent in the US. I asked around and no one had free water in the dining room. We paid the 20-something euros for water bottles and that's that!

  5. Thanks for doing this! We have been on MSC i,n the Med , twice before on the Divinia and Fantastica, two beautiful ships. I'm concerned that the Musica is older and won't be as nice. How is the condition of the ship? A frustration with the Divinia and Fantasia was that after touring all day we are tired and hungry. After getting back on board after 4:30 we constantly found that the only option open was pizza! Day after day…..! Is there any place on the MUsica open for a snap after the buffet closes at 4:30? Silly stuff, but curious! How are the pools? How has your food been and the service?

Thank you again for answering these and others questions. We all agree that there is little info on the Musica and I think we all really appreciate you doing this while on vacation!! Have a wonderful time!!-Kade

Being a newbie MSC cruiser, I cannot compare to their other ships but I find Musica in pretty good shape. Pools, carpets, rooms, public rooms are all in great shape in my opinion. Biggest pet, peeve so far is the lack of space in the buffet during breakfast.

As for food, today is the first day we ate lunch at the buffet coming in from Katakolo, and the buffet wasn't open at 4:45 with many options other then pizza, though only in one side.

Food is iffy, my experience with carnival had much more variety and better tasting food, though the service is excellent. Buffet is ok. Cappuccinos are delightful and bar staff amazing.

  6. We are on Musica at the end of September and have not found much info either so this thread will be very useful.

    Now some questions:

What experience are you on? Fantastica. Came with the drink coupons.

Where is your cabin? 9125 midship port. Love it. Quiet.

Also what was the embarkation like? A bad sitcom. Total,of four times handing over passport for check, 6 times paperwork check. We're pretty patient people, but compared to a US embarkation, it was overkill (port security, bag check, check in, inside security, ship gangway, ship lobby)

You might be sorry you started this thread!!

Enjoy your cruise and keep us updated as long as it does not interfere with your enjoyment.

    Happy to help!

  7. I think those who book in the US get vouchers for water.

Tea, coffee and water are all available 24/7 in the buffet. Juices @ breakfast time only.

Water in buffet. No, people, who book in the US do NOT get free water in the dining room. Must pay

  8. Would you take the alilaguna boat again? Or opt for a different way to get to the port?

Which port does Musica dock at?

I'M not sure there are many other options than Alilaguna. I am cheap so a water taxi for us was out of the question! Not sure which port, the ships were all docked together...

  9. Thanks for posting and enjoy your cruise. Like you I’ve found very little information about this ship on CC and we have booked our first cruise(Grand Voyage) on MSC Musica sailing on 12 November 2017 from Venice to Rio de Janeiro.

A lot has been posted about drink prices on other ships but I’m not sure if these are fleet wide so if you get chance can you post photos of the drink prices and the drink packages in particular:-

    a) All Inclusive Deluxe Drink Package & 50 euros per adult per day

    b) All Inclusive Restaurant & Bar Drink Package. Mealtime 16.5 euros per day

Both of the above are available to be pre-paid and I would like to compare before I commit myself.

    Thanks again.

Though...I think drink prices change depending on destination.

  10. Following this thread - will be on it in May 2018!

Would like to see daily planners and/or kid's club planner as well. Our daughter will be in the 7-11 year old group.

I'll try and post planners when I get home, though I won't have the kids one, our daughter is a teenager and hangs with us.

Did you overnight in Venice? We stayed over in Murano- I highly recommend it. Got an airbnb. So much better than bustling Venice.

Did you fly into Marco Polo airport? If yes, then how long did it take you to get out of the airport? Did you take the bus, train or water taxi to Venice from the airport?

yes. We took an alilaguna boat to Murano but you can take them anywhere to Venice. It's slow and hot. Took about 45 minutes ride, maybe Ann hour from deplaning to the boat launch.
  11. A few questions. Is there a clothes line in the shower? Self Laundry onboard? What are the hours of the buffet? A good choice of food? No dress code at buffet? What do you think the demographics are? Mostly older? Languages onboard? Mostly english? Do they have trivia? How is that run and in what language? What type of stateroom do you have? How is it? Do the cabins have refrigerators? Thanks for any information. If it is too much, that is okay. I have run into the same problem, no information. Have a great cruise. I can't wait to hear about it.

    Clothes line, YES

Self laundry NO , you can pay something like 20 euros for them to launder 20 items. We brought soap and I'm doing sink laundry

Buffet 7-11:30, 11:30-4:00, Not sure at night

English is first language but they translate at least 4 other languages

    Trivia, im don't know

We have a balcony, it's great. Decor more subdued but comparable to carnival or Norwegian

Fridge, a mini bar yes and a bit of rom to lay your own stuff

And...you need to pay your water. Buy a water package!

  12. Hello,

We will be on the MSC Musica, in Athens from 7:30-4:30. We would like to see the acropolis, the agora, the Temple of Hephaestion, and see a bit of Plaka. So far we're planning on getting the X80 bus into town. I'd like to get an itinerary together, anyone have any suggestions where to find a step by step guide somewhere?

    Tks!

  13. Maybe someone can help...

We usually cruise three in our room, with friends who are four. The rate for passengers 3-4 are always significantly lower than the first two...usually around $200-300 when the first two pay around $600-900.

When I tried to price the conquest on December 23rd, imagine my surprise when I see that pricing for these 3/4th passengers in a room paying over $600 each?

Is this a special holiday price? I have asked my pvp but since it is the Easter holidays understandably she has not answered.

Talk about forgetting about EVER doing a holiday cruise...

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment...

  14. Hello,

We are carnival through and through, both DH and I are platinum. I tried RCCL over ten years ago and don't remember being impressed, though we were cruising with a toddler at the time, so...

Looking at a San Juan cruise next year, and seeing similar pricing between RCCL and Fascination. Identical itinerary.

How can I compare the two? As a frame of reference, on carnival, we love serenity deck, the steak house, MDR food, and the piano bar. The kid loves the music style shows like Motown and vroom.

So....would I like RCCL enough not to miss my platinum perks (huge one being priority boarding, tender and laundry!)

    Tks for any input!
