  1. Was having a sneaky look at some of the latest videos about Sky Princess as we are sailing on Saturday (YAY) and noticed on one review that they mentioned that they no longer have the juice; tea & coffee or ice machines for self service in the buffet - is that right?

I would understand the reasons behind this as they wouldn't want to increase the Covid risk - but just wanted to check if that is teh case?

    Cheers

  2. I have the Premium Package on our forthcoming sailing on Preziosa in August. The MSC website suggests that there will be two types of Cider available, yet having a look at a recent post that has pictures of the various bar and restaurant menus, there isn't a mention of my particular tipple - I don't drink a lot (:classic_blush:) but I do like a glass or two of Cider - does anyone know if it is available on Preziosa?

    Thanks

  3. Hi, apologies if this has already been said but what grade guarantee did you book. My understanding is, and I only say this as we have booked a guarantee / saver fare, when you book a guarantee they will state a minimum grade, so if this was the case (eg HD guarantee), then they can’t allocate anything below that. HD is the grade of cabin you have been allocated, as I think earlier in the thread you mentioned B737? Check your paperwork and see what guarantee you paid for, it will be on the invoice.

  4. We love using local buses whoever we visit but the service isn't very good to Honfleur and you still have to get to the main bus station. We booked a taxi tour before we went and it was great. The driver took us a tour round the area above Honfleur which was beautiful, gave us a tour of the town then dropped us off to have lunch by the harbour. he then picked us up a couple of hours later. Great day!
Sounds great...what company did you use?

  5. We are visiting Le Harve on our May cruise and wondered how others have visited Hornfleur? The ship’s excursions are expensive for such a short journey and we would rather do our own thing. There are 4 adults and 2 children...

Is there a bus, or are taxis easy to organise? Assuming there’s no hop on hop off...

    Grateful for any suggestions...

  6. We are a family of 4 travelling on Azura in May. We have a superior deluxe, but as my daughter is 15 and doesn't want to share the sofa bed with her 10 yr old brother, they will have the twin beds, and the wife and I will be sharing the sofa bed (oh joy...).

I've heard that you can ask for an additional mattress topper - is this correct and has anyone got any experience of this and if so, do you request it before you travel or when you get on board?

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Cheers

  7. The whole point of the forum is for people to share information on cruises and I can guarantee that there are lots and lots of people on here who will know far more about cruises, lines, ports, excursions both organised and DIY than any "specialist" TA, There isn't a TA out there who will have done as many cruises or spent as many nights cruising as some forum members on here.
    I agree 100%.

Travel agents will tell you what you want to hear most of the time.

  8. I disagree, no travel agent can get anywhere near the description you get from someone that has actually stayed in that particular cabin. Most will simply ask the cruise company, and most of the time they don't know themselves as they refer to their deck plans which aren't always correct as they don't go into enough detail.

We can all look at a deck plan, but its no substitute for someone that has tried to sleep through the thud of a base speaker, the vibration of a rear thruster or the scraping of chairs from the pool deck.

  9. Has anyone stayed in E725 on Azura, we are trying to find out if it has the usual bath with shower over, as one review suggested shower only, which doesn't sound right?

Also does it suffer from late night noise from the lounge below, some say yes, some no? Looking at the deck plan, cabins on the opposite side look as if they may be impacted due to the position of the stage?

    Thanks in advance...

  10. I am not a sunbather nor a swimmer so I have no interest in spending much time around the pools, I only go there while my husband is swimming and then I try to find somewhere in the shade to sit. I would never presume that the sun beds nearest to the pools are for sunbathers because I don't know the reasons that make someone choose a sunbed near to the pool, perhaps they are keen to get fried by the sun and these sunbeds are better positioned to get the most sun. We are all different and have our own reasons for doing what we do.
Apologies, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick, I'm not against people using sunbeds to sunbathe, even its around the pool, but what I don't like is that those that have no intention of using the pool (not those that are with partners or children using the pool) that make it difficult for people that do want to use it, or supervise their children that are using it, to get any sunbeds near to the pool. Even worse is for those that aren't using the pool, complaining about children that are enjoying themselves.

Like I say, everyone is on a cruise to relax and enjoy themselves, and there are plenty of appropriate places for everyone to be able to do just that.

The issue for me with this is that there is already an adult only pool, so why is there a need to have the terrace pool as well. The strange thing is - both adult pools are ultimately more suitable for children, due to their depth???

  11. My 14 year old daughter was asked to leave the pool as it was for adults only. I was sunbathing at the side of the pool. I pointed out to the staff member that she was an adult as she had paid the adult fare. The manager was summoned, he totally agreed with me but one sunbather had complained that she couldn't read her book in peace because in the "noisy splashing water" and he had to uphold the rules. 10 minutes later the woman left the deck. Some people just can't help themselves.

I agree, there is plenty of open deck space for reading books. The other thing that bugs me (although I try to let such things go over my head as I'm there to relax) is when the sun beds nearest the pool (any pool) are taken by some people that have no intention of using the pool itself, just there to take in the sun. But hey ho, you can't have everything, the important thing is to make the most of it and enjoy yourself... You are right though, some people forget that children pay almost if not as much as adults, especially on P&O, yet are excluded from many areas...

  12. Hi

We have been on Azura previously but not for a couple of years - we have also done the Princess Grand Class ships and there has never been any consistency on whether they allow children in the terrace pool - some say no but allow it, some say yes and don't...

Our children don't like the main pools as P&O (or other parents) don't police them very well, with them often being overrun by children diving in; doing bombs and running around - the terrace pool allows them to enjoy a pool without the carnage.

What is the current ruling on Azura?

We were moved on from there a couple of years ago - even though we were the only ones in there, and nobody else nearby that wanted to use the pool - the terrace pool is often surrounded by sun seekerrs that don't ever use the pool, so it generally wouldn't cause anyone any problems, and I am always with them anyway.

    Thanks

    Jason

  13. Just off Crown and whilst there were some issues, these were very much out of the control of the Captain and crew. I would much rather be safe than take a chance that the weather will be ok to tender or that the computer glitch won't impact on safety, so all in all the Captain and crew did as much as they possibly could to make up for technical issues. The ship is great, there are a few areas that could do with some care and attention, but even the newest ships have those. Some reviews have commented on such things as "poor service"; "rude staff"; "quality of food not up to standard"; "pressured selling" - I have to say, our experience was completely the opposite, especially on the pressure selling - which was nothing of the sort. A great ship, and a great holiday...

I forgot to add, in relation to rude staff - I am amazed sometimes how the crew keep calm and professional. We witnessed some passengers being extremely rude to staff who were there to help them - one time in the buffet I could not ignore this and politely told the passenger that they were probably the most ignorant and annoying person I had ever had the misfortune to come across on a ship, and that it was people like her that give cruising a bad name...the crew are there to help and not to be treated like servants, which is exactly what she was doing...
